  1. If the fence is on the boundary line between the properties, there will be very little that you can. You obviously removed the original fence to construct the new one so it becomes just a boundary fence. Unfortunately people like this have no respect for the property of others. i suspect they might put the motorbike in there, or perhaps a stolen one ready to dismantle and sell the bits. Why don't you wait till a good cloudy night, using a pair of steps, lean over and smash it down, slash the tarpaulin, make it no longer waterproof. perhaps they will then build it on the fence the other side. The other thing to do, is if you know someone with good computer skills, send them a spoof letter from the council telling them to remove it, or they will be evicted.

I think the idea of draining fluids started way back when cars and fluids were very basic. oil was just a refined variation of crude without any additives, and was certainly not very 'viscous' and of course use to thicken with age, a bit like an old chip pan, so people drained when laying cars up. The same goes with water, originally it was just water, and when antifreeze was first introduced, it did not contain any corrosion prevention additives, so people drained it. Today, with technology and science, these fluids are manufactured to cope with all conditions, climates and environments. Leave 'em in.
  3. The Ebay car being an import, its speedo is probably in Kilometers, which is about 75,000 miles, which is not a problem normally with the turbos, but the gearbox is something else. My car a 94 TT import had gearbox problems at 40,000 miles, and when removed, it was not the original. Firstly, I would recommend a manual, definitely an import because of less corrosion, most important of all, if you no absolutely FA about them, find or pay someone who does to look for you. If not buy from a dealer and buy a warranty. They are too technically complicated for you local garage to repair, and besides, usually when you lift the bonnet, 99% of garage mechanics start shaking their heads. Be warned. Be wary.
  4. If it is an automatic, it will definitely need to be run regularly and preferably moved backwards and forwards, otherwise the drive plate material in the gearbox dries out and when later used in anger, drops off, leaving you without any drive. Expensive !!!

  6. Paul - I bought some of these bulbs last year and are a waste of time. They both blew within 2 weeks. The glass was bubbled to hell. It looked like they had melted. This seller 'Dellogs' sells from Japan and Australia....total crap.
  7. When you say an angle, make sure it is nose up, i.e.radiator higher than the heater matrix. There is a bleed point on the left side of the radiator. (should be - mines a Jap import)

    Come on guys, get positive, I'm 86 and I will be turning up, especially now the Zed is being chipped. It will be much more exciting to drive this time of the year. Dig them fleeces out and smiley faces, and say hello.
  11. I bought a set of Bosch blades with deflectors off Ebay, £12 the pair. They are superb and the guy is still knocking them out at this price.

    When you say oil leak, do you mean 'using oil' or 'loosing oil', the latter being quite obvious. If the oil is disaapearing from your engine with no visible signs of a leak, then its being burnt, and blown out the back. Any smoke, lots of it I should think if it is causing you concern. Have you checked around the dipstick, as backpressure can blow oil out here. That could be you PCV valves.
  14. Insurance is a contract to cover for the big f***k up. You break the terms of the contract by bending the truth and you have wasted your money. You may be able to tax the car and fool the old bill, but at the end of the day, you want the car repaired or some money back to buy another. The insurance companies are real cute these days, they have had so much crap thrown at them in the past, they now know what to expect. Be straight, be insured
  15. Me and my son converted my 93 TT, started at 10am and was driving it by 5pm. The only bit we could not be bothered with was the wiring for the reversing lights, otherwise just great. My auto box was messing about and I did not feel happy to continue to give it stick. Bought all the parts for £600 which is a lot cheaper than having the box sorted. Auto is nice tho'........

  17. Did you check the oil with the engine running ? or off. I know the book says to start engine, get hot and put into gear with footbrake on, run for a couple of minutes, switch off and check the oil. Its better to leave the engine running if possible and check the oil, as it will drain from the torque converter as soon as it is switch off and show a high level reading. (There is a pump lobe on the main gearbox shaft which keeps the torque converter pressurised with oil) If the box is gone, convert to a manual, its cheaper, better, and puts pounds on the value of the car.
  18. I have been told that these modules are not very reliable and tend to fail after about 6 months. They can also be faulty from new which was the case when my son purchased one, he had his dash out about 6 times before finally realising that the fault was the component......beware.
  19. Surely if you continually chimp on about your business activities in this forum, you are advertising........totting for work. It is then surely classed as a business activity and should pay for that privilage.???
  20. I am a dad, and a grandad 6 times over, and I have just bought a Zed after driving my son James's TT manual. I have got a 93 TT import which was automatic, and we converted it to manual 2 weeks ago, bloody fantastic. It's the best fun Ive had for the money I paid...........Its at Zedworld currently and I can't wait to get it back. My kids thinks it marvelous that I bought one.Live life and stay young.....Old Zed
  21. When doing this conversion, they do not normally bother with the servo assistance on the clutch as the unassisted pedal is apparently OK. It also saves a lot of work.
  22. When removing the propshaft, you should always mark both flanges to ensure it is fitted back on in the same position, because it is balanced. If you did not mark it, do so now, and then undo rear bolts and rotate the propshaft one set of holes at a time, roadtesting at each position, to see if the vibration has stopped. Check your universal joints first for any play.
  23. Hi, I'm new in and am just about to convert an auto TT to a manual. As the clutch will not be assisted, are they still fairly light, also, does anyone know the wiring mods in respect of the auto loom to suit a manual box.
