Startig my install soon, and it should hopefull turn out quite nice Quick questions for anyone that has routed power cable through their zed: Where can you get through the bulkhead Any particularly good earth points in the boot? Are the standard battery and alternator up to much, or is it worth upgrading? Thanks!

and another one ! diving along at 60 / 70 and whenever I lift of the accelerator the box drops down a gear - the problem doesn't seem to happen when I don't use the overdrive so I'm hoping that there is a sensor or something rather than complete rebuild - it's a pin in the **** on the motorway but no problem round town - has this happened to anyone else ? As this started the gearbox spat it's fluid, which was replaced within a couple of slow miles but the new fluid has stayed in there althought he problem continues - is there any sort of reset I can do on the electronic controlling the box ?

any ideas? Car pretty much refuses to start until it has cooled down - need to leave the bonnet up for about 1/2 hour out of the sunshine and then it starts ok - points to the ptu which hasn't been changed ? (Always seems to start from cold) Just wouldn;t mind some reassurnace before I start giving main delaer my money ! cheers

Been wondering about a Brake Res. brace, and perhaps later a front Strut brace, but did not realise the two could get in each others way. Ben's Aus300ZX site has this interesting post http://216.197.105.114/forum/index.cfm?action=getMessage&message=25463&forum=1 . If you take a look at the replies and the pics Ben has posted ("Have a look at this John"), it has an interesting solution (AbFlug?). Has anybody gone the route of Brake & Strut bracing? Does the SE Brake Strut fit in this way? [This message has been edited by Geoff (edited 21-08-2002).]

Can anyone tell me what the four sensors on the exhaust system are? There are two per pipe, one before and after the cats and there is a silver coloured lead going to each one. Only, the lead has come off one of the sensors towards the rear of the car on the nearside pipe and is dragging on the floor and I can't see a simple way of re-attaching it. Any idea of the effects of leaving this lead unattached?

was told at work today ( AS U DO ) when my sump was getting pressurised due 2 insufficient breathers it caused i think my rear engine oil seal to leak and even blew the dipstick out!! i have since fitted uprated breathers and no more smoke from rear thank god!! but the lad at work told me that now there is no more pressure in the sump your oil seal will bed in again and stop leaking hmmmm!!! is this true guys??

After driving home tonight, I parked up and then set about washing the car. Whe I poured cold water over the windscreen, the runoff which should go straight down through drain holes, seemed to go down and directly onto a VERY hot part of the engine (the turbo?). I could hear the water turning rapidly to steam. Is this normal, as this could happen while driving in rain ?! It only seemed to happen on the passengers side.

Ok, I changed my front bumper and near side wing, stock for stock, Mine is a UK 94, the bumper and wing were from a UK 93. Everything seemed to go ok but when I came to close the bonnet, I have a 1cm gap between the bonnet and the lights/centre panel. Any thoughts ??? Cheers, David

Bought these by mistake a few weeks ago. They are NOT for regular 2+2 Zeds but rather for those 2+2 Zeds that have a plastic strip (approx. 1" wide = 2.5cm) across the front of the targas. Not sure how else to describe them. If placed in targas without this strip there will be a gap of approx 1". Put another way, they are shorter than the regular targa shades. If anyone wants these then they can have them for what I paid for them = £35 (incl p+p within the UK). Let me know! Cheers, Danny

I have just been speaking to Cybercraft who say that they can supply a cat back mongoose exhaust system for £445 delivered if we can get people together to buy five systems. This is over £100 off rrp. Anybody interested?

Since I got my old Rover back on the road, the Z is now a weekend-only car. The fuel bill's a bit more acceptable now. However when I start it after a long rest all week, it sounds (and feels) like there's a cylinder off. But when it gets up to temperature it's OK again. The Conzult power balance test says everything's OK. What could be up here? Any thoughts? Could it be the power transistor? Ta.

Hi I live in Chester (North West UK) and i need a home based mechanice (i.e. doesn't charge £25 per hour) who is good with 300 TT's. Need someone within a reasonable distance of Chester, less then 20 miles would be great. I'll pay a fair rate (in cash) but I aint flush and I aint stupid, any work required would NOT be given the go-ahead from me until a quote has been given and approved by myself. The basic symptoms of my car are this: Rough, uneven idle, stalling occasionally. Water leaks from back of engine, looks like perished/incorrectly fitted hoses. I haven't the time or the mechanical skills to do this job.....I reckon the manifolds n…

Help, I've just had a gearbox fitted and in the process the mechanic has snapped a lead that was connected to the exhaust. The lead in question is a silvery looking thing and it looks like it goes to some sort of a sensor behind the catalytic convertor. It looks like there are four of them in total, Two for each pipe, one before and one after the cats. Now, after about 8 mins or so once the car is warm she is running as rough as rats, like the mixture is too rich or something. Can anyone out there tell me what this lead and sensor is? and the best way to fix it??
