This is a long read, so get a drink and get comfy! lol Just wanted peoples opinions on what's to be expected by a "specialist" 300ZX garage these days. The story................. After 5 years of having so called bodyshops (not the guys at Custom Exotics who have been the only people I've met who have pride in their work), I decided to make one last attempt at getting my Z back on the road or it would be broken/scrapped. Before getting it back into the guys at Custom Exotics to have some panels sorted and let the interior trimmer do his bit, I decided to make sure it was mechanically and structurally sound. There's not that many garages that I thought I could tr…

Hi All, My 300 has failed it's MOT on emissions. The reading is fine for about 10 secs but then it goes through the roof. The MOT tech has suggested lamda sensors faulty. The car does sit in the garage all winter so it may have had a bit of damp in there. Does his suggestion sound OK? Any idea who sells them? Cheers in advance. CT.

after reading crash courses how do you do it thread just now, after loosing lots of skin and blood on a zed engine, i have lost tools, that just seem to fall down the sides of the engine never to be seen again. to my memory so far ive lost , 2 x 14mm sockets, a 10mm socket, a small stubby screwdriver, a couple of stanley blades, a det sensor connector and the small plastic black screw from the top of the radiator. they have fallen and been lost down the sides never to be seen again, i can see one of the 14mm sockets, stuck above the turbos but below the manifold. But i have also found a 10mm snap on spanner and a spark plug both under the lower plenium, plus a pair o…

In the three and a half years that I've owned my Zed, I've only had to work in the engine bay a couple of times (compression check, IACV and various connectors). Tonight I thought that I'd remove the timing belt cover on the CAS side (to inspect the timing belt).......good gods! how many bolts hold that thing on? I've got skinny arms but even so - there's so many sharp bits of plastic and metal in the way.....and I must have dropped every tool I used onto the engine tray  I know it's probably a trivial job but I've given up for the night, I'll try again tomorrow after work :hammer:

These must be the nicest standered wheels I have seen for sale :thumbup1:They have come from Japan so they dont have the wide UK rears but they look so good and love the tyres also. What do you think guys would you have them on your zed? I would. http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/Nissan-300zx-set-alloy-wheels-16-inch-Fully-chromed-Bridgestone-Potenza-/261033259991?pt=UK_CarParts_Acc_Wheels_tyres_Rims_Car_Wheels_ET&hash=item3cc6cb73d7

(1) I'm wondering if the electrical short that's causing the rear light issue (ie. there aren't any apart from rear indicators) could be caused by my fitting the grounding kit, and maybe attaching it to something that I shouldn't have. I can't see what though, so here's a quick clip: and (2) I removed the rear drivers side hub from the driveshaft in order to fit the new DW polybushes and since replacing it, I noticed that even with the driveshaft nut tight, there's a fair bit of play. Would this be a bearing issue or have I forgotten to tighten something else/not replaced a washer etc? any ideas guys??

Hi I am wondering about buying some hood vents. (GTR vents) I have a problem that the engine gets a bit hot when the weather is warm. I don't have the platsic shield under the engine anymore. Could this cause the hot engine problem that the hot air gets pressed up during driving?

Well having changed my fan clutch this morning everything was going great, thought id take the car out for a test to see if the new clutch fan would have a say in how hot my car got. Drove to kettering, all of a sudden the gearbox decided it didn't want to change gear and for some reason my engine temp was very erratic, going from 84 to 103 then back down depending on if i was going around a corner or not. so limped the car home, turned the engine off only to notice smoke and the smell of burning plastic coming from around the battery area of the engine. on closer inspection the cable tie holding the engine loom in place had snapped (most likely from age) and …
