This has never worked since I bought the car. When I press the switch on the right console the green dash light comes on, but when I press 'set coast' on the wheel, nothing happens. The wires are plugged in at the back of the wheel and I also checked the switch behind the gas pedal by pulling it up with the top of my foot whilst trying to engage cruise. Still nothing. All the fuses are ok too. Any ideas? Thanks guys Ch

James300's question has just reminded me of a little problem i seem to be experiencing with my dash clock. It seems to be loosing time BIG time. Is this a common prob, or could it be that there is a possibility that something has hit it, but i doubt this. Are the standard clocks crap, or have i just got an old sh**y one ?? :D Dave

...and measure the hole that the clock sits in? Thanks.

having trouble gettin air out of system, have found a larger pipe that is connected to hydraulic system that runs along inner wing to the front of car behind headlight it as a bleed valve on the end of it but why is it there as it seems to be the cause of the problem, can it be done away with or is there an easier way to bleed the system. cheers

Right - swapped my TPS onto my mates car to prove fault - his is knackered (Pete Shrimp - I could do with buying your spare off you mate). When I put my TPS back on my car I just adjusted it down to a tickover of about 800 while engine was running by moving it up and down - Is that all I have to do or do I have to do anything else like reset ECU? However . . . . This still hasnt cured his boost problem On full throttle it sounds like a fluttering noise, could this be a diapraghm in one of the recirc valves not closing hence no boost build up. On tickover Boost guage reads 0 Revving it drops the boost guage to -5(ish) when going and boost kicks in it…

Hi All, there's been a lot of good advice on the subject of my duff oil pressure sender (at least I hope it's the sender and not an expensive hole somewhere). Thanks to all who posted. The answers raised the difference between a mechanical gauge (capilliary tube between engine and gauge) and an electronic one (sender installed in engine, electrical leads to gauge). One view says that mechanical gauge is the only reliable one, other view says modern electric senders are OK. What's your experience? (I didn't bother to have an option in favour of the stock sender / electric gauge as everyone told me they're rubbish!) Cheers - Gio

How can I tell what year my car is? All I know is that it was registered in the UK in 98 and the guy that sold me it, said it was a 89 or 90.

There is some kind of relay directly underneath the locking mechanism in the drivers door. It's pretty much in the corner of the door so almost behind you if you are driving the car. I presume that my one has bust as everything else seems fine. I can't seem to work out how to get the thing out. No visible screws. Has anyone done this before? Many thanks, Ice

Hi folk. I've seen a 300zx for sale. It's a japanes import, non-turbo, automatic, 35,000 miles. It's 1999 (S-reg) and up for £11,500. I'm tempted to get it but I'm worried as it's non-turbo. Is non turbo much slower (especially automatic) than the twin turbo ? Are any other parts different (ie suspension / brakes etc) ? Could I turbo it later without having to change much else ? Many thanks people Craig David (ok, that's a joke; I'm not really Craig David, soul sensation)

hi every one I do my best to describe this! upon braking quite hard I can hesar and feel a knock, then when I pull away it knocks agian, ive just done the tension rods so carn't be that, just been undercar with wheels in the air and I carn't see anything worn , but the anti roll bar links do feel really slack , (loads of movement in the ball joints) the suspension does knock when I go over bumps. could it be the anti roll bar links that cause this knocking and cluncking when braking? many thanks mates for any advice. JIM.

So what are these style car parking bollards all about then? At my local Gym there's these ridiculous bollards that are about the size of a medicine ball, mounted on the ground and are made of concrete with ingrained stones. How pleased I was then that I found a space right next to them in the car park so that no prat with an A Reg escort could try and sqeeze in to the already tiny spaces this place provides. Coming out on a high after gazing at all the girlies in tight tops and spandex and decided to exit the car park the other way. Whoops, totally forgot about the bollard which you can't see at all when in the car. I now have quite a lot of damage to the Sill…

Recently I was noticing a smell of petrol occassionaly, so last weekend I replaced the fuel filter, all the hoses with high pressure rubber fuel line ( I could not quite afford the nice steel braided ones this month) and all new hose clamps. I still have the occassional petrol smell, I have ran the engine and inspected for leaks - no leaks. I am at a loss as to where the smell is coming from, when the smell is there it is when sat at the traffic lights mainly. Are there any valves or gismos that could be responsible for causing this petrol smell ? Any suggestions on where to look next would be greatly appreciated. Thanks John Dixon
