Hi folks, i just failed an MOT & need to get a new exhaust (cat back). I'll be honest I'm not suprised, I knew it was on it's way out but wanted advice on what you think is best or what's commonly used & approved. I'm not exactly loaded but I guess it costs what it costs & I know they're not cheap. I've got no mods to my car other than an apexi intake & to be honest I don't see much happening in the near future but the next step would likely be a chip & remap. It's a 91 Z32 Jap TT LWB Basically what I want to know is which exhaust should I got for, the few I've spotted for not much cash are 1. Japspeed http://www.templetuning.co.uk/ja…

Can worn tension rod bushes cause intermittent steering shake under heavy-ish braking. Last night when I was thrashing my car around, the brakes were taking some stick & I was getting some real apparent steering shake when braking. The pedal was NOT pulsing. Tonight, lots of sensible driving, not a hint of shake even when braking hard. Strange. Warped discs - can't be cos the pedal would pulse and it would shake all the time? My bushes look OK and are currently OEM ones. Any thoughts guys? Cheers....

It's been running great for months on end, today it won't start, except after prolonged cranking, 30 - 40 seconds then it will splutter into life. Sparking is fine. Plenty of fuel through return line. When it does fire up it's lumpy on tick-over but seems to run o.k. normal driving. Plug was dry and a nice coffee colour when removed to check spark. Any suggestions, please.

the pipe from the wastegate actuator, originally goes to the intercooler pipe. one side i have this, but on the other side, it looks like ive got the pipe going back to the intake plenum? on the balance bar? is this correct? or does it HAVE to go to the intercooler??

Hi all can anyone help me? Im going to be dummy fitting the engine tonight to see how much clearence i have in fitting the actuators and pipe work! What is the best way to lift the engine using the engine hoist without damaging the engine? I can only see one engine hook at the rear of the engine should there be more?? Also could i lift the engine from the heads?? P,s i also have a engine leveller is it wise to use that? Thanks Dan

Right, desperately trying to re-fit the disabled cruise control. The CC was disabled by the previous owner who had fitted an after market steering wheel. Now, the control box and the wiring to that is there, the on/off switch is there. I have cruise control button pad which I am going to mount somewhere, but I can't for the life of me work out where the wiring for this to plug into should be? I've had a good rummage around under the column and there's only wiring going to 3 connectors, one for the ignition, one for the indicator stalk and another for the HICAS sensor. Does this connector for the HICAS sensor incorporate the wiring for the CC? Because I can't rea…

Ok, I'm not scared of spanner work, god knows I've done enough to the Volvo over the last 6 months, but I look under the zeds bonnet, and I see spaghetti-pipes-and-wires, and to be fair, I've chickened out of doing the PCV's on my own. :headvswal Have any of you cov lads done the pcvs yourself? would you be willing to come round mine, and help me do em? I've got a huge garage, so weather is not an issue, I've got a crap load of tools, and my fridge is always well stocked with stella, but other flavours of beer will be bought, if needed.... :duffer: I'd really appreciate it, and my garage would be available to the wonderful helpful person, for any…

I've done searches for the exact location of the injectors but cannot find a diagram. Am I right in thinking they are very close to the throttle plate cover, set down with two wires running to each? If so, someone has crimped rubbish terminals to the front four which are quite loose and the revs alter if they are moved! I've re-crimped the ones that seemed worst, will have to wait for the engine to cool a bit before the others. I think new connectors might be in order.

Sounds like a cam follower to me, it's a slow tapping sound which increases with the revs. Any ideas or is this quite common?

I am not sure that this is the best place for this especially as it is not strictly Zed related, but it will be of interest to Zed owners who have little or no knowledge of car mechanicals and workings. This site really explains very simply about engines and tuning, it explains what can be done and what cannot be done, the latter could save you a lot of money. See what you think, the guy is obviously very knowledgeable. Apologies if this has been posted before. http://www.tuning.wanadoo.co.uk/index.htm
