I am know considering fixing my Z up for proper sale. The car has two speciifc faults. Cylinder head gasket leaking into the bores and the Air Con Compressor knackered. Best option to replace the unit completely - easier Buy a gasket set and skimm/replace the head I where i can get a Air Con Compressor £195 which would suit being done at the same time. Presently the car is for sale at just £1,500. I need premises in the Shrewsbury area where i can work on it, i have a CD Rom maintenance manual. But what do you guys think?

Got the gearbox off this afternoon. Hardest part was dragging the bloody thing out from under the car! I had to get it off the transmission jack under the car, then drag it out the side with millimetres to spare. So exhaust, propshaft, gearbox and plenum are now all off (plenum was removed before I decided I was pulling the engine). I'm ordering an engine stand this week and pulling the engine next weekend. The front of the engine is stripped back to the timing belt. As far as I can work out, there's very little else to do before lifting it: Remove the air con compressor and tie it out of the way. Remove the PAS pump. Remove the heater hoses. …

After replacing the fuel filter (57,000 miles, (10 year old car - I dont know if its the original filter) I have noticed that the hesitation under hard acceleration is gone, and the acceleration seems better. By the way, I first went to Halfords for the filter, the guy told me he could order one, would be £25! I asked him what would be the price without the free tank of petrol (he did not appreciate the humour) - I then went to Nissan dealer and bought it for £11.98, a pleasant surprise. Sometimes Nissan parts are not to bad in price. Cheers John

I've got no central locking currently. Have just replaced the relay inside the drivers door and still no joy. I am going to check the fuses (not even sure which one it will be) but will check them all. There is a cable that runs inside the door from the internal catch to the locking mechanism. THis has broken but I can still lock and unlock the door from the key. Is this likely to affect the central locking? ANy advice greatly appeciated. Door in bits and it's started raining. Thanks, Ice

Well many of us have fitted these dash kits to our Zeds but I came across this company in the US that does some interesting finishes including coloured real carbon fibre. Have a view and tell me what you think. link: http://www.edashkit.com Geoff.

Hi - I am new to the forum and new to the idea of owning a 300zx - I have made my mind up to buy one - based upon the reviews I have read and obviously their stunning looks. I have had a look at two so far, both TT's, one was an import, one was a UK car, both were 1991 (J). Both were really tatty - I am not a perfectionist - but am looking for as tidy a one as I can. I have another to look at this weekend - it is a 1991 (H) TT import - 55,000 miles in red and is apparently in immaculate condition. It sounds like it fits the bill. Can anyone give me any particular pointers towards things to look out for and things to avoid etc. I am not a novice - I know my way aroun…

I have a stock n/a 91 ZX with around 60K miles, I have just noticed that while pulling up at traffic or parking etc and putting into neutral or park the engine revs climb to about 2000 from a normal 800-1000 ish, i turn off engine and most times the problem is cured. What is likely to be reason for this on and off problem and what should I try to cure it

Does anyone know if it is successful to use a relay with a higher wattage (100 watts) H3 low beam bulb, and if so, how is it wired and what relay do you use. Thanks John

Busy trying to fit a new rear wheel bearing. Got the old one off but have a couple of problems... Firstly, part of the old bearing inner surface has seized to the wheel hub. Any advice on how to get that off? Tried heating the thing up in oven but hasn't made any difference. Secondly, the hub surface that fits inside the bearing seems worn and quite loose. Should there be any play in this or should it be a really snug fit? If the wheel hub is knackered too anyone know how much one of those is? Cheers David

I was told by a few people that the engine has to be removed when removing the turbos. But when looking at the 300zx service manual, it actually shows you how to remove them, & no mention of engine removal. Does anyone know anything about this?

Hi guy's and gal's I have a loud moaning noise from the back of my UK 300ZXTT. Now it's always there in a straight line and going round bends but seems to get worse when turning right so loading up the left hand side. I know the rear subframe bushes are weeping fluid but I was wondering if this could cause the noise? I sure hope it's not the diff? Also has anyone ever replaced/had replaced these bushes? How much of a job/what was the cost? Ivan

The difference in price is huge - I've seen manual controllers for as little as £10 on ebay and £30 in Halfords. By contrast, most of the decent electronic controllers (Blitz/Apexi etc) are around the £500 mark. Is it really worth the extra money just to be able to change the boost levels from the drivers seat? Do the electronic ones do something extra?? I have boost jets at the moment and will need a bit more control over the performance once the turbo upgrade is complete, but I really don't know what to go for! Any ideas guys? Thanks Ch:)

Hi fellaz, big help needed. I think that my left hand side turbo seals have gone. Does anyone know about this so that I can get it checked out properly. I am in Leeds West Yorkshire. My regular MOT guy told me this, cos the car is starting to smoke a lot, and he says that he can smell oil. Cheerz. :(
