General Discussions - 300ZX Related

hi all. being as the turbo on an auto is a t25 and on a manual is t25- can anyone tell me the difference ? the compressor wheels and turbine wheels seem identical. refurb kits are also identical. anyone out there have an answer ? ?

I just bought a 1993 300zx tt auto, and the turbo gauge says its not boosting above 0psi. i have been told by a fairly reliable source that i need a new mass air flow sensor, is this true? or what else could this be?

I keep hearing knocking noises from the back of the car (passenger side). It happens when going over some bumps (even littler ones in the road) and seems to be there when turning some corners too. Kind of sounds like an empty plastic box. I thought it might have been the exhaust but it doesn't appear to be. Im thinking is it maybe the boards in the boot (boot floor) but I dont see why it would suddly start doing it now. Anyone got any other ideas?

Hi all, I currently have GTR R33 brakes on the car all round. Are the 350Z brakes any better?

Will be changing the heater matrix soon, and I want to change the 2 heater hoses at the back of the engine. Does anyone know the best place to buy these hoses please. Cheers.

Right the zed need new fronts its shocking.... First if only doing the front should i go with GTR Brembos? Or still go EVO Brembos??? Also am i right that the GTR Brembo's are straight bolt on???? What disks are used with them???? standard or do they use larger ones??? With out sounding like a dumb ass.... there GTR R33 calipers??? Any extra help and advice like brake line changes or know issues let me know. thanks Antony

During a routine cambelt change it was discovered that when previous work had been done in the same area who ever had refitted it all up was a bit heavy handed with the old sealant. Sealant / instant gasket is perfectly good product that when used correctly can be a time saver and save some money too. However when meeting faces are machine cut they only need a small uniform smear of sealant to make a good job, it can be very tempting to load the joint up thinking it will make a better job of it, all it does though is squeeze out into places it was not meant to. Arrrgghh another problem has arrived now, Gearbox not "kicking down" or changing down by its self, and i dont even think its going into first when i put it in to first, as the other day i was in first on the auto box, i set off at a slowish pace then needed to merge so i give it some, and she for the first time in ages kicked down, and lept forward like she had been stung in the arse, any ideas :) thank you

Hi I'm new to the 300zx world and was wondering if to go for a zed or a mitsubishi gto? I've asked around, and apparently the zed can be very expensive and has turbo failures? A chap at work has told me the gto snaps cambelts regularly?! is this true? he advised me to go for neither though??! i have around 5 grand to spend....

Ok so it's took a while to get the cash together, but I'm now at the £1300 saved mark, and only a couple of ton short of the final amount needed for a new engine from zedworld... My driver side shock absorber has started leaking slightly. Anyone know how much longer I may have before it goes completely. Also anyone know where I an get a j spec 95 na shocker cheap. Either new or a good second hand one. Cheers peter

Need some new rear discs fancey some zinc coated ones but not anything fancey grooved or drilled anyone know of any avalible just plain discs thanks.

Just test driven a jap import 1990 300zx tt. Advertised on Pistonheads see below http://www.pistonheads.com/sales/1655613.htm Car is a cat C. Has had some damage to front wing and bumper, not very serious. I'd say about £400 would fix up this problem. The real issue for me was a loud gearbox wine that drowned out the engine, surely you shouldn't be hearing the gearbox loudly inside the car in all gears. What could be making this noise, any ideas? How much to fix it, or should i just walk away?

well, Thanks to baz first, as i popped up to see him on Tuesday and got a few more parts to help get the Zed looking better internally (baz we forgot the silly clip covers lol) Anyway, new glove box is now in, so no longer have a hole in it, my furry holder is now in place so have a little cubby hole under the stereo to put all sorts of nuts while i work and also collect dust.. Found out what the stereo problem was, earthed it on the chassis and now it no longer turns off when the headlights are switched on. (earth on the loom is apparently rather pants) New chrome slam panel is now in place (my first bit of bling :lol:) Also tracked down a strange …

Hi guys, Boring question I know but does anyone know where the rear washer get's it's water from? Is it the same reservoir as the front or is there another tank hidden away somewhere? The front washers work fine but I get nothing on the back. Thanks.

Hi guys, i have vibration when breaking.just had wheels balaced and new discs ,just had it serviced had no reports of worn wheel bearings or joints

just wondered if any of you could tell me a good way to get my plenum a bit cleaner,I dont want it mirror finish,just to get it a bit cleaner in- situ.

Ok so i've been generally sorting out squeaky and rattle trim and pretty much got all of them sorted except for this awful plasticky rattling noise under the dash on the left hand side near the glove box. I've taken every loose bit of crap out the car that could rattle, its not the glove box or anything in it but something near it, I thought it might be the heater blower but whether its on or off it still rattles whilsts driving. Anyone else had this problem and solved it?
