Hi All, I'm thinking of getting the exhaust de-catted on my 1990 TT auto. The mechanic I spoke to seems to think he'll need to weld a piece of pipe in the place of the cat - does that sound correct?? I thought it would be possible to remove the internals and leave the original pipework in place - any ideas...?? Cheers, RobH

Quick question, do Greenstuff pads (EBC) come with all the relevant clips too? I remember fitting genuine Nelson pads on the back which came with 2 retaining springs. Thanks in advance. Herman

Last night at about 1:00 at night I was coming home where suddenly this impreza pulls behind me. We were at a red light and I could hear his blow offs vavles screaming waitting for me to make a move. Green light ON and I hit it. He follows me but he cant passes me. I am gaining distance and we reach another red light. Same think again we both hit it and still he cant passes me. I am driving straight to the place where i made my test drive (in a 550 meter highway) and I let him come next to me going at about 30Km and we both hit it. I had my gear at Pos 1 (cause its AUTO) and I am about half car ahead and then change to D. That was it. By the end of the …

Just been to my local Nelsons to order a rad bottom hose for my UK auto. Fainted and cancelled when he got to the price(£51 + VAT). I asked about the search charge for JSpec cars and he showed me the memo. and he actually felt it was justified as people were using the dealers to get the Pt No and then buying it elsewhere cheaper. That was before we found the price for the hose! The memo actually says one charge covers up to 10 items, so a bit of integration for people needing bits and it could be as cheap as £3. per person. Hope this is a help.

As I was getting a bit miffed paying £2k for insurance I did a search and thanks to Atomics posting and the insurance factory - managed to get it down to £579. Thats for an import with declared mods - boost, exhaust and wheels. did not have to use my no claims bonus - 5000 miles per year. Similar to Atomic can use the car for to and from work - but with the money I saved I managed to buy a second car and insure that - still a £1000 a year better off. Thanks Atomic Mark

Right, a while back the Smith Meister(Smithy) put a post up about a group buy on APEXi(pukka) gear! So I have never really bought into the dump valve/blow off(raspberry) valves. But I want some. I have a Twin Tub and wanted the Blitz but bummer, they have stopped doing them! Why? Your guess is as good as mine! So, apparently the APEXi BOV's won't fit with a Stillen front! They must with a standard front as the APEX website states that they do BOV's for our cars. I am now in melt down, Rob_B has the HKS BOV's I think looking at his rides section. Point being that someone, can't remember who, said that coz the APEXi's are front engine mount they'll stick thro…

Just finallt managed to acquire a Z on import - 94 model, NA. very nice, though not got to do any serious driiving in it yet. It has something of a transmission problem though - a rear end vibration which occurs over 35mpg. I have no idea whats causing it and wondered if anyone here might have a clue. Its not the gerabox, nor the back diff according to the garage - next thing to look at is prop-shaft balancing (I had a problem wth this on my old Datsun and it feels similar). Any advice appreciated, cheers, -bat.

Ok so you all now about the big power engine rebuild i'm doing on my SILVER zed blah blah blah. I was cruising in my red zed last night after having done a caliper seal kit (huge difference by the way!). after a little thrashing the aire con went strangely cold! Parked up outside the house and sure enough, temp gauge started to rise and hissing for the engine bay. FFS took one zed off the road and now this one looks like its going too! one of the little water pipes under the inlet manifold collector had split. so spen the whole of today (sunday) pulling the intake manifold collector off and replacing all the water pipes etc and decided to clean the throt…

got a problem with the boot lid. Its loose. The boot pull doesnt work, well it does if you pull it and lift. Anyway, its annoying. Ive removed the trim piece covering the catch and there are 3 bolts holding it in i think. Anyway only one is height adjustable. So I loosen it, push the mechanism right down as low as it will go. tighten it back up to the point where it starts to strip the thread off the bolt. I close the boot lid and it goes loose again right away. So how to fix it? Thanx

Well - decided to take the car to be MOTed yesterday. It's due in the end of May but I thought I'd get a head start. I've been to this small garage twice before now for my Rover and he seemed ok. Took the Z - for the first 5 minutes he proceded to ask me "why I had bought a piece of shit like that" and how shit he thought they were. I thought, thats rich coming from a Renault Espace driver. Anyway, got my justice when he headed butted my front tyre after slipping on the tyre shine spray. I nearly pissed myself but thought better of it incase he failed me on something silly. Anyway, it did fail on 2 things. 1 was a worn "Pre Load Rubber". Haven't checke…

Alas unable to afford the insurance for both the Jag and the Z. Just had the renewale notice from Tesco and it stated the car had no mods. I queried this with the little boy on the phone and he said that I had been driving the car illegally for the past year as I had not disclosed the mods. I was fucking mad with him because I queried the same thing last year when the policy arrived and was told that the mods I had made no difference as I had not fitted them myself. Anyway they now want £1200 for a years protected full no claims as opposed to £780 I paid last year. Compare this to the £265 I pay fully comp for my 4 litre Jag and you will see the reason why I have told the…
