Hi Paul,

I'll let the more knowledgable comment on your queries, but I just wonder if "chipped" means just that the Speedo has been chipped - so that it shows and records MPH and has the maximum speed limiter removed (cars in Japan are restricted to around a 115 mph max)? Just a thought.

Geoff

Yeah, must mean chipped that the 112 rev limiter has been taken off.

The speedo is a converter that is on the dial I think. Never acually known where it was though.

If you really want to know if its been chipped its to put another turbo gauge on, and if it goes over 9psi at boost, it sounds like its been chipped.

I think Jap stock turbo gauge is in N's or something, and doesnt show anything over the stock boost level.

Put your foot right down on an empty road - if it will do 170mph it has been chipped if not it hasn't.

thanks guys i had it up to 130 and its mph on the clock also the boost gauge goes almost to the top i pick the car up on wednesday as its got to go for some test in glasgow

Is it the stock boost gauge (in the dashboard)? If it is and it doesn't go off the scale, it shows that no boost upgrade has been done - NOT that it hasn't been chipped. It's assumed that if you chip the car you'll do a boost upgrade to get the most from it - not neccessarily so, you can have one without the other.

My jap goes up to +7 and is in mmHg - used to get close to +7 on standard boost.

Cheers!

yes its the stock boost gauge and it hits the top but doesnt look like its going off the scale but i pick it up on wednesday and ive got a nice apexi gauge from ebay so it should show the boost better i will also put it on the rolling road when i get it any idea what it should be pushing out with the super draggers? thanks again guys

Paul

Get an accurate aftermarket gauge - however if its hitting +7mm/hg that equates to .13ish PSI which is higher than stock.

Even with the notoriously wibbley stock gauge that still indicates higher than normal boost.

Well done.

Now go and use it smile.gif

Good luck.

be carefull with warranty. bearings are not covered on 90% of them. wheel clutch and turbo bearings.

read warranty carefully first or get them to do it before you buy £150 to £250 to get that done.

they dont want to deal at all and its the only manual within a 300 mile radius

the funny thing is i had a list of what i wanted

1:uk car

2:manual

3:leather

4:targa tops

5:standard

6:k plate or newer

7:black

8:not from a dealer

9:get an aa/rac inspection

10:not a penny over 6000

i guess 3 out of 10 aint bad lol
