  1. Some people have spoken about fitting the 6 speed box from a 350Z but a friend who has a 350Z is on his 3rd box, they are apparently a weak part on a 350 and would surely be even more susceptible to failure on a twin turbo.
  2. I know this may sound silly, but is the wheel seated down on the spigot properly. I would be tempted to take the wheel off again and refit.
  3. Its me looking for a job as a Zed tester.
  4. The exhaust should not affect the performance at all except of course if the Cats are knackered. yours is decatted so not a problem. As above check the coil packs and the plugs especially if they have been in a long time. Also check the connectors / lead between the PTU and the CAS.
  5. It is a pretty straightforward job but you must make sure you have assembled all the necessaary parts., i.e clutch pedal (and bolts) , master cylinder, slave cylinder, gearbox, clutch assembly, flywheel, flywheel bolts, clutch bolts, spigot bush (fits in the crankshaft), gearstick and gaitors (2), gaitor (upper) fixing plate and 4 screws, propshaft. When mine was done we cut the brake pedal to suit a manual pedal rubber and you do not need a new loom. It is quite easy to sort your reverse lights out after the conversion is done. We started mine at 9.30 am and I was driving it home at 4.30pm albeit without reversing lights and no servo on the clutch pedal which on reflection is no different than what a RPS clutch feels like on a normal manual car. I have had both.
  6. Yes it is the same as a knock sensor. It senses detonation and adjust the ignition to suit rectify. If the problem is still happening I would would look at the condition of the female connector. It sounds as though some corrosion may have appeared and the resistor is not making a good contact. I ran a resistor for years without any problems.
  7. I will be back from Majorca by then so could attend, although might not be in the Zed tho'.
  8. Not true. If you buy from an auction (and that includes Ebay) without inspecting / trying the car beforehand then you have no legal rights at all if something goes wrong, even if the seller is a trader / garage. That is the reason why people send items to auction, if and when it sells, providing it was not misrepresented, then you are legally bound to pay for it and any rights under the Sale of Goods Act do not apply.
  9. Something else to bear in mind is that the normal spare wheel (space saver) will no longer fit the front wheels after a big brake upgrade, so buy an extra front rim when getting your new set.
  10. It is straight forward Pete. Down to the end of the M5 and then on to the A38 for about 4 miles, apparently the racecourse is then well signposted.
  11. Perhaps we should change our meet up time to 7 o'clock then. I thought we were due to be at the Racecourse for 8.
  12. I thought that there was an earlier thread on this question and that someone posted up a listing, I may be wrong but I think it may have been Jeff of Zedworld. Would it have been deleted due to his ban.
  13. What time chaps 6.30 ish..................
  14. Thanks Lisa, what time do we need to be at the show to get on the stand with the car.
  15. Is this happening Lisa, if so how much and how to pay.
  16. I think the most important bit is the anti-drain valve. The couple of seconds or so it takes to re-pressurise your system can have catastrophic effects on a well used engine after all its the oil that sits between the big ends /main bearings and your crank. We all know what happens when these surfaces touch..........they wear. So, always get a filter with the non-return valve, I would not worry about filtration quality as you can change it more often.
  17. It was supplied and fitted by Owen Developements of Oxford. Not recommended as when I was suffering the problems dispite serveral emails, and telephone calls which resulted in a answer phone message, no one ever responded. Are they still in business.?
  18. I think you need to be aware that the oil feed pipe requirements are different between turbos. I am not familiar with the type you have but those fitted with with bush type bearings as opposed to roller/ball type bearings require different oil supply needs. Apparently ball/roller bearing turbos require less oil supplied and will smoke if too much is provided. Speak to your turbo supplier about the requirement.
  19. I have (had) one fitted on my Zed but had to un piggyback it. Because the battery was disconnected for a couple of weeks whilst the engine was reconned, it seemed to have lost all it map settings and was overfueling terribly when initially started. Of course I could not remove it as part of it is hard wired, and I had to install a MAF unit before the car would run afterwards, but prior the performance was fantastic and they apparently can be just uprated to suit further mods easily.
  20. You call that busy, blimey Murt I think you need to get out more.
  21. They do Si, just the same if you owe them money they will charge you interest for the period it has been outstanding,
  22. On PistonHeads there are currently 73 Zeds for sale, and the Autotrader just 67 and of course that is Nationally and there must be duplicate adverts between the two mediums. If you present your car well and I mean properly prepared and running right, you should find a buyer quite quickly in your area. They do look awesome and I reckon the question of auto or manual does not apply to a first time buyer as they just like the look and feel of the car. Good luck mate.
  23. I can disagree with that Dan. They have had my failed turbo (450 miles) back with them now for 6 weeks, and they still cannot tell how or why it failed. Shawn Holleman their stores guy stated that he was not prepared to call interstate to find out from the turbo company. During this whole problem of my turbo failure they only contacted either Jimmer or myself once, and that was to request the return of the old unit. They certainly get their priorities right don't they. Well, I have just logged on to 300ZX.com, and we will now see what fellow Americans think about Z1motorsport service.
  24. I have super advans and I cannot say that I like them either, but wheels are the bottom of my shopping list and they do clear my big brake kit without spacers.
  25. Do they need vacuum to operate and has the pipe flattened, perished or just got detached.
