This might sound like a silly question, but if you found drops of oil in the catch pan you put under the car, is there anyway of telling / testing whether it´s engine oil or gearbox oil before getting under the car and investigating the source ? Cheers Maz

Ok I've searched the threads and have found a few different opinions but has anyone got the definitive answer on this. I have a set of clocks that read up to 180 and it is listed in MPH only (no KMH readings at all) They seem to be reading in KMH ie. when doing 70 MPH they read 112 on the clocks. I think I need a converter. Is this correct? if so where is the best place to get one and how are they fitted. Cheers

The boot release aint working properly. To get it to open you have to keep the lever pulled up while at the same time lifting the boot lid (easy if you have a passenger or 12 foot arms) I'm thinking it's either the catch or the struts. Anyone had a similar problem

My Speedo is displaying MPH but seems to be reading KMH. Could this be down to some sort of sender relay The fuel cap is not opening from the lever......Now sorted And the boot release is working but the lever has to be held up at the same time as lifting the boot And lastly I need the following repaired. Anyone know if it's much of a job. And the cigarette lighter is not working (Bummer for the sat nav) Scratch that one now fixed Cheers

I am having trouble getting the CAS in the right place. When I took out the cas, the little location stub which is uses to make sure the CAS is in the correct position has snapped off. Its not the cog shape on the cam which has snaped just the little locating stub. This has made getting the CAS position very hard to get right. Are there any tips on how to get it in the correct location. I tried putting the engine in top dead centre and then turning the cas until cylinder 1 fires the engine has a strange firing order when starting up so is very hard to do. Any one got suggestions on how I could get this right? Stuart

Told myself I was gonna fix this over 5 1/2 years ago but never got round to it and .......... still not done it. :wack: saw on another thread recently that the fault is most probally the white timer unit that is on the same bracket as the fuel pump relay near the fast pedal, I replaced this last night and still the same, stops in middle of screen in random places, anyone any idea's :D

I have sourced one of these on the internet suitable for a 300ZX. How exactly does it work? What advantages does it have? And also is it likely to damage anything? Thanks, Dan

Have an annoying rattle that sounds like it is coming from the rear diff area. Happens below 2000RPM (usually in 2nd or 3rd when the engine is working hard) and sounds like the exhaust is hitting a heat shield and then fades away as I accelerate. I have new oil in both G-boxes, new Nismo G-Box mount, single piece drive shaft. Noise was there before I made these changes as well. Tonight I have removed the centre heat shield and starter heat shield to eliminate those and the rattle is the same. Noticed that the drive shaft can rotate about 10-15 degrees without the wheels moving. Is this movement normal? Help greatly appreciated!:D

Sloppy and imprecise steering is just horrible, there are many factors that need to be looked if your zeds not going well in the pointing department, tyres , tyre pressures, tension road bushes, steering arms, steering knuckles, etc. etc. But oddly one area that often gets overlooked is the steering rack bushes, these two rather large rubber sleeves keep the steering rack in position laterally. Check out the photo's below see the state of the two bushes in particular the right hand one which was completely useless, in the next photo you can see the amount of insecure movement of the rack due to the worn bush, basically when turning at a junction the rack was…

Hi all, Is the little metal disc with the key-hole a part of the door lock barrel or door handle? My driver's side one is devoid of the little "flap" that closes the key-slot and, being a perfectionist, I want to replace it. Do I need a new lock or a new door handle? Thanks Richard:cool:

Rotten battery tray replacement part one Ok removal of the tray is quite simple, a couple of 12mm bolts and a few spot welds secure it in place, however this tray was in such bad condition it needed to be removed in bits, the air grinder helped but it could be done by hand with a combination of metal shears and and small saw. Once the tray is fully removed the lower inner wing section is revealed, even this needs some work. The inner wing section is shown cleaned down with a wire brush in the air drill, however a hand wire brush would do it to Here is what was left of the old tray.

My car is still idling at 2000~2500 rpm's according to the rev counter - I have no real reason to doubt that it is reasonably accurate, the revs sound high too. Adjusting the TPS makes no difference at all, it fluctuates for a sec but then resumes the same rpm. The TPS no longer has the weatherproof connector, but someone has crimped connectors onto the wires which then plug into the sensor. Do these often go faulty? The A/C switch is off, and it just adds an even higher rpm! Any thoughts? I've read there is a more crude method of adjustment somewhere...this has possibly been set by a previous owner for some reason and may be worth looking at if I know where.
