Started a bit late today but between me, my dad and my bro we managed to get the engine in in less than 30 minutes but the mounting bracket for the gearbox was what caused all the problems, 5 mm off on one side so had to lengthen all the slot to accomodate and went through f*** knows how many grinding stones to get there  On to the interior next, just need to lengthen the throw of the gear lever and grind out a bit more of the floor to accomodate the throw of the lever but it's in finally after 7 months and jesus does it sit low in the body, the weight it right in line with the centre of the wheels so should handle brilliantly which is what i wanted :D Mor…

Well it's going to have the welding done on Tuesday, found a local Japanese car specialist round the corner from me that I never even knew existed until a mate told me about them. Not only does the owner drive a 300, he specialises in them so that's nice to know, it's only a 20 min WALK from my house to. Any way today some bits turned up, just some clear indicators and silver bulbs, so I fitted them and heated up the front units to pry the lens off and remove the orange inner lens (180deg for about 5 mins is enough) Had to splice and solder some wires, took about an hour all in I guess but I think it worth it. I'll get around to re doing the rears at some point I'd …

Hi ive got a Silver Twin Turbo Jap Import on a G reg, its Auto and its done 56000 miles. Its in good condition with cloth trim. Can someone advise me on how much to sell it for? I really want a quick sale but at the same time i don't want to give it away. Any ideas? I've looked on Auto Trader but the prices are all over the place. Thanks Sarah

I can't be the only owner of a Z in these parts; which is good to know. Spotted an awesome looking 300zx (silver), was parked up at St Margrets bay which is between Dover and Deal. Anyone? It even had a 300zx.co.uk logo on the window. 4.30pm 16th..

hi all, another prob iv been having recently is my battery is going flat daily!! i have jump started her twice, then as that failed i gave the battery a full charge for 20hrs, still it went flat within a day. the car has a clifford alarm and im guessing this is draining it, but even saying that, the last four days i have left the car unlocked and with the alarm off to see if the battery will still hold charge, yet again, come the morning its flat again :( how can i check my alternator is working, or how can i check the battery is still good or not???? thanks, dan

hi all, iv had a nightmare weekend with the car and need some help as im a complete newb with 300's! basically took the car for an mot, as the car got to the mot station the temperature was right up and i had no heating, then steam started pouring out from the engine bay, and what a surprise, the readiator was completely empty :( i waited for engine to cool down for an hr or so then filled radiator up with 2ltrs of water, the water came straight back out within seconds :( it seems the water is coming out really quickly from the front of the engine towards the top, where there is 2 metal pipes around 2" coming out and bending to the left towards drivers side…

I'm trying to sort out the c/l on the passenger side, which hasn't worked since I've owned the car. The obvious to start with was whether the solenoid is getting a pulse/voltage supply - it isn't. I've got as far as eliminating the wiring between the car and the door as there's no pulse on the inside connectors either! Am I right in thinking the only fuses are under the bonnet? I'm struggling where to look next and am tempted to run a wire across from the drivers door!

Hi all, First post! I'm looking at buying a zed, I've found one that looks mint with one exception, as described below in the ad: Turbo's are smoking The smoke is blue and after removing the intercoolers and finding oil within them we concluded that the turbo seals have gone. The car still drives fine and boosts / holds boost although it gives off a lot of smoke and I would not suggest travelling a long distance in it as it will probably attract the wrong sort of attention. How much cash am I looking at to have it fully checked out and rectified? Is this a cheap fix if the seals are indeed busted, or is it gonig to break the bank? Car looks a s…

Good Afternoon Folks, I havent long had my car back from being repaired where I had a water bypass done. Now that is all nice and water tight at the back it appears (from what I can see) that one of the seals on the front water pipes has sprung a leak. Is this an easy fix / common problem? there appears to be a fair bit of coolant over the top of the engine etc. I have had the car for three years now and it has always seemed to leak something from somewhere! Cheers as always, Dave.

Well i had my air filter and t pipe off yesterday as i was clenaing out the intakes, i turned on the car so i could suck up some of the intake cleaner and noticed that the nearside bank sucks in more air on idle? would it have something to do with the idle valve being on the nearside drawing in air if so then that should be normal right? surely once the filter is back on it should help balance it out a bit more? Anyway i adjusted the throttle bodies and balanced them as best i could but it does still suck more on that side, I dont have any air leaks which im like 99% sure off. any input on this?

My circumstances seem to change as often as my pants (at least twice a year) and I now find myself ready to buy another 300zx :hyper::hyper: Ideally I would be looking at S2 or later manual TT with minor tastefull upgrades only for around £4kish depending on how much I get for my current car. My only problem is I was picked up by a mate recently in his '99 XK8 shaped convertable which had the XKR supercharger package on it. It was a mind numbingly beautiful car with 300zx matching pace and handled well considering it was an auto. My mate is convinced for a little more (around £4750) I could get one. I love the 300zx dearly and have had 5 now (although …

Finally got round to dragging the engine out of the red zed today to get the drivers side turbo replaced. Came out easy enough but don't see how you lot can do it in an hour or two  Turbo was well and truly seized, wasn't oil starvation and certainly wasnt bearing collapse. What usually causes them to fail? Check out the Technicolour Dream Rope © Its back in and mounts are in place, gonna spend the evenings over the next week plugging it all in and getting it ready for action next weekend. Then the real fun begins, I'll have a Z1 lightweight flywheel, exedy paddle clutch, uprated intercoolers and new exhaust system to fit :hyp…

Apologies if this has been threaded before, but I thought it would be an interesting discussion. Below are my Top 10 most beautiful cars: Jaguar XJ220 Ferrari F40 Nissan 300ZX (Z32) Mercedes SLR McLaren Ferrari 348 Ferrari Testarossa Mercedes SL (2003-2008. Sadly the latest design is ugly at the front.) Aston Martin DB9 Mercedes CLS Mercedes S Class (1999-2006)

Not as in Picasso lol... but Advanced Race Technology? They are an american company who seem to specialise in the Z32 amongst other cars. If so do you know what the quality of their products is like? Reason being is I have some ART uprated side mount intercoolers on the way :nana2: With them being specialists you would expect them to be a reasonable quality and perform well... we shall soon see ;)

....In the hope that it may help someone else - here are a couple of pics of how I managed to extract the injectors from the rail. I tried pulling and levering and was basically going to mangle the connector. This is obviously dead easy with the rail out so.... ... I simply used a couple of 30mm M6 bolts, a 10mm socket and a big vice as below. I am not an engineer or a mechanic, so correct me if you are - but it worked great and I had all 6 out completely undamaged in about 10 mins.
