Well, with only a month to go until the dreaded MOT, I thought I had better tackle the rear outer ball joints. So far I have managed to get the passenger side out and will hopefully remove the drivers side tonight. My concern is, how do I go about getting the new ones in? If I drive them in, (well greased) I am worried I may break the flimsy shoulder off, and if I warm the arm up will I cook the grease out of the joint itself once it is in position. What would be the best way?

Had the custom sump made for the S14 transplant, 2 questions 1) Does it need some baffles, the capacity of the reserve is 3ltrs and I will run an accusump so will possible track oil starvation be a problem without any? 2) How much oil to run in the car, sump reserve holds 3 ltrs and would like this to stay as full as possible so how much extra to put in to allow for oil circulating through the engine/tubs while running?

Re-trims booked in for Monday, so i'm stripping all the panels out over the weekend. Is there anything I need to watch out for? I've had the door cards off a few times before, but not sure if they split or not. other than that the only parts i've managed to take off has been the bits under the steering wheel. So as always any tips or advice would be great. Regards Steve

Anyone know of a company that can do a removable towbar, so that I could tow a small trailer to go on holiday etc, but then not have the thing spoiling the look of the car for normal use? There's a company near me that have quoted just for a normal towbar, but they can't do a removable one, but there was a chap on here that had one (Chris C I think, don't know if he's still about) so I know they exist (or at least have done). Thanks, Phill

I had the day off today so set to work on my pearl white NA, mikey very kindly offered his services. The last engine failed resulting in a nice hole in the block... that lump was removed last november, the car has just sat there since then. The old autobox also had a fault apparently so thats come out too. After a day's work the new NA engine and manual TT box are in and fully plumbed in, just need to get some oils and finish a couple of bits off tomorrow then it'll be ready for starting! Mikey commented on the spacious engine bay in the NA's, loads more room than the TT's. This one is especially clutter free as its had several items reloc…

I've been playing with the graphing functions of this unit over the past few weeks and normally one good boost in gear looks like the left-hand side (when graphing boost), but more and more recently I've noticed sometimes when I'm belting it that the boost graph looks like it does on the right of the picture - performance is slightly but noticeably reduced while boost is scattered like this. I think it normally does it when the wheels are spinning (i.e. in 1st or 2nd), but could it be a sign of a slipping clutch or something else? It tends to do it in third gear mainly. If this happens, I back off and then reapply throttle and all is well again for the next few goes. Anyo…

Hi Dave, I've just had my renewal through and it now states that my car is not covered for theft or mallicious damage between the hours of 10pm-6am if it IS parked at or near my home????? What's that about? I'm about to stick some modifications on so I'll need to phone up for a re-quote anyway...but if I'm not covered for theft at night time at my own home then there's not much point to be honest

My Twin Turbo has a misfire on cylinder # 4. Me & Mikey Bean had a look today to try and resolve it, so far we've tried changing coilpacks, spark plugs, PTU, cleaned up coil pack connector, can hear injector ticking like all the others. Where can I go from here? Can someone give me an idea of what to try next please? Got bits kicking around if I need to swap things like ECU etc. :shifty: Any input would be most appreciated thanks :thumbup1:

Well car was fine yesterday, today strange notchy steering like it keeps getting snagged on something when turning, checked the PS pot and the correct amount of fluid is in there, checked the tyre pressure and although my passenger side was slightly lower than the drivers side, pumped it up and still the same, could this be related to the steering arms and my mysterious clunk i have at low speed?
