  1. This letter was sent to ther Bristol evening post and published, the writer needs a medal imho. Where did it all go wrong? T ODAY we mourn the passing of a beloved old friend, Common Sense, who has been with us for many years. No one knows for sure how old he was, since his birth records were long ago lost in bureaucratic red tape. He will be remembered as having cultivated such valuable lessons as: ● Knowing when to come in out of the rain; ● Why the early bird gets the worm; ● Life isn't always fair; ● Maybe it was my fault. Common Sense lived by simple, sound financial policies, (don't spend more than you can earn) and reliable strategies (adults, not children, are in charge). His health began to deteriorate rapidly when well-intentioned but overbearing regulations were set in place. Reports of a six-year-old boy charged with sexual harassment for kissing a classmate; teens suspended from school for using mouthwash after lunch; and a teacher fired for reprimanding an unruly student, only worsened his condition. Common Sense lost ground when parents attacked teachers for doing the job that they themselves had failed to do in disciplining their unruly children. It declined even further when schools were required to get parental consent to administer sun lotion or an aspirin to a student; but could not inform parents when a student became pregnant and wanted to have an abortion. Common Sense lost the will to live as the churches became businesses; and criminals received better treatment than their victims. Common Sense took a beating when you couldn't defend yourself from a burglar in your own home and if you did the burglar could sue you for assault. Common Sense finally gave up the will to live, after a woman failed to realise that a steaming cup of coffee was hot. She spilled a little in her lap, and was promptly awarded a huge settlement. Common Sense was preceded in death, by his parents, Truth and Trust, by his wife Discretion, by his daughter, Responsibility, and by his son, Reason. He is survived by his 4 stepbrothers; I Know My Rights I Want It Now Someone Else Is To Blame I'm A Victim Not many attended his funeral because so few realised he was gone. If you still remember him, pass this on. If not, join the majority and do nothing This was sent to me. I thought it should reach a larger audience. Philip Morris, Barton Hill
  2. One of the funniest things i saw was at my last garage,my apprentice broke down in a ford courier van and another lad went out to straight bar him back with his ldv convoy, they couldnt find a towing eye on the front of the courier as its a screw in type and was missing,so Pete pushed him 5 miles on the bar !!! i pissed myself laughing when they pulled up in the yard.
  3. The high level brake light MUST work and if its made up of several bulbs then 50 % of those have to be functional. A quote from testers manual Additional stop lamps fitted and connected must be tested. Where extra lamps are fitted and there is doubt as to whether they are connected, the benefit of this doubt should be given to the presenter.

  13. If your referring to the top arm bearings then its worth bearing in mind that Vosa issued a special notice regarding 300zx top arm play and not to fail worn bearings unless they came outside a given tolerance. Its been a year since i was testing but if i recall your allowed alot of play before its deemed unroadworthy.
  14. check the gauge sensor, usually the terminal cracks which causes the needle to read lower than it should, the sensor is the small plug on the water pipe which is directly in front of you looking at the cam belt covers.
  15. Lets be fair though guys, the reason women get cheaper insurance is because if a doris does claim its only cheap compared to a mans, women have scrapes etc,men wipe out if they crash usually due to speed. We all know this really dont we :sneaky2:

  17. I have to say though it does seem crazy but ford purists would argue its well worth it,who knows?? all i know is they are ubber rare now,an engine rebuild on one costs ten grand !! iirc.Parts are in short supply and specialists have tooled up and made new components so the costs have rocketed.Quirky little cars and so predictable to drive.I love them but each to there own i suppose, ive always had a soft spot for Escorts and some othe choice Fords ie 3.0 litre capris, cosworths etc.
