Decided at weekend to finally bypass the knock sensor as running on safety mode. Knock sensor appears to have no resistance or harness has broken down. After much time researching wire diagrams, the sensor has one wire from ECU pin 23 and this is the signal wire and the other wire being shielding around it which is ground. Basically a coaxial cable. My problem is that I have tried the 1 m ohmn resistor trick at the Harness ECU side and no luck, still getting code 34. I then decided to take it right back to the ECU to eliminate faulty wire. I have done the following, picked up pin 23 on ECU HARNESS and soldered 1m ohmn resistor then grounded it to engine blo…

Just curious whether there's a procedure to changing the CAS. I would search but the search facility is pants and doesn't let you search for 3 letter things. I've not tried to change it yet and it may well be obvious (markers or something) but I thought I'd ask as I'm wondering if I instal it wrong if it'll cause a problem

Who gets frustated by the fact when under your bonnet and you want to blip the throttle you either have to press down on the inner cable or roll the wheel back with oily mits which slips on the wheel:thumbdown: Solve this pain in the arse problem by getting a dremmel and increasing the size of the inspection hole above cable wheels on the throttle cover and be able to get your finger under the little "tang" on the wheel so you can blip your throttle like nature intended..was going to take pics but i could,nt be arsed:laugh:

Hi people, My power steering is very intermittent lately along with my speedo. If I loose my power steering, I also loose my speedo reading. Are these 2 related in any way?? I was guessing the pump is starting to fail, but it seems strange that the speedo reading goes at the same time?? Any ideas? Cheers, Alz. EDIT: After searching, it looks like the speed sensor behind the clocks....... Time to remove and look.

New Zed and my first "WTF?!" thread already. The speedo in my new toy doesn't work. It either sits on 0 and doesn't move, or it starts at 180 and doesn't start working (backwards) until you hit 70mph! The trip counter and odometer both work without any issues. The car's a 1991 TT auto import, just in case that makes any difference. Speed sensor? Dodgy wiring? Knackered speedo unit? Help!!!

  16. I collected my Z from Jeff's today after having a few niggles sorted.... The a/c needed regassing and the electric fan was not operating - but Jeff discovered the two faults were related. Basically as the electric fan was not cutting in, the a/c gas overheated and expanded, popping the rear seal on the compressor. Hence the gas all leaked out! So one replacement fan unit and compressor, followed by a re-gas and all is well..... .....Jeff also re-applied the underseal for me, fitted my new oil pressure sender (thanks Yewcheck) and sorted the lazy central locking on the passenger door. Thank you Jeff - you're a star. And thank you Lynda for the tea - it was g…

Alright guys, I've had the rear struts out this week. I checked through the service manual for the torque settings, the rear ones were around 20nm, that sounds LOW especially seeing as when I did the fronts it was 40 odd. So I checked that to, yeah its around 40nm, now I'm confused. Surely they would be the same its the same bolts at the same size doing the same job would the rears really be half the torque setting? Or have I misread the service manual.

So I'm debating on what to do with the timing belt covers whenever I get the belt sorted. The options I'm thinking of are: - kept the standard black covers - possibly clean up or re-paint black - paint blue to match the other stuff in the engine bay - get one of the top covers that ZCentre sell http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=78&category_id=14&keyword=Timing&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7
