Hi all, I am in need of some advice from the more technically minded lot out there.

  2. I want to stick some heat resistant matting to the underside of my plenum! It is a cloth type material being stuck to metal and it has to withstand the heat from the Tubs and manifolds! NE1 know where I could get this from?

I can get a custom exhaust made up for minimal cost. However not being one for a silly loud exhaust do I need to put some form of back boxes in to reduce the noise ? has anyone got a straight through ( Cat Back ) on their car ? How loud is it ? What diameter should I run from cat back ? Lastly, I undersand the Jap import has some form of 'choker' ???? in the exhaust, what is it, where is it, should I remove it and how do I if I should ? Apologies for all the questions at once.

Can anyone recommend a decent sub box that would fit in the boot. I need to be able to store the T-Tops too. These boots are far too shallow. I have found a JBL Bass tube but it is 33CM high and causes the rear parcel shelf cloth to stick up, showing theres something in the boot. Not only that its that bloody long I cant fit me T Tops in. I spose I can get a custom made one but I didnt know if anyoine here had bought one and could recommend a model. Ta

My fuel warning light is misbehaving - it comes on even when the tank is full. And then it goes off. And then it comes on again. This week, it is mostly staying on. From the manual (pages FE-3, EL68), it seems the warning light sensor is in the same assembly as the Fuel pump and gauge assembly. Looks like a dodgy connection somewhere. Hopefully. Has anyone else had this and what did you do about it? Thanks - Gio

Gonna try doing that this weekend - doing the thermostat, the two stubby soft pipes and the two hard pipes that connect to the engine block in case they are corroding. Does anyone have any tips or tricks for this - mines an auto so I WONT be removing the radiator or I'll have trans fluid everywhere.... Ta.

Morning! Hardly the biggest 'problem' lol but something that got me thinking this morning. Trundling along normally lightly resting on the accelerator pedal as you do... when I lift off, there is what I can describe as engine braking for a second, quite noticeable when you are thinking about it. I'm sure it has always done this but can anyone explain what the autobox does when you lift off the pedals? :) Is it simply the clutch disengaging? Cheers Pete

Morning all. Was gonna buy a new gearnob as mines looking a tad tired - picked one up (a universal one) which has a little grubscrew on etc, but cannot work out how to take mine off? Bloke in the shop said I'd have to hacksaw it off and butcher it then just fit the new one. Please tell me hes off his head and theres a proper way to do this. This is why I like doing jobs myself coz he was gonna fit it for me!!!

Been thinking about having a single exit system made. What bore pipe would be required? I'm thinking that when the 2 pipes from the cats merge together it'll have to be into so fairly wide bore pipe to avoid restriction. Maybe someone with this set up could advise me. Anyone with a super dragger? Whats the spec?

I drained the autobox fliud and filled 8.7litres of Dextron III through the dipstick pipe and after a little run smoke is pouring out from the underside. Have I overfilled or not tighten the screws to the oil pan enough? It's dark now and I need the car for tomorrow. I'm not sure whether to tighten up the screws tighter or drain out some oil. Any advice would be appreciated. Thanks in advance. Van

Just a question that i need answering. Im gettin some things put in the front wings of my zed. The problem is that at the top part of the wing (the insides) there is a little box of some sort. I think stu mentioned it had something to do with the cats. Can i remove these and get rid of them as im having a cat by pass done anyway. Need to find out as my bodyshop cant carry on with the wings until we find out what they do and if we can take them out. Fas

When I had mt MR2 I always changed the oil (Castrol Magnatec) every 3000 miles. Since getting my ZX (n/a) I changed the oil last time with Magnatec. Now, 3000 miles later, today I switched to Mobil 1 15 - 50. How often should I change the oil now ? Should I still change it every 3000, or can I let it go to about 4500 ? Thanks John
