I reverse my Nissan 200SX into my garage. There is a washing machine in the back left corner and the rear of my S13 fits between that and the opposite wall with about 2 inches to spare on each side.

 

If I go and get myself a 300ZX, is the rear end of a comparable size? Or is it far bigger? ie: If I took a measurement of the cars across say one and a half feet from the end, how would they compare?

 

I know length wise they are the same, so no problem there.

I think you're buggered... a recovery guy said mine was the widest car he'd ever had on the truck.

 

The rear track is about 6cm more than a 200 but then there's wider tyres on it as well, and the arches are flared a bit, so the difference could be more than that!

Well, the overwidth of my car is listed as 66.5 inches. The Z is listed as 70.9.

 

So the Z is 4.5 inches wider, but the question is what that actually means in the last (rear) foot of the car? I suspect though I'm stuffed...

 

We're planning an extension to the house probably this year and in it will be a utility room, so the washing machine will move, and then the Z will fit :D

I had a Mk3 Supra before the Zed and that was a wide car by normal standards.

 

The zed is way wider than that, with mirrors you are looking at nearly 78 inches wide at least. My zed still fits in my garage, just. There was much more room either side when the Supra was parked in there.

 

I think the Zed is a pretty even width all along the car, though the rear wheels do stick out owing to the wide track (and mine are 9.5 inches wide).

Yeh, that's the other solution... Build a ery strong metal supported shelf to put the washing machine on...

Just make sure that you anchor the washing machine down so it doesn't jump off said shelf onto the bonet of the zed when the spin cycle starts :)
