General Discussions - 300ZX Related

Currently thinking of going from my S13 (over 200 bhp) to a Z. Looked through all the help topics and studied the figures. Currently average 26-27 MPG but I like the look of the Z and reckon I wont see much difference. Prefer Auto TT. Go on then flame or persuade me. :slap:

I was looking at this 300 I might buy and noticed the paint on the bodywork just behind the front wheels looked a little more 'rough and textured' that everywhere else. It was so near i could beleieve that's how it left the factory. Just wondering if that is the case or of if might be hiding some horrors? Cheers Tim

does anyone know were i can order a strosek wide body kit for the 300zx. i saw one installed on a car on a website, but i cant find anywhere to buy it.

Think my starter is on its way out. Car starts but the starter sounds like crap. Load tested the battery and all seems well there. If it is the starter, does anyone here have an idea of replacement costs and what is involved? Cheers

Hi all, In the very near future I will be treating the Zed to a boost upgrade. I Intend to fit a Zedworld chip and jets along with a good quality boost gauge running 14 psi. I know its better to fit a boost controle module but as Im moving house, money is a little tight at the mo! Have already fitted a mongoose, Apex induction and ACT clutch. My question is, will I expect to see a rapid acceleration on the wear of the engine and turbos, splitting hoses ect.... Bear in mind most of the time the car gets driven very gently with the occasional blast now and again. Engine has done around 90k miles and all parts are original as far as I am aware. All in good…

Have been offered some nearly new HKS Hipermax II coilovers for the swb version s. (if i get it)Will these fit the swb ok as there probably off a 2+2. For fast road use only are coil-overs overkill or for the right price are they worth having. Is this a good brand or is there a better recommended one as ive no experience in coil-overs.

As the SWB are obviously shorter does this make the doors different or the windows shorter or is it all behind on the rear wing/tailgate?

What's the best deal on rear tyres for standard wheels. Size, make and approx price. The outer edge of both rear tyres have worn badly. Nissan dealer says track rod ends have gone but they look and feel OK to me. Any ideas.

Ive just been offered some 18" Split Rim 5 spoke wheels with a deep dish. 2nd Hand but very good condition, rubber is pretty good too. They have come of a 300zx so no probs there. However the guy wants a grand - no offers. Is that a fair price?

My front fog lamps came lose the other week. WTF! how do you get to the buggers without an arm that bend in 6 places or taking the front bumper off. I took the front crap guard off the wheel and could virtually see what I want to tighten but it was simply impossible. I then tried to take other guard off but it simple just didnt make it any easier. Whats the knack? Cheers Rod

Has anyone got a standard zx spoiler with brake light they wish to sell, please dont suggest a fibreglass replica as I don't want to spend hundreds on the bloody thing, just a good s/hand one, any colour but must be in good nick with no cracking or bubbling. thanks mike

Looking at a 97 black, twin turbo, swb (coupe), version S manual with 11,000m on the clock totally standard. Has anybody got any idea of a good price for this particular model? Havnt seen one before in version S guise, is this worth snapping up? Any input would be great help.

Got some aftermarket intercoolers and, I believe, the ducting fouls on the back of the bulb holder when replacing the Jap spec sidelights, the ones at the outer edge of the front bumper! How have people got around this?

I've had the Z two days now! Yeah did the right thing! But....lost the posts about the guy that makes up targa covers. Any body help? Secondly, everything seems fine, but the boost gauge just sits in the middle. General 'go' says the car is good, but any clues on what to look for to fix this? cheers ed

Hi- Can anyone advise- where do the t-top drain holes actaully drain to? and is there some pipe work in the pillars? Also- anyone know where I can get a complete set of new seals from and what they're likely to cost? Thanks

Japanese Performance Issue 37 Feb 2004 dropped through my letterbox this morning. 2 Zs on the front cover: a 260Z (main pic - wondrous) and a track-prepped 300ZX Z32 from http://www.opposite-lock.net/ The blue 260Z was featured in the ZClub mag last issue but it looks so good (and has 400bhp) it's well worth another article!

I'm in the middle of fitting my carbon kit & I need to get the alarm light & little button out to fit the next bit. Does anyone know what to do here. I'll probably relocate them but I daren't disconect them to get them out. Cheers anyone :)

this is an update on the noise i now get from my z,its a wineing noise,its fine on intial start up,even when the cars warm.but after a while you get this wineing noise,rev the engine and the wines there too.just started today after the cars been sitting for a week,been out for a drive and it hasnt cleared...not happy:(

After using my ConZult diags I got an error 34 knock sensor 13 starts ago. I have searched through threads to get a basic idea of what this means but would like to know what detonation is? I have never noticed my Zed going into safety mode and have never had any performance issues with it. If this circuit was disconnected and the car was turned on, will the ECU return this error. The only work I've had done near the det sensor circuit is the heater matrix pipes. I've cleared the errors and reset my ECU and now get Code 55. If this knock error returns, does it mean it needs looking into or could it just be a one off? Cheers Dom

Hi all I recently had a 4-wheel allignment adjustment done (following replacement of front ball joint) and the steering wheel is now not quite straight - it's about 1cm down to the right. I went back to the allignment guy 3 times and that was the best he could get it. He specialises in the more unusual cars, Zeds GTOs Porkers and those lowered to fook, so he doesn't seem a fool. He reckons all the settings are spot on now, including the front track, suggesting someone before simply unbolted and replaced the steering wheel. I've now noticed the steering gets much stiffer after a long m'way run (especially in a 125mph r'hand curve yesterday - scared the fook …

Anyone got a Con-rod they want to sell? as i've found that i need another as when i had the oil feed problem it must have damaged the rod. Not too botherd if its a second hand one as i will be changeing them all next year with some 'other' mods. Just need one to get it up and running for now! Cheers people!

Got a fluid leak ,appears to coming from the reservoir or where it mounts to the master cylinder, anyone have experience of a similair problem.

just drove the z and now it sounds like when you rev a radio controlled car.i last drove it a week ago and it was fine then.. it happens when i accelerate.if i stop,turn of the engine,then start it again its fine for a while,then i get this weired noise like an electric motor,with a slight hiss,not sure if the hiss was road noise as the road was damp.this is more alarming than the previous compressor sound i mentioned before...help:confused:
