my auto box is slow in changing gear and if i boot it it hits the limiter for a second and then changes, could it have something to do with the exhaust being 4.5" and 5" exit so no back pressure? i topped up the a/t fluid yesterday and it took about 2 pints and there is a slight improvement. any help much appreciated cheers.

emissions is 6% on CO level. very rich. the MAF reading is 1.3 (ok i beleive) timing 15 deg (fine) injector pulse 2.27ms injector duty 2.11% IACV 17% the TPS was out, it was 0.80v, now corrected to 0.48v i need to lower the base idle i believe, as its 1125rpm. now then, the o2 sensors. Left 0.65v (on idle) Right 0.34v (on idle) when reved the car to 2000rpm, the reading just stayed there, maybe increased/decreased a little, but its supost to go nuts isnt it? when i lower the base idle, will that lower the voltage, decreasing the CO level? or are the o2 sensors broke?

A friend of mine has just bought a 90 Manual TT off fleabay as a project, the car is imaculate but does not run right or idle. It sounds like a huge blow from the drivers side downpipe but i was under the car and tightened everything up and cannot find an exhaust problem. the car sounds like the exhaust is not attached its that loud. Im wondering could it be a gasket problem between the Plenum and the heads. The car holds perfect temp and oil pressure and no mechanical knocks or taps just this blowing sound. The engine has been freshly rebuilt with new turbos but tbh a poor job of refitting the engine found loads of connectors broken or unplugged including one at the back…

i currently have car insured as a automatic and wish to fit a manual conversion kit. I looked at price comparisons and filled ouot a new claim with the gearbox modification option... pretty much all of the companies came back with "we do not support thsi type of mod" whats the best way of doing this? obviously i can't get away with just insuring the car as a manual so my next option is could i change the car details with DVLA or something to make it a manual car on paper thus insuring it as a manual simply? how did you lot get around this? cheers all

I'm talking 1/4 mile now :D Why is it that the 300zx struggles to get into the high 12's doing the 1/4 mile when a stage 1 supra ie around 1 bar of boost on oem turbos can get into the 11's? Both similar power, both similar weights, both RWD Answers on a postcard

Well my Z was collected by Chris from Centre of Gravity yesterday afternoon and he has been working on it throughout today. He is a really top bloke to talk to, even though it is only on the phone at present! Anyway he spent about 1.5 Hours freeing off all the adjustment points and then proceeded to set the car up. He is also going to check over my traction control to ensure it is set up correctly as well. Last i heard was about 1700 and he was just off to take it for a test drive after the first round of adjustments!

Had to get the AA out last wednesday returning from work as my car decided to spill all of its coolant. I've only just been able to get round to finding the leak. There felt like a tiny leak around a small hose above the water pump but didn't seem like it would cause the amount of fluid collecting on the under tray. Bearing in mind the car hadn't been started since Wednesday and I tried filling the radiator up without running the engine, would coolant leak from the small pipes from the heads or water pump from just filling up the system? Seems like something has ruptured badly!

Hi all! Picked up my first Z car last Monday and I've been loving every second of it! Apologies for not posting pics or anything sooner, I've either been out enjoying it, or working to pay for it! It's james' old car (JohnWayne300) as seen for sale here: http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=128089 Here's a few snaps that I took today! Been loving every second so far, tunnels with the roof off are a lot of fun! :D Car runs perfectly, only real problems are the washer jets and the brakes which I feel aren't powerful enough (I want my face to hit the windscreen when I slam on the anchors) :D

As usual i have a problem with my autobox. Was driving in town today stopped at some lights they went green i pressed the accelarator nothing happened. I lost every gear nothing worked engine would just rev. Turned it all off started it up and i got drive back for about 5 - 10 seconds which allowed me to at least get her safe. The box only went in a month ago. It made no nasty noises or grinding, it changed gear perfectly, didnt leak, no burning smells. Before it went in i checked the oil left in the box and it was still perfect color. I suspect somehting electrical or a sensor, it was just so sudden. Any ideas? Thanks Rob.

Im off down AnthonyDs by the way :duffer:

Hi everyone, my wife has a 1997 FTO the front fog lamps/spot lamps don't work. New bulbs and testing with direct power from battery shows they can work. I think a fuse has gone, but I have checked all under the hood with no luck. Any one with FTO experience out there please. Thanks Sonic

Well, got 18miles out of the new car, then at 60mph, the engine went bang...... Funny thing is, it didn't even sound like the bottom end, first it lost power, then there was a strange crunch noise, followed by smooth running for about 10seconds, no Check engine light, then a very load crunching noise, followed by locking of the engine loads of smoke and a trail of oil up the road. First time id driven it as well as i was on my way to the MOT. I think its the big end gone due to the fact the oil pan has a hole in it, what type of damage will i be looking at, luckily (depending how you look at it) i was slowing down to pull over after id heard the first…
