  1. Yeah, right. You can buy Tesco 10/50w oil and you can buy Redline 10/50w oil. Which would you chose ?
  2. Looks pants with washer under hinge, do a Jimmer and try and lift the door, I have done this in the past also.
  3. Using a long ring spanner or socket bar which is placed on the pulley nut at 4 o'clock resting against something solid, i.e. the floor or a block of wood, ensuring PTU / CAS is disconnected, turn the ignition key and engage the starter, it will simply unscrew the bolt.
  4. Absolutely right gentlemen, he is not happy at all even though he had them checked before installation. his fuel consumption is atrocious but the worst aspect is the constant smell of petrol dispite replacing all the seals and O rings twice. I have just bought a set of 555's and he recommended that I bought Nismo injectors, (now awaiting Jimmers expertise) which I recently purchased from Z1Motorsports. They have a good selection on their website.
  5. You came out of the road that comes across from Weare and flashed your lights.
  6. Compression test ! that will tell you if you have ring / piston damage.
  7. If the dipstick is blowing out, it aint PCV's. been through this with other Zeds and it usually down to rings / piston damage. Bite the bullet and get it done, you will probaly fall in love with it again and keep it. It's probably this that is giving you the current running problems.
  8. A doctors appointment then Marcus.
  9. I think that there is going to be some cheap motors about soon the way fuel is rising, not just Zeds but 4x4's, Jags and the like, especially if they keep escalating the the cost of Road Tax to rediculous levels. Make sure you remember whats happening and get these b@stard politicians onto the dole queue at the next general election.
  10. No mate he won't, he left his glasses at Castle Combe.
  11. No, his missus just wanted him outa the house for an hour or so.
  12. He aint missing us by the sound of it, 3 kids and counting. Its beats driving about in a a Zed.
  13. This is where we miss a forum garage, someone with longstanding experience of Zeds, not just engines but the whole vehicle, experienced gained from professional involvement over many years. As a club of many years standing, it seems strange that we no longer have that experience to hand. What has caused this decline in technical support in recent years ?
  14. My query is, who replaced the tubs and the PCV valves for you without testing the basic engine condition. Sounds like you have been had over by someone unfamiliar with Zeds. You need to get the engine surveyed mechanically to assess its condition. I am sure someone like Zedworld would do that before recommending an engine change.
  15. He is only a registered user now Si.
  16. That's a real bummer then mate, it would have been nice if it had been hot.
  17. Congrats Dave, you are the oldest, unless someone knows better ?
  18. I hope everyone else on the track has a bit of sense, and don't just fly round as usual. If it is too wet, I will not be tracking it.
  19. The important word in that statement Si is GF. Yer right 7.30 is a bit early especially if GF is staying the night.;)
  20. Good man, it is quite a good event and the weather forecast is looking good.
  21. To get the sump off you will have to drop the front crossmember with the steering ravk attached. All the belts will require removing from the front of the engine, that's cam, alternator and AC belts. The bottom cam sprocket has to be removed which is a ba@@ard and then a couple of bolts and the pump slides off the front of the crankshaft.
  22. It has changed, but for the better. Zedworld are on 01827 259222.
  23. I would be tempted to do a compression check just to rule out piston / ring damage. When its hot and running, if you removed the oil filler cap, is there any pressure / smoke coming out from the engine oil filler hole.
