Evening All Just took my tt for it's MOT this afternoon, and found one of the fuel tank mounting straps had corroded through. I have ordered two new ones to replace them both. I see the bolt at the front of the strap is quite well tucked away - has anyone else done this job, and if so did you need to remove the rear wheel steering rack, or worse, the diff. to get at the bolt head? Hope not! :-( Cheers

I'm pulling the engine tomorrow but I'm not 100% sure the best way to fit it to the engine stand. I'd presumed I was going to attach the stand to the bell housing but the manual shows a stand attached to the side of the engine. Any thoughts on this anyone?

I have been having problems recently with a lumpy tick over, and a misfire at high revs. My car seems to not like been left too long without being driven. I got in after xmas and the tickover was lumpier than Nora Battys cellulite. After a few days though it was running fairly nice with a few dips everynow and then. I thought I had resolved this when I cleaned loads of green gunk out of the contacts on top of each cylinder. At the same time as all this was going on I noticed that when I hoofed it at the top of the rev range it would sort of misfire, not banging as such more of a dull thud at machine gun rate. So I cleaned out the greenstuff and the tickover is now sorted,…

OK I've got a switch but when I press it both mirrors start to fold but then "clack-clack" and stop without really moving. Sounds like a slipping or worn nylon gear to me - both at the same time? Is there a second release switch I need to press to fold them in?

Had the car in for its MOT today and the tester found the source of the leak that has me topping up the HICAS reservoir every couple of months... Looks like a leak down by the power steering pump? Thats what the tester called it anyway, showing me a smallish Nissan box nestled underneath the car while it was up on the ramp. Can the seals around the hoses going into this be replaced? The tester was hinting that the whole pump might need to replaced! (There's never been any problem with the car other than requiring that occasional top-up.) Any help appreciated PJ

Just had car running and with a DVM tried finding the wire I need to put the +ve on to measure .4V There is a plug into the side of the TPS (I think both these read 12V) and there is a wire coming off to a loom with a detachable plug. You cannot get the DVM probe down the side of any 3 wires in this. Disconnecting keep engine running but then putting probe on all contacts could not get .4V I think I got one reading .46V but it was raining, I was getting p***d wet through and no amount of moving the TPS would adjust this Any advice? (apart from - wait till it stops raining)

My HKS superdrager has deffo seen better days, so if my z runs sweet when its back together, I might treat it to a new back box. What do people think of these ?? They're only £99+ vat, so just a touch cheaper than another superdrager AND its all stainless, not like my HKS......... Plus Vikkis' already got one on her car, and it does sound reallygood:)

While replacing one of my turbo coolant pipes, I've managed to damage the drain plug on the radiator. Anyone know the best/quickest place to get one from, or whether you can actually get them separate from a complete radiator ? Thanks Ash

Hi, Finishing my TT conversion off in the next couple of days!! I thought I had a fully functioning and complete HKS EVC with which to control the boost, because I was using an NA loom! But this HKS EVC is looking dubious and it might have to be replaced! In the meantime am I right in thinking I could just plumb the turbos and actuators in, and presume this would just operate at stock boost! Stock boost would be what I want anyway until I have run the engine in!!

What do you think guys? Had quite a bad spin out on the way home today from work... Coming round a left hand bend, back end flipped out from me and I went spinning... About 3 times I think  The car is quite damaged. Front bumper grazed, wing, rear bumper, rear light cluster(electrics), rear O/S wheel bent in (meaning the wishbone etc is bent), both tailpipes, and a 4 inches of tree stuck in the boot!! I feel like sh*t!! - What I've done - After the accident the farmer came out and started raving about his hedge (which I took out in places - twice). I have signed a piece of paper saying I skidded and took out property owned by h…

just coming back up the motorway and decided to gun it (up to 70mph of course) past these lorries. Foot down - boost kicks in then judder, engine managment seems to kick in throttle off, look very worried, gun again, engine judders and seems to hold back. Could this be down to an incorrect setting on my TPS as I took it off yesterday to try on a mates car?

OK, I've told the girlfriend we can't have a holiday this year, and maybe I'll give up smoking too so I can (sort of) afford this 300ZX I mentioned before. (It's on autotrader, 1999 S-red, auto, non-turbo, Jap import, 35,000 miles). Any idea what should I check when I go and look at it? I've had a look at several on line buyers guides and there's so much information it's a bit confusing. I'm hoping cos it's from a dealer and reasonably new, if it does go wrong I can go back and make him fix it (I'm a consumer journalist!). But any advice would be really handy. I'm mechanically competent with bikes but not really with cars. Thanks folk. Tim
