  1. I reckon he was on his way to a football match and got pissed up b4 he left and forgot how to drive.
  2. Yes, I recognise that variant. I bought one off Ebay from Ebayer 'bigen9' otherwise known as (Norman Lowe - Dagenham United Kingdom), sadly it was crap. He did replace it, but after having the speedo out about six times, and fitting it many different ways without success, we went for a refund and he did not quibble. I think he must have had loads of faulty ones.
  3. The trouble is he has a Ferrari on his 'X' box which is fooooooking fast, it never breaks down, does not need insurance, tax or an Mot, but probably still leaves a Mars bar in his kacks.
  4. He is a numpty. He started on the motorway so even without power steering he could have pulled up straight. He has probably got one of them attention seeking deficite problems, i.e. wants to be noticed. Why coundn't he just put it in neutral or just kept the brakes on til it stopped.

It does stand out PK. You certainly must get noticed wherever you go. It is better then bling.
  6. Don't lose heart Birdy, when they are going well the feeling is fantastic. When they stop, ugh, its money time. Don't give up, take the motor out and strip it, have a look at the inside, see whats gone wrong, then make a decision about what to do. Replace the motor, or rebuild. Don't jump until you know what the options are.
  7. Your are absolutely right Legrath it was me, going home over Failand. A good place for a blast. The hair is white, mainly because of the car, JWT chip, Apexi induction, 1mm boost jets, a real flyer. 148mph highest recorded, abroad of course. Don't you just love 'em. Sex on wheels.....
  8. Hey Bird, if the engine is sweet and you do not require the car for day to day use, i.e. getting to work etc., you may as well take the engine out and take the heads off and look inside. If necessary mark the pistons and bigends and take the pistons out that are showing the lowest compressions. If it is just rings and the pistons are not damaged, whoopee. A new set of rings plus gaskets and you are back on the road. Better the devil you know than another pain in the wallet from an engine from a scrappy.
  9. Does the offered engine have a known history i.e., from someone who has driven the car it is out of and it performed properly. Beware of 'backstreet' breakers who just want to sell an engine. It aint a 10 minute job to swop 'em......
  10. Definitely a good investment. £120 off Ausi Ebay and brilliant, would not drive at night otherwise. Dead easy to fit, plug and play, but now need a set for the main beam which is also rubbish compared with the HID's. Yes, is does require the mod to maintain dipped beam when switching to main...........

You can put me down, it sounds like it will be a cracking day out.
  12. All this exitement about chromimg headlights and the better lighting for night driving, and costs of £200 and the trouble of taking your lights out as well, I think you should decide what you are after.....looks or brighter lights. Admittedly they really look superb chromed but I bought a set of HID's for £120 plus £25 postage from Australia, and they are absolutely incredible. Its like driving in daylight. I am considering buying a set for mainbeam as they look decidedly yellow. If your into the bling bit and fancy the work of taking your headlamps out, why not just buy some chrome paint at £7.95 and the HID's at £145 inc postage, and end up with the best of both worlds for less.

This sounds familiar. Check the connectors on the PTU and CAS unit, make sure they are clean and making good contact. If they are not, the ECU will not give out an error code, will send a signal to the fuel pump to pump, and will not send signal to the injectors, or permit a spark to be provided, but when doing an ECU check you get a code 55, which is all OK.
  14. Sounds like it might be the throttle speed sensor.
  15. You can use Superunleaded or Tesco 99 ron petrol without getting pre-ignition (detonation) or 'pinking' as it is commonly referred to, but if you want to use the standard unleaded, you would have to retard your ignition which would certainly affect performance.

Come on Si, if you wear that wooley hat you'll be OK. Put me down, it would be a great run and a chance to meet some local Zed members.
  17. Best consult an expert, ring Jeff at Zedworld...you don't want to mess about with electrics.

That sounds good, what part of the Welsh countryside or coast do you intend to grace with our presence and custom.
  19. The harness from the PTU mounted on the left front camshaft belt cover (looking with the bonnet open) goes across the front of the engine to the CAS unit on the right hand camshaft belt cover. There are connectors each end which probably require cleaning up to ensure a good connection is made with each component. In the middle of this loom, you will also see a unit screwed into the block with a connector on it, not integral with the above loom but seperate. This is the coolant temp sensor. Once again I would clean this connector up before considering replacing the sensor.
  20. go on the aus 300zx tech site.a guy on there tells you how to remove them with pictures.he covered his using large electrical heat shrink.this can be bought in long rolls.i think wurth sell it.the end result was very pleasing.doing mine the same way soon.
  21. the uk and jap pads are the same fitment.
  22. generally the longer a pad takes to warm up the harder the disc to pad wear ratio is.performance pads sacrifice your discs.ran my car for a while on ebc race pads.the pads took longer to warm up but the car stopped on a sixpence.discs were in tatters after.changed to a milder spec pad and sacrificed stopping power a bit but i know my discs wont be shot in 5000miles.
  23. when installing rings were you sure that you staggered rings at 120degree intervals and that the ring gaps arent on the thrust side of the piston.also it only takes one ring installed upside down and it will cause blow by.did you have engine bored or did you hone it yourself?
  24. You will also need an aerial adaptor as Jap is a queer 2 pin thingy...
  25. I do not think that you would get a 4 poster in 240V single phase, but you can a 2 poster.
