Hey guys, I'm having a big problem with my Z. I'm pretty sure it's PTU related. Basically, when driving the engine will start to act all weird, but only if i've been driving a while (long trips etc) or on very hot days. The accelerator will go digital, so that it is either fully on, or fully off but the accelerator isn't pushed down all the way. So, I pull over and it runs like shit. Turn the engine off and it won't start. Leave it for 10-15 minutes and it starts up and acts like nothing had ever been wrong? This will usually happen once on a long journey etc. Anyway, with the recent hot weather it's happened after the car has been left out in the…

was at the car trying to figure out what was going on with my horn as it sounded a bit like a choked chicken, and also trying to figure out why my aux fan wasnt working, well changed me fuse for the aux fan, as id used that when the engine cont fuse kept blowing so that sorted out the aux fan out so thats now working. I emptied out all the water the horns had gathered, though have a feeling unless they dry out and start working, ill have to replace them with the spares i have. But was trying to see if i could find out what was causing my clunking when steering and braking, and put my hand on the passenger side tyre, only to feel a rather large bulge :o luckily …

As I promised in my intro thread, it's time to start asking questions. To avoid opening two threads I'm going to ask everything here, if that's alright with everyone. Emissions: I managed to get my car through our versions of an MoT with the help of the people conducting it, but here's the thing. They measure on two levels, at 3000 rpm, for lambda and cats (passed both with flying colours) and at idle. And despite passing the first test, I failed completely on the emissions test. The exhausts have been replaced last year (had the same problem), so I don't think there's a problem with that, and since the cats and lambda are fine, what could be the problem? …

Ok, at the moment I've got a mongoose quad exit exhaust fitted, no complaints - suits me fine. What are my options regards replacing the existing OEM cats? Decats, sports cats....? I'm looking to up my BHP and want to get the exhaust sorted first (already have an Apexi induction kit fitted). I know the arguments for and against decats (turbo seals leakage against power gain) but my engine seems to be in good nick and well looked after prior to me having the car. Who can supply what product? Japspeed, Powerflow....what's available on the market just now? By the way it's a '93 TT Auto. Cheers - Andy

nothing major but irritating more than anything: Went for a drive today, got out the car, went to lock it, and the lock on he drivers side doesnt work anymore. It was working, then with no warning, bang it stopped. i turn the key, no resistance, nothing. Still only turns half way in each direction, but it doesnt touch the locking mechanism. The central locking still works from inside the car. It wasnt sticking at all prior to stopping working. Guessing it has just detatched on the inside. How do I remove the door card to check it. and worse case scenario, can I swap it out with the lock from the boot or passenger side? Like I said …

I've got a BMW on LPG due to the growing family. (It's BigJim's one - he's a real gent BTW). It has the gas tank in the wheel well. There's a spare in the boot but it takes up a fair bit of room. If I take it out I won't have a spare. Any idea if this is a good idea? I hear mixed messages about whether recovery services will help if you have a puncture. Also, what is best to do a temporary roadside repair? I've tried that aerosol foam in the past and it didn't always seem to work plus tyre places didn't want to do a proper repair after that had been used.

Some may know and others may not I have a 200sx VG30DETT project and a 300zx project on the go, the 200 is miles ahead of the 300. I had big delays due to the weather and now the weather is good I can't work on them. I spent bank holiday in hospital needing emergencey surgey and I am still unable to do much, anyone able to help with a day or few hours help with the project? Have a crane and just need to unbolt 4 bolts from gearbox, lift the enfgine to fit sump and exhaust manifold/turbo plus a few other jobs. Sounds worse than it is as there is loads more room for a VG in a 200! Just gutted I'm losing time while the weather is good and falling behind. Plenty of tea, …

Well, as per the title, my Zed passed the MOT on Friday with only a couple of small advisories (very slight play in both the NSF steering rod and NSR HICAS joint) - Result :D They had to drive the Zed onto the four poster ramp using blocks, 'cos I'd set the front suspension a wee bit too low  Anyways, I've adjusted the coilovers and it's not so low at the front now, I'll run with this setup for a couple of weeks and let it all bed in then readjust if needed.

Following suspected turbo seal failure and pcv issues i have decided to convert my TT into a N/A, but with a difference!.........by using a 350 cu in (5.0 litre)small block Chevy v8. I have aquired a complete engine including ancillaries (for £200!!!) and the plan is to rebuild it with new shells and rings etc and mate it to the zed manual box with an adaptor plate (have researched it on US forums and its perfectly do-able).Have looked at loads of images and the conversion leaves loads of room under the bonnet and eliminates loads of parts, other than just the engine itself. So once the swap is done i will have loads of parts for sale, including a complete engine…

Working through the loom for the S14 conversion, we are working out what we need to keep from the engine bay loom (from D/S fuse box all the way round engine bay, main fuse box and back in P/S) Problem we have is all the wiring diagrams we have found the wires are different colours to the loom we have, is there a site with all the versions and anyone know why they would be different?

Getting really fookin sick of this car now. Every time i look at it i just get pissed off with it. these arches are really really hard to get right and i have zero motivation. Never doing anything custom again. I think i have had enough now and im just going to scrap the bloody thing. strip all the bits off it, (well its already just a shell) sell everything then thats it.

Hello all, I have just started my attempt to replace the viscous fan clutch. I have managed to undo all 4 nuts holding on the fan, but I need to remove the rad cowling to get the fan assembly out.... ....I have removed both intake hoses and the rad top hose, undone the two retaining screws at the top, but cannot seem to work out how the cowling is held at the bottom. How do I get it off without taking the radiator out - or breaking the cowling??? Next time I'll just take the car to Jeff's - it's along time since I have dabbled mechanically and now I know why. LOL!! Richard:thumbup1:
