  1. I think Murt is busy organising a bar and barbicue ready for the throng of people. He is so thoughtful. Come on Murt, keep us informed, i.e., what time is the first car on the rollers then...............I don't mind going first. Shall I bring the Disco and 4 wheeled car trailer for any casualties.
  2. I always recommend doing these if you have to take the engine out for any reason, they are so much easier to change then, and they are not expensive to buy.
  3. Just check that the clutch fork is located correctly on the pivot ball in the bellhousing, the retaining clip should be below the ball. When bleeding are you shutting off the bleed nipple on the pedal up stroke. Another suggestion is to undo the bleed nipple, and stamp down on the clutch pedal several times.
  4. Tread carefully Mickey Bean, these engines are mean mothers to rebuild and don't take prisoners on the smallest of faults, they just fail and cost loads of money afterwards. You say that this is your first engine rebuild !! and a very public one too. Good luck matey.
  5. A senior moment by Dave then Lisa. ;) Its not just me then thank God.
  6. If the battery is over a couple of years old, and you have completely discharged it, it would need a realy good period of charging to restore it to a capable working condition, or the complete discharge could actually kill it. Either try disconnection and a long slow charge or replace. Also find the source of your current drain when parked up as that will also kill the new battery if persistant.
  7. I think that looks awesome, it does the business for white. I have always dismissed white until I seen yours Si and then I changed my mind, this Zed confirms the look, white is beautiful and really suits the style and shape.
  8. The only white Zed I know in the west is FunkySi's and his definitely does not smoke, Si would not allow it.:)
  9. Could this be an Import / UK Maf difference thing. I have only had import Zeds and all have had 5 pins.
  10. It sounds as though your injector seals are leaking and fuel is leaking from the fuel rail. After a run, shine a light down to the top of the injectors to see if their wet. You will obviously have to keep the engine running as the fuel evaporates quite quickly in that heat, which is what you are smelling. A new set of seals are about £20 but it is plenum off job. Your fuel economy will drastically improve tho'.
  11. Its is normal power steering fluid and is fed from the same pot in the front. To really bleed it properly you need it hooked up to a Conzult which can replicate the Hicas action when stationary but I think if you keep turning the steering from full lock to full lock whilst bleeding either side of the rack, you should be able to get the air out. Make sure you keep the pot topped up as it does goes down rather quickly.
  12. Have these items suddenly got cheap......or am I missing something here. The last kit I bought which was the 2 valves and new pipes which as stated have springloaded valves in them, cost me £70.
  13. I like black Zeds Gary and yours look just Greeeeeaaaaaat. You should have said you were going away and I would have volantered to keep the oil circulating for you. Porto del carmen, another favourite place as well. Its the only place to stay on Lanzerote in my opinion. Some great restaurants around the very small harbour and some good bars on the front. Lucky barsteward.;)
  14. Standard injectors.......standard turbos.......maxed out ? I would not think so. I think you probably have other issues.
  15. Murty, change the pending to 'confirmed'. The car is running the 'dogs do dahs' and I think this will be a great day. Previous was 383 bhp, it feels just fantastic since new JD chip and new clutch. It just goes !! can't wait for the rollers to confirm whats happening.:)
  16. It looks a clean car but I would be sceptical about some of the dealers remarks, i.e., multi function steering wheel ? it has cruise, a horn and steers the car !! trip computer ?? the speedo as far as I know just has a trip recorder. At least they are not making any outrageous claims about performance bhp. Come on Alan (StellaZ) you must know this car.
  17. I don't think that is out of the question now that you have fitted those 'piggy backed' Pickering hydroponic injectors, overrun lightened flywheel and the 2 new sequential double torrent spiral impeller turbos. You were kicking 450 before so you must be up near the 650 ish mark now.
  18. You can't blame the chap for trying, and it's not a bad job but still crap.:xxx:
  19. What sort of numbers are we talking about when you say 'the more cars the cheaper it is'. is it 20 or 30 or the impossible dream of 40. I think we will struggle to get 20 Murty, possibly only 10. Will Castle Motors be interested in such a low turn out, especially as it would mean having 2 or 3 staff available on the day to manage it. What about refreshments, hot dogs, coffee etc., is that going to be available ? We are only 4 weeks away so this event needs clarifying, costs, tests, refreshments and more importantly timings. Do you need deposits ? to confirm the bookings.
  20. Firstly I would make sure that all your electrical connections are in good condition, (not corroded or dirty) PTU, CAS, TPS, Plug connections, injector connections, water temperature sensor, fuel temp sensor etc., and if the problem still persists then you need to start looking for other causes such as vacuum pipe leaks, boost leaks, air filter collapsing through damp, fuel filter requiring changing. If you still have a problem after going through the above, then I would recommend a Conzult hook up to try and identify the fault area. It's never easy when trouble comes on these motors but hey, when they are going well......what a smiley.
  21. As a matter of interest, is the £40 based on certain numbers booking in, or could it get cheaper the more that want to use it. I can see that £40 will put people off despite the promise of a 'ton of tests' and this if the numbers remain low could end up being called off. Could the fee not be graduated, i.e., 20 rollers = £40, 30 rollers = £30 and so on, this might then interest other regions and slightly offset the cost of travel.
  22. I know what he will say Pete, put it on ! he put his own on after a rebuild and no probs.:)
  23. Your only jealous cos your not in the running. :)
  24. Sorry Simon, I missed your post as a last minute decision was made to go down to Devon for the weekend. We must get together so you can give her a go. Murty seems very quiet these days, it must be his job causing him stress, or that Zed of his.;)
