Came across this over on the land rover forum. Its apparently for diagnosing problems on those wonderful solihull machines, but the downloads are free. Doesnt mean a great deal to me being an engineer and not too electircally minded, so thought you genius eletrickery wizards might know if its of any use. (But Nick, we still need the special adaptor to connect it into the car with, and you know they are soooo expensive)!! Nick

Major stink of petrol for first 15 minutes or so of driving and greyish smoke from the exhaust whenever idling even when fully warm Have changed the fuel lines so that's not the cause of the stink Conzult shows a dead O2 sensor, but both are dead on my other Zed without the same symptoms Any ideas most welcome

On a manual I have replaced my gearknob with a small alloy round one with blue led's :o However, now the leather does not come up to meet the bottom of the new knob. So I thought why not kill 2 birds with one stone, I like the idea of a short-shifter (I presume the gear change is quicker due to a shorter throw) So. . . . . Can I just hacksaw off the top inch or whatever then remount the new knob? Would this be the same as buying a short shifter or is there some other fundamental difference?

I am going to replace the fuel lines in the engine bay, what inside diameter is the tubing ? I will see if my local Blueprint dealer has braided tubing, if not I will buy the standard rubber variety. Thanks John

Hiya all, Im 23 and currently have a rev2(220bhp) mr2 turbo which I love, I think its top and its v. fast and all, but Ive had it over a year now, and basically I want something a bit faster! Thing is, I cant afford a supra, and I thought the closest thing with a twin turbs and v6 sound is a 300zx! Ive been toying with the idea for a while, but would it be worth the upgrade as on paper the speeds arnt really that different with the zx being so heavy etc. Also Ive seen bhp figures for zx @300 and 280hp? which one is right? What sort of BHP can you easily squeeze out of them. Im in 2 minds at the moment anyway, whether to just keep the old tubby wh…

Tonight went to take Zed out and as I backed out of the garage I noticed the hand brake light was still on, discovered it's staying on even with hand brake released. The brakes are disengaging. Any ideas? Car is an import. Is it a warning for something? Brake pads, brake fluid or does hand brake wire need adjusting. Help appreciated. Geoff.

All, I've got a sticky throttle which is being caused by the highlighted pipe/plug which has popped out (slightly) and is catching on the accel. rod. What can I stick this back with? When the engine warms up it's better but not perfect. Thanks, Ice.

I have a slight issue with the HICS warning light coming on when on a long journey. It has only happened over the weekend and does not effect the car immediately. After 30 minutes the steering gets heavy and the only way to rectify this is to turn the car off and back on again and the light go straight out? Any ideas? Many Thanks Ben

My main lights are incredibly crap. I have to run my front fogs on all the time to see where I'm going. It looks like the lenses may be cloudy or steamed up? Any advice? Thanks, Ice

For the past six years or so I've been trying to restore a 2 seater 260Z. Things have moved along in fits & starts as they do, but I just can't see the light at the end of the tunnel. A promotion looming at work gives me a company car allowance although I don't need to travel much for the job, and the wife has agreed what a good idea it would be for me to buy a twin turbo 300. (top girl) I suspect this may have come up before but I'm looking for any advice going that can help me in my quest to drive a Zed again. What should I look out for, what do I want or want to avoid? Do they all come with the toys? (air con, cruise, elec seats etc etc) Should I avoid th…

My brakes have gone dead, hardly any pressure on the brakes, I have had the brake master cylinder changed, and also had the system bled, but still the same problem. What else can it be? Your suggestions will be most welcome. CheerZ.

Hi all, want to get an alarm fitted and having rung around a few local companies i have been quoted for the following, Sigma M30, Toad A1606, Clifford Concept 300 and GT Autos 636/444. Any of you got these fitted or know someone that has, I would like to know how reliable these units are and how good they do the job, any comments would be gratefully recieved, cheers, Richard.

I thought I'd try and bonk some knowledgable heads together, Have a problem with an MR2 turbo, stock apart from exhaust and blitz induction kit. If idle is set to standard of 750 RPM the car appears to run fine but every now and then it will stall whilst idling, usually when light on the accellerator or just coming off, If the idle is adjusted to 1200rpm the car will not stall but every now and then the revs will drop to around 400rpm. Obviously the high idle is stopping the car from stalling. What could be causing this? I've replaced the AFM (air flow meter) as this is what garage reported the problem as being, however the problem persists. Apart from…

got a problem with clutch while driving when i went for next gear pressed clutch it went straight to floor and did not return, lost all pressure looked in resovoir and it was drained. checked underneath and could see the slave cylinder had popped out which means the clutch arm had no pressure to keep it in place obviously something has gone inside clutch, is this a common problem if so what has happened. the clutch was working perfectly before this happened. had some quotes for a new clutch fitted, quite a hefty bill would the thrust bearing have caused problem because it did make a bit of noise when depressing pedal if so could be cheaper way out or would this …

Looks like I might have a fuel leak. Is there any particular weakness in the engine bay that crops up more than others? Am also interested in people's mileage. I seem to be getting around 120 miles to a tank. TT with Turbo Technics Turbo's at approx 0.68 bar. Is this about right? Thanks, Ice

Anyone know where I can get one of these from and how much I should be paying? Also, is there an idiots guide to fitting it anywhere? Plan to add a pair of Smithy's nice shiny pipes at the same time, sick to death of my leaky rad caused by knackered plastic bits at the sides!

Nissan want almost £240 for a pair of shitty rubber mounts which is an absolute joke! I've seen some poly ones on an Australian site which are cheaper but does anyone know if there are any alternative uprated ones available here? Tried MJP but no luck. Cheers, Chris.
