At last, the Z's been on/off the road for the last 5 years, and only done probably 10k in all that time, and at last i've got enough spare money to keep it on the road this time.... so its just passed the MOT (with the obligatory warning about head-lights, why is it every car i ever MOT has to have some hickup with headlights....) anyway, at long last... Sunny days the panels out, ahh nothing like it, having a hoot round country lanes, mmmmm.... now of course the problem is when you get the Z back on the road you start to notice all the little jobs you forgot about, and erm my list is growing: -Intermitent windows, which i think is dry joints. -Slight blowing noi…

I moved to Canada from the UK two years ago now but I’ve only just got round to shipping the Z over. I had the car shipped to Halifax on the East coast of Canada, about 3300Km from my new home in Winnipeg. The car has always been maintained to the highest standard and it’s never let me down yet so I wasn’t too concerned about reliability. I organized a few spares just incase with a decent tool selection. My journey basically started in Halifax, Nova Scotia. The route I decided to take wasn’t the shortest but probably the best roads and scenery. I followed the Trans Canada highway through Nova Scotia and New Brunswick. Into Quebec past Quebec City and Montreal. …

My alloys are in need of a clean up and wanted to know whats the best way to polish them up as the suns out and they look shocking. The thread on the polished exhaust got me started so whats the best to use and it might need to be slighlty abrasive as they are a little mucky and misted if that makes sense so wanted to know what you guys use and have found to be the best. Does anyone have a pic of a zed without the boot on? Ive spent ages with the lid up mucking about in the boot and its lines from the rear window have got me thinking about seeing what it would look like without a boot lid on at all. Thought about the strosek rear but the tiny window i think w…

:headvswal Can anyone tell me where I can buy the exhaust gasket which fits between the rear box and the rest of the system? Found plenty of places that will sell me the exhaust itself, but not the gaskets. Thanks all.

Evening all I doubt I'll be able to sell my car in its current condition and can afford to repair it. Needs new front bumper Head gasket VVT spring Needs alternator Leaking from power steering pipe Leaking from rear cam seal. The leaks are more of an annoying drip. Rusty sills and i spot of rust on each targa Thing is, the gear box is still strong as it has just been reconditioned and the engine is great apart from the fact the HG has gone. No smoke or water in the oil, just combustion gasses in the coolant, which forces coolant out after a long drive. Up until the alt went I drove it every day and the only thing I needed to do was keep an eye on t…

Hi Guys looking to buy a 300TT, looked at a 1994 import this morning L73 OEO, looks and drives good checked all the usual stuff no smoke quiet engine good boost and oil pressure ok, brakes and stearing good, interior very good and done only 60k. Bit concerned as I spotted it on ebay it has been painted at least on the rear aches and these are now just starting to bubble in one or two places. Presume this is fairly standard on a car this age, what else should i be checking out. Looking to spend between 3 - 4 k on a very standard spec car.

Hi Are there any other SWB Slicktop owners who have brought aftermarket gauges. I would be interested to see where you have mounted them. Am very disappointed having just purchased the 3 A pillar pod from SWZ, only to find out it does not fit the SWB Slicktop. Pretty annoyed that this is not mentioned on the SWZ site, nor on the ZCentre site which also sell it. Would ideally like to have it mounted in the A pillar pod, so does anyone else know of a place that sell a 3 pillar pod that will fit? Looks like I may have to go for the mounting in the spare DIN slot, which is not ideal as many have mentioned on this forum, as you have to look down to see t…

Guys, swapped our my duff autobox a few weeks ago.. Swaped for another Auto-box and Torque Converter from a low mileage 90' model However the car does not accelerate anywhere near as hard as it used to.. previously .. I just needed to tap the accelerator and wow..!! Re-checked the fluid level a few days ago and a top-up did make the box change gear better now seems more like the normal gear changing (before top up this was over 1-2 seconds from selecting D to feeling anything at the wheels) Once the car gets going the power is there but not on launch.. (can't even spin the wheels... if you can beleive this!!) Any Ideas.. (oh also brand new st…

First off would like to say many thanks to Andy for taking time out of his saturday to have a look at my car. He identified that one of my o2 sensors was faulty so thats gonna be replaced. We are both stumped on this one though and Andy thinks that one of my turbos could be seized. I know that the boost gauge isnt accurate but at idle i have a reading of -7, upon acceleration, the boost only goes to 0 and will not go positive. Has anyone else had any similar problems like this as i would like to try ruling everything else out before i go replacing the turbos. ConZult didnt show anything with no error codes on the ecu so looks like Andy could be right with the kna…

My car has been garaged all winter, & recently had a manual conversion. I get a slight vibration between say 35ish & 50 mph, it has seemed to improve. But on hard acceleration there is a strange sound ( its not det btw) its almost like a cow that starts to moo....... lol hope that makes sence & please no sarcastic replys. Also not the cabin driveshaft/gearbox getting quite hot. The only thing i can think is a dry joint in the bearings ??????? Any sensible advise welcomed

Ignition barrel on my 89 t/t auto was replaced with one from a 90 n/a. by-passed the two wire switch that fits in the side of the barrel and lets you get it out of park, but no ignition lights ?? Car still starts and runs ok, selects gear etc but no ignition lights. Also, dont know if this is relevant, but the micro switch that lets you release the key is connected, but not fitted, just dangling loose just now as it kept jamming the key and wouldnt allow me to press the release button ?? Checked all the fuses in the drivers footwell, and the 2 fuse boxes under the bonnet, all ok. Almost 100% certain the ignition lights on the n/a car it came from had ignition …
