when traveling above about 35mph if i dip the clutch to say coast up to traffic lights or that the revs will fall right to zero and the car will die then kick back in when the clutch is lifted. my mechanic seems to think that there was some sort of deflector plate or something infront of the air filter and maf to stop the air shooting straight in he recons its been missing after the bodykit was fitted would this cause this or is it something else?

Here's a scenario: Bloke gets caught for drink driving (2nd offence) and gets a 3 year ban. After ban buys car (crap) and pays huge insurance for two years. By this point it's 5 years since the crime-does he no longer have to declare the offense when insuring or is he bound to declare it forever? Does anyone know the actual (factually based) answer to this rather than opinion?

just a thought, im sure ill be shot down but here goes its widly thought that you should not exceed 80% duty cycle on an injector most people will not go over 15psi boost due to the injectors reaching 80% duty cycle- correct? limiting you to around 380bhp however it has been my previous experience that side feed injectors as fitted to the 300, and for that matter the 200sx are quite happy running up to around 95%- perhapse because they are better cooled. has anyone ever tried running higher than 80% and for that matter has anyone ever had a failure due to this? theoretically you could reach 450 bhp? what cc are gtr injectors? it would …

Boost / air leaks are often an issue when engines are changed or items removed when not enough care is not taken with all of the ducts and pipes, take a quick look at the photo below of a squashed pipe that had been mullered into place following some work done at a non specialist garage :x: the pipe had to be replaced as it could not be trusted. Finally did the unthinkable and stripped my Z on Saturday. Senor Dixon came over and between the two of us (and with the occassional spot of help from my old man!) we took off every single part that we thought could prove useful be it mechanical, electrical, exterior bodywork and interior seats and trim...nothing was spared. In a way I had something of an emotional attachment to the car...it was my first Z32 which I imported from Japan about 8 years ago. It was also the car I'd originally planned to put the V8 into however, after initially getting it looking to my eyes pretty good (stillen skirts, modified 99 spec front end, smoothed rear end, de-locked, de-swaged an…

Before i carry on... When i refer to used i mean 2000 miles old. Have of which was running in miles on the dyno in a controlled enviroment. These are not the parts the garage were meant to be using for my old build. The engine failed after 2000 miles due to a pulley snapping off the front of the block. I need to check condition of parts and everything will be sold with the buyer being aware of the engine they were removed from failed. So i would advise they get everything checked before using. I will check parts for condition before listing and take detailed pics. the parts are as follows. JWT R4 cams (Wild) JWT heavy duty valve spring…

Arrgh! Help! It's driving me nuts! Can anyone (Groover?) help me figure out why my HID's are flickering? Not been driving the Zed much recently because I've had to use my bike to commute to work (no parking on site for us lowly contractors ) but hit a stone or something going round a roundabout recently and smashed it up :( Since using the Zed again, the HID's have been flickering badly (i.e. like a strobe!) and sometimes the left one cuts out entirely. I thought that I had sorted it this weekend as I heard arcing coming from the cable on the output side of the left hand ballast, taped it all up again and the arcing seemed to stop. The strange th…

Just off the phone to Thor racing and they are reporting that the mapping is going well and everything will be finished on Thursday morning. They have only ran it up to about 8 or 10 psi at present and are getting good power from that. He asked me what sort of power figures i thought would be achieved, but i have got no idea! So, I would like to run a small guess the power competition! The member who guesses the closest to the final flywheel power figure that is achieved by Thursday afternoon i will donate £20 to a charity of their choice. All the engine information can be found on my rides page. Good Luck!:D

Hi all, have been having a few problems with the ol' z lately. If I take my hand off the steering wheel the car will pull to the left. I took it for tracking when I first got the problem but that hasnt really solved it. On its previous mot, there was an advisary on the front left boot but would that cause the car to pull. Any advice would be greatly appreciated

...so I was a bit of a pratt last night and pranged my bumper on a rather large rock-like kerb last night whilst pulling a hasty u-turn! End result is a rather mangled front left corner. I also had ducting from the front to my brakes which seems to have been ripped off (and I presume left somewhere on the road!)... ...so does anyone know of any decent fibreglassers, preferably in the South someplace, that might be able to help me out??

been to see jeff at the weekend and he has done a great job of looking over the car and pointing me in the right direction. the dump valves were leaking and that seems to have solved the overfueling issue. however still not making propper power. i realised this evening that none of the boost solinoid lines have restrictors in them. would this be why i have poor power?

I've recently bought an old-skool Momo steering wheel, which is in 'reasonable' condition. Leather is a little faided and is going a little tacky at the top. Now, instead of having it retrimmed, I am going to refinish the leather. Just wondering if anyone's done this before. I am going to buy black leather dye to recolour the wheel so it's an even colour all over using the below (but obviously black) http://www.furnitureclinic.co.uk/Leather_Recolouring_Balm.htm To finish off and protect. This is the same lacquer product used in the manufacturing of leather. I can get the matte finish which will give the wheel an 'as new' look. http://www.fur…
