Well , I got a Series 2 PTU from the States and faffed aound fitting it yesterday ( That`s to say , I dropped the first screw I tried to fit , fitted the top two and dropped the last screw . Actually , by then I didn`t care : It`s light enough to be tight enough with two :p ) Anyway , I drove it in heavy traffic today , stopped to shop at Tesco , where the problem usually manifests itself , and , f*ck my luck , it did the same old thing : Kept cutting out because it had reached operating temp . I`m a bit p*ssed off after all that , to be honest :headvswal Time and money wasted .

My 300zx is misfiring, and I have narrowed it down to cylinder no 4 (mid cyl left bank). Have changed the coil pack and no success, and today also swapped the injector connector and cleaned the injector it self. Tried with an "ohm meter" directly on the injector and I get a resistance of approx. 3.25 kOhm (yes kilo ohm). This does not sound OK to me, but is there someone that know what resistance that I should read. If it is the injector, have anyone swapped no.4 using the "dremmel method" or will in be plenum off. If it is plenum off, is there other things that I should get swapped at the same time. Also, any idea how long time it will take a garage to lif…

Ok not exactly a new topic but a good example of crank pully failure presented itself here. With the engine running there was an awful knocking sound from low down at the front of the engine, with the engine switched off a quick inspection did not immeidiately reveal anything. However with it running the area where the noise was coming from was more obvious but then its suddenly stopped making any noise, weird, revving up the engine however reproduced the sound again and it was spotted. The picture below shows what it looked looked like from below when there was no nasty noises. After tracking it to the pully, a bit of pressure applies showed the …

I just removed the original speakers (90 jap tt import) to swap speakers. The plug has obviously blown or something in the past (see pic) The black housing clip of the wires had no indication as to positive/negative I removed the plastic leaving two wires (other pic) They don't really have much of a colour distinction either (both a burnt brown!) Question is how do i know which is which? I want to connect new speakers without breaking anything Anyone know how i can tell?

Electrical problems and water ingress go hand in hand on any car and no less the zed especially with targa roofs. Many owners have experience some level of water leak from the targa / door seals but in the vast majority of cases it is obvious as it shows up on the seats or your leg if your unlucky enough to be driving through big rain and it lets in. So when we saw a zed with some odd electrical issues and a very wet passenger carpet the taga was an obvious suspect. But when pulling the carpet back the area below the ecu was very dry. So with everything initially looking ok we checked out the targa drain points Now what yo…

It is central of the car where the gear shift goes up into the car. the noise is only there when the ignition is switched on and engine is off!! it is deffo electrical and sounds like a fridge??? Do soloniods buzz?? The noise is quite loud. Hope someone can help ;) Thanks

Hi All I just got hold of some 18 inch 8/9 J staggered wheels for my Z. They are ET 45 all round and I am fitting them on a standard height car for now but am planning on lowering the car soon. Current thoughts are front 20mm Hub centric spacers for the front with 225/35/18 tyres rear 15mm hub centric spacers for the rear with 265/35/18 tyres. does this seem about right or do you think I could get a wider spacer on the front running a 225 tyre? Any thoughts or advice much appreciated.

i`m still relativley new to this scene and not really had much contact with other z owners. i sold a propshaft to a guy today who seemed to now his stuff, and i was very impressed with his engine bay layout and the 99 spec bumper.its the first time i`ve seen a z with that much detail to attention in the flesh.mine is a long way off yet but i`ve seen the light at the end of the tunnel(so to speak) and i`m glad i`ve chosen a z to modifiy.

I bought viniboy's Tomei steering wheel and quick release boss... but it hasn't got a wheel centre, and I had a spare nose panel Z badge, but can't make my mind up whether it looks good or not. I mean it looks ok, but not sure whether its a bit big for a steering wheel. Input required! cheers guys :hyper:
