Ive got a 1990 TT auto that had its MOT after sitting for about 6 months.....when driving back from the garage, and once warmed up, i dropped the hammer, as one does....after about 3 seconds of max boost (running standard) the engine just stalled (dont panick!) and restarted after about 5 secs of coasting. I drove it home very gently and promptly changed my underwear. When home, I noticed the fuel pump was making a louder whine than usual to...and the car was idling erratically, seemed to misfire.... when stationary and revving the engine, as soon as you let off the throttle pedal, the revs would drop very low and the car would stall 50% of the time... This was…

Sorry if this has been answered already - I tried the search but couldnt find a straight answer. So.... my brakes are shite. They heat up in about 2 mins. Also the pads start to rub on the disc on the front left side which makes the wheel knock really bad so its probably warped the disc. I cant decided if I should see if the calipers can be rebuilt or splash out (eventually) on some big brakes... the k sport 356mm 8 pot front and 330mm 6 pot rear look/sound quite good. So, my question is... if I went down the big brake route would I need to upgrade anything inside the motor (master cylinders etc) to power all the new pistons?? or is it literally a case …

  7. :taz:I have to adress 2 things now that are: 1) Car failed inspection cause 1 rear shock was ....errrr.... bad... :) So i think i am going to need some advise on wich shocks i should use. My goal is a somehow better response from stock units (even thought i dont know them new) but nothing fancy cause is only street use not racer. I found that Kyb and Koni make them but i would like to hear from experienced people wich is best cost/performance wise. 2) Engine makes a noise i am almost shure from the driver side head that seems the camshaft dampner - i think this is the name -; at cold start is louder then quickly quiets down - mostrly i hear it at idle and not…

  11. I'm in the middle of changing my rack bushes for ES ones. I've removed the brackets holding them in place and changed the n/s one easily. Problem im having is getting the drivers side one off. The rack only has a little amount of play and I can't get the old one out. I know that this side is a "bit tricky" but I'm getting nowhere with it. I'm also wondering how, when I get the bugger out, am I going to get the new one in? Help me 300zx.co.uk you're my only hope! Cheers Dave PS Engine is still in..

Hi Guys, Long time no post - Poor Z has been sitting in the garage for a year feeling sorry for its self, so have decided to put it back on the road (I will renew membership as and when it is) Anyways.... The reason it was put off the road was it constantly popped water hoses, as soon as one was fixed another would go, therefor ive been following the aus300zx guide on doing the plenum pull. I have gone over the removal guide a good 6 or 7 times but I still cannot get the plenum to lift off - its wiggling but will not lift - anyone got any ideas? Thanks in advance, -Stu

  13. Ok so not technically a Zed part, but there are plenty around the Stroesk front bumpers. Indicator unit? Of course I looked all over the housing etc and cannot find any branding (that makes sense!) as to what manufacturer made these items. I would like to change them for something a bit more modern, i.e. clear glass. Thought I had found them last week and bought a pair of Mazda MX5 Eurospec lights from the USA via fleabay. Turned out the weren't the ones  Anyway a beer at the JAE for the person who identifies them correctly. cheers H.

  18. Hi All, Whan i bought the car i noticed that the steering had some heavy shaking at certain speeds however when i put my new Wolfrace shark wheels on, it almost totally disappeared. This has since crept back at about 60mph where there is a vibration coming through to cause the steering to shake. First port of call was to see if the wheel had thrown a balance. took it to Tyre Spot who re-balanced the wheels. Still seems to be doing it though? Anyone got any ideas what it could be? Anyone had similar problems in the past? Any help appreciated. Cheers Peter

Sorry about the quality of a lot of these pics my phone has had some funky setting turned on that means a lot of the pictures came out crap, the flash on the phone just reflected making a bright haze. I will take some better ones in the light with my decent camera but it will give you an idea of how it is coming along. Everything connected now, the NOS and all the sensors are in and I gave it a polish last night to remove all the messy hand prints. Im really pleased with how it turned out. After we have done a few electrical bits I should be able to programme the base map and see if the little gem starts. http://www.project300tt.com/2010/04/14/engine-and-gearbo…

I was just wondering if anyone had any interesting/humorous facts or anecdotes to help me jazz it up and make it more interesting to the non-enthusiast. Thanks, Tom

Adjustable tension rod arms are very popular and we have seen our fair share of them as well as fitting many sets too, interestingly a zed recent came for a new buyer "check over" and even as it was put onto the ramp a particularly loud crack/clunk from the front was evident. The first photo came out a bit blurred unfortunatly but shows the location of the adjustable tension rod in question. In the second photo the locknut is not only loose but can see to be well rusty along with the thread, as the rod thread is quite coarse the loose locknut was allowing movement on the thread, to tighten it up needed a good dosing of WD40 and a large spanner. Luckily no l…
