Has anyone had a problem with their oil pumps, my engine started knocking and i found that no.1 cylinder has spun the big end bearing damaging the crankshaft and con rod annoying af to say the least. anyway my concern is why this has happened the engine was rebuilt 3000km ago and properly run in then all of a sudden it goes knock knock no warning of any sort also i have no oil pressure gauge wired up so could not tell if it had pressure or not the cluster was faulty anyways. thank god i did not sell this engine as i was planning to before it had the spun bearing. thanks in advance for any advice jack.

Hey all, The Zed has been behaving for the past six months (just replaced all the tyres and had the wheels refurbed a few months ago) but now I have a sniff test fail :( After giving her some welly a couple of weeks ago, I found a small amount of oil in the expansion bottle, followed by white smoke (steam) coming from both exhausts. Fearing the worst, I carried out a sniff test today and the indicator showed yellow (combustion gases in the coolant). Car is a 1993 UK spec and just approaching the 100,000 mile mark. Now, I've previously replaced the timing belt, done a plenum pull, bypass and delete with no real problems...… Big question - how difficult…

Recently posted on FB, but it appears that Samuri Motors has been resurrected... https://www.samurimotorcompany.com/history-of-samuri-motor-company/ Appears they’re planning on offering work on 300ZX’s, aswell as the 240/260/280Z’s that they were originally known for. Not sure on what to expect from them in relation to our Z’s, but curious to see how things develop.

Hi folks, I have a little project to finish - and just need a suitable ignition-on live power feed. What under-bonnet (preferably near the front of the engine bay) circuit would you suggest tapping into? As said must be a permanent live with ignition on, only - and one with easy access... Thanks  Richard:cool:

Hi guys, I kind of dissapeared after making my first post but I've returned... I've been trying to find the best way to remap/chip the ECU but I'm not making much progress. I can find some bits and pieces on the 1996 model however anyone I've spoken to is clueless about the 1997, I myself haven't been able to find much on it at all. Can anyone suggest the best route to map the ECU in it - it's a jap import TT auto(I know I know auto...). Would it be an Eprom, new ecu or anything? Thanks in advance guys. Matt

Hi folks, I have an intermittent issue with my boot catch - more specifically the circuit for the light/door open warning light. It seems to be earthing badly - or not at all. With the boot firmly shut, the interior light/door open dash warning remain on - or flicker on/off when driving. I have tried inserting a screwdriver into the catch (with the boot open) to mimic the boot being closed and sometimes it goes out, sometimes it doesn't. When I unbolted the catch, the light flickered and the circuit "clicked" with every turn of each bolt. And wiring a separate earth made no difference at all... Should I just get a replacement boot catch - or does anyone ha…

The gearbox has developed an interesting issue over the last few weeks. If I drive conservatively the gear change is as per normal but if I give it some beans it doesn't change gear unless i lift the throttle a bit and it changes OK. Most of the time this is when going from a standstill but one when going along and had to escape a numpty from crashing into the back of me as they weren't paying attention. I have had the gearbox fluid replaced and the gear changes are a lot better but this problem persists. For some reason my Datascan will not connect to do a diagnostic. Is this something simple like TPS or kick down switch?

I have a set of original 99 spec rear lights but the glass is all cracked etc. I probably have some good condition 89 spec lights I could use the glass from, but before doing so, does anyone know whether you can just buy the outer lenses?

:( said he could also have failed it for noise as it's a non standard exhaust (but wouldn't). Anyone else come across needing cats for later cars? Or know of a 'decent' garage in west london? Edit: Passed fine last time, he said it's to do with the new rules introduced in 2018

Has anyone suffered zero heat from their heater system? My actuator can be heard working so I can assume that something has become disconnected or broken preventing the blend door from opening to let hot air in. I can't remember from when I did a dash pull and want to avoid it if I can (although it's a fairly easy job what side the actuator is on. In photos of LHD cars they're the passenger side, so can assume that they're mirrored for RHD Z32s? FSM gives me the following: It states manual air conditioner but there are solenoids present so I'm slightly confused. Has anyone else dealt with this issue before? Did you need to do a dash pull? What was broken or…

It’s been a while since I’ve posted anything, so I thought I’d ask a question. I’m going to be replacing my stereo soon and I’m toying with the idea of putting 3 aftermarket gauges in the spare DIN slot below. Question is – what are the three most important gauges I should be looking to install? My car is a completely standard TT with no engine/big power modifications on the horizon. I’m just looking to know a bit more about how the engine is running, and if something is not right – catch any problems as early as possible. That and I want a boost gauge because I am big kid! Anyway, what should I be looking at? Thanks all, and Happy New Year!

Guys I currently own a 1993 TT manual 300ZX and was looking at replacing it with a 350Z, however I’ve never owned one and was hoping someone on here has and could give me a good opinion on the 350Z, I still find my 300 adequate to drive and own and i also own an M5 but was purely looking to change the ZX. Please advise Thanks Adam

I have (courtesy of Father Christmas) an OBD II scanner which happily lets me perform limited brain surgery on the more “normal” cars in the household. In theory I should also be able to use it on the Z as she’s a 1996 Series 4, and it would be a lot less pain than digging around in the footwell and tripping the ECU into diagnostic mode, but I’m confused about how to do this or even if it can be done! I can find online adapters to convert the Conzult plug to an OBD II, but will that actually work? Great if so, but I’m a little suspicious it could be that easy. I also found online posts that suggested there is a second, OBD II port on 1996+ cars, but can’t find a…
