Alright guys, I've had the rear struts out this week. I checked through the service manual for the torque settings, the rear ones were around 20nm, that sounds LOW especially seeing as when I did the fronts it was 40 odd. So I checked that to, yeah its around 40nm, now I'm confused. Surely they would be the same its the same bolts at the same size doing the same job would the rears really be half the torque setting? Or have I misread the service manual.

So I'm debating on what to do with the timing belt covers whenever I get the belt sorted. The options I'm thinking of are: - kept the standard black covers - possibly clean up or re-paint black - paint blue to match the other stuff in the engine bay - get one of the top covers that ZCentre sell http://www.zcentre.co.uk/index.php?page=shop.product_details&flypage=flypage.pbv.tpl&product_id=78&category_id=14&keyword=Timing&option=com_virtuemart&Itemid=7

  8. Hmmm something bad seems to have happened with the replacement engine I got fitted There didn't appear to be any problem when I picked the car up. The engine sounds OK and it seems to run OK however when I drove it back yesterday my friend who was following me said it was smoking a lot just from the near side exhaust but I didn't notice as the car felt like it was running fine This seems to have gotten worse today when ticking over the nearside ehxaust is 'splutterring' a bit like there is an intermittent misfire on that side and when you rev it you get copious amounts of white smoke from that exhaust - and I mean plenty of it!! I popped to the garage …

ive redone the targa trims and windscreen with plastidip, thats still looks like new nearly 4 years later (see my how to thread) but my door trims and rear glass trims are going a bit faded. is there any product that someone can definatley say yes its great. ive tried ptfe spray, bumper gel, even a peanut oil. all looks good for a while then fade again. is it time to order some more plastidip and do all the trims so they match.

What's the difference between the rear light Centre panels. I want a pristine one so I phoned Nissan for a price. My car is a 1990 which is what they based there search on. Before ordering I just wanted to make sure I'm getting the best one and that there aren't other variants which will look better???

  14. Hi all. Many moons since I visited the site so hello to all the old and new members. I sadley sold my Z last year after 15 year of ownership and trying to help the new owner with some issues. When I had the car the PTU connectors all rusted out, so I replaced the OEM plugs with individual spade clips(was a cheep fix at the time and lasted 10 years). He has replaced the PTU now but still not working, I suspect he may have connected the wires up wrong as the oem plugs are gone. Does anyone have a photo or know which colour wires go on which pins. Cheers

  17. Got a feeling my clutch Master Cylinder has broken. All fluid has drained away and clutch pedal has no pressure so very easy going to the floor! Even easier when engine running!! Done a bit of searching on the internet but can't seem to find one for my Twin Turbo anywhere... Can I use an NA one or are there any other Nissan's that use the same Clutch master cylinder?? Just to note I did away with the clutch booster years ago so always had a heavy clutch. Also is it easy to get hold of a repair kit for the clutch master cylinder? Any help on this would be much appreciated! Thanks!

Anyone know where I can get a reliable twin turbo engine for a manual 300zx I have spent far too much money trying to get mine right and it seems now 3 cylinders on the near side have no compression Done a wet compression test and it comes up Assuming rings gone now and am loosing faith in the turbo on the n/s as well I think a replacement engine and turbos would be a more positive solution Categories Uncategorized

Hi yesterday I was on the M27 motorway and it was p*ssing down, car running fine, hit the 50 mph restriction for 2 miles, dropped to 4th then 3rd to stay in limit. When I went to accelerate away just misfired and lost power, Cat overheat light came on for 4/5 seconds, changed up and ran ok, but if I tried to go over 3k revs would misfire. A few miles later and back in Pompey, no rain, car was running fine and was ok this morning. Any ideas to the problem? Rob

been meaning to post this for a few days now. i lost my phone in the z and couldnt find so after a stuggle and search i took the matts out and on the driver side i felt that carpet was damp. it wasnt soaking with water and there wasn't any order. but when i rubbed my hand into it did have a funky smell but ive never noticed it. i dont understand who what where when why and how its gotten damp. i havent spilt anything. it hasn't rained hard. but the sun was out when i noticed it. i did have the under carriage washed on the 20th of last month. im thinking maybe that is the reason. but from then till now still damp? i dont drive it when it rains and really only had it on the…

What the heck would cause the 10A Engine Cont fuse to keep blowing? When I replace it with a new one, it'll do 50-100 miles with no problem, then blow for no apparent reason. I can tell it's blown because the stock boost gauge suddenly sits all the way to the left and doesn't respond until I replace the fuse again (actual boost is fine, and measured correctly by my aftermarket gauge). Another symptom of the blown fuse is that the engine revs at idle drop ~50 - 100 rpm which doesn't sound much but I need to give her a bit of extra throttle to pull away otherwise it's as if she's about to stall.
