Seized Z on Flee bay ?
Low octane petrol would not cause it to sieze. It sounds like it had a water leak and overheated, or perhaps the fan (viscous coupled) was not working. Ive used tank fulls of ordinary unleaded, steamed the ass of it without any probs.

What colour interior trims ?
What colour is the upholstery, if its black I would go fo silver although red would match the door edges. I also presume the dash is black.

Oldest ZEDDER (THE POLL)
Its gotta be me......surely no one else at my age would buy a twin turbo supposed babe magnet, petrol munching, wallet stripping, low slung and no room for the zimmer frame or commode, although I have the latter built in the drivers seat as I keep scaring myself sh****ss with it. You can all send me a card on my 63rd birthday in April. Long live the Zed.

best car audio
I bought a Sony CD/MP3 player off fleabay for £74 and it is really great. The MP3 bit means that you can have one disk full of your best listening. I have a disk with 28 different full CD's on it, thats about 300 numbers to listen to, and its Sony. of course your speakers will come into play as well as the standard ones are shite.

How do you know when (turbo question)
M8, it sounds like you have got some serious issues, get it to a proffesional.......get it sorted once and for all. You will enjoy it fully then. Whe they are on top form they are fantastic, when they are playing up they are b******s. You can spen a fooooooking fortune. Short cut is proper diagnosis, no guessing...

Who here has had a Manual conversion???
Oh, by the way, 1st, 2nd and 3rd are awsome..........

Who here has had a Manual conversion???
Mine is still pulling hard at 148mph but the road and my balls give out. Have you done an ECU check to make all is working well. I know it will not show up boost leaks etc., but at least all the electronics should be tested. my car goes like f**k through the gears and I am looking forward to a track day in May. It sounds as tho' you may have other problems. Being up north, why not get jeff at Zedworld to have a look at it with the Conzult.

vvvrrrrroooooooommmmm pppppssssshhhhhh, vvvrrrrroooooooommmmm pppppssssshhhhhh
I got BOV's and it does sound nice, especially when you give it beans past the local when all the chavs are sat outside having a pint. Strangely, they recognise the sound of turbo dump valves, but not the sound of the job centre.

Who here has had a Manual conversion???
I drive mine to the limit of the prevailing conditions. Top speed so far is 148mph. I love pissing off Audi twin pipe TT's by pushing them until they move over. They think they are the best, as if. Whats your problem. It sounds as though things are not as they should be. My car is standard at the moment although I do have an ECU chipped by JWT ready to fit, but is currently suffering from a mild 'pinking' problem. Until that is cured, I am a bit concerned about fitting the upgraded ECU and boost jets.

Bad News!!!
Just take it on the chin Shar. You know you been pushing it for some time. I guess the eyes fluttering bit failed to work, I just can't understand it, must have been a policeman batting for the other side...........win some, lose some.

oooo, last night a mamber . . . .
Just as an extra check as I suffered from a really bad misfire / hessitation at about 3700rpm, check the connections to yours CAS unit, they do tend to get 'corroded' and make bad connections resulting in misfires and all sorts of rough running.

Who here has had a Manual conversion???
I have had a manual conversion, in fact I did it with my son in about 7 hours. Pretty straight forward actually, and the car is so much better for it. I say that because I bought the car and discovered the auto box was a bit woolly / vague or not very positive going up through the gears under heavy throttle. My car is a clone of yours, same colour and an 'L' reg, what are you after pal.

SW March Meet
Are we talking afternoon or evening here. Sat or Sunday ? A pub with a curry night would be great especially if we could do skittles or something........

Any Zed heads live in Aylesbury?...or nearby?
You will certainly need some help to move and lift it. They are a right ball breaker even for 2 beefy blokes, and that is when they are stripped of all accessories. You have been warned.......

cam belt
The nearest to you I think is Zedworld in Tamworth.

fuel pump
It is almost certainly to do with the crank angle sensor(CAS) situated on the righthand side of the engine and affixed to the end of the camshaft. This controls the injectors and the fuel pump. If you mark its position and then remove it, turn on the ignition, and then rotate the shaft of the sensor with your fingers (in the same rotation as engine would turn), you should hear the injectors click and the fuel pump run. It may just be the connector to the CAS unit. They do tend to be affected by damp so make sure it is clean and making good contact.

What Size Are They???
The size caps you require is 30mm. As a matter of interest B&Q sell rubber caps for walking stick ends, 2 per bag, £2.98p. fit a real treat. and when your my age, they could come in handy in an emergency.

Ignition power amplifier
Being a bit new with the terminology, I do not recognise the unit you are requiring, are you referring to the Power Transformer Unit. If so, I do have a spare one.

Zed crash in Tamworth !!!
I took a Jaguar out on test drive a fews years ago, and had only gone about 3 miles and it felt sluggish. When I looked at the clocks the water temperature was off the gauge. It had boiled and practically seized. The oil pressure was '0'. Something pretty serious was going down here. I parked up and walked back to the garage and told them what had happened, got in my car and left. Obviously needed a service....

Fishing
Carp fishing is the one....great sport and chance to get away from it all, and use the Zed to get there, although these days with all the gear, a van is more useful.
-
Engine/gearbox size
How do you plan to lift it. The engine on its own is a struggle for two fit blokes, the gearbox also weighs about 50-60kgs. Fork lift required.......

Rear drums
Clean them up and apply some high temperature paint, you can buy it to put on manifolds, only a limited colour range tho'.

300zx Engine Help
I think you need to establish what they mean by 'cant get the pistons to operate properly'. They are attached to the crankshaft and go up and down as the engine rotates. I think what they are hinting at is the timing. i.e. valves and pistons, as they would have had to take the belt off to remove the heads. They obviously do not know how to reset this up. Providing they have not tried to start it since then it should be OK, but if it has been turned on the starter, the valves may have hit the pistons and caused damage to both. Go back and get the complete story from them. get them to write it down in mechanics language so that you can then enquire accurately from another garage.

Compression test results....bad...need engine rebuild.
Oh, and I forgot to mention, Southwestzeds are the dogs b******s. They are enthusiasts and have been for a long time. They know what they are doing, believe me, I only trust my everyday car to the main agent, but they look after my Zed. Brilliant.
