  1. I agree and disagree there. The important thing is the date of import and how long it has been on the UK's roads with the salt. There has been some pretty horrible imports on here with bad rust due to being in the UK for some time, so an import recently imported is a good buy, but still needs to be looked over well by someone who knows his Zeds.
  2. RPS clutches are great, but very heavy on the pedal and really only needed if you are pushing out more than the standard power. I fitted and Exedy and the pedal pressure is so different from the heavy RPS clutch. My car is now banging out around 400 bhp and the Exedy is doing just fine. The price difference is great too.
  3. It does not matter which option you decide to go for, I would certainly recommend an alignment check. In the past I have changed both arms and joints and measured the rod threads with a vernier, and it drove OK but later when I had the whole lot checked, and adjusted, afterwards it drove so so much better. It felt like a different car.
  4. They most certainly do but this last series has been a bit 'flakey', sort of lacking in ideas and I used to be an avid watcher of TG and always ensured I was sat down comfortably before it came on, that is not the case now, I have only seen a couple of them and mates are all saying how crap it is. Obviously the viewing figures will begin to fall and then the saleability will diminsh and it will end up like the previous TG..........dull. All three of the team I think are brilliant, but the show now lacks bite.
  5. Sort out a deal.............from Tel Aviv, and doesn't even give his real name.
  6. Slight ding ?? the chassis legs at the front of these cars are sturdy and the metal used for the inner wing panels which are welded to the leg is thicker than most and thus to bend the leg takes more than a 'slight ding'. What did you hit ?

I thought you said 'you were working and can't get out of it' ???
  8. The strut brace normally touch the cam covers when pulling away or accelerating hard. If your engine mounts are 'old' they will be soft or even split and this will exacerbate it. A grating noise could be your tenson rods at the front which do tend to make funny noises once they start to lose their fluid.
  9. I am on my third but it is only a used as a second car, a toy if you like. I keep spending money on 'em with mods etc., then sell them, then miss the thrill and buy another. Spend shed loads again on the engine, turbos, wheel etc., get bored, sell it. I dread to think how much I have spent on Zeds so far, that said I think this willl be my last as it does not have anywhere to store my pension book, incontinence pads or my zimmer frame.
  10. Most used engines are sold minus the turbos anyway and has been said, Andy is a straight bloke.
  11. You could try Danny at DTA or ring Jeff at Zedworld who may know of a UK supplier. There are also other US companies that sell performance parts but I would not know their performance when things go wrong. It goes against the whole American scene where 'service' and the 'customer' is king, sadly not the case with Z1.Also check in the 'For sale' section, I thought that some on here was selling a load of performance bits.
  12. /\/\/\/\/\ As Graham states, you must have a leak somewhere. Mine does not do it and I have not driven it for 2 months, in fact the battery has now got too low to start it, but there is no condensation inside the car. Find the leak and dry the car out and then all should be OK.
  13. Jimmer tried to buy some injectors and convertors from Deatschwerks who took his money and promised delivery, but 2 months later he was still waiting, and after waiting another 4 weeks on a promise, he requested his money back. No probs there but his car was in bits for all that time waiting for the new injectors. Not good.
  14. Z1 provide a great service when it comes to buying stuff.............but when it goes wrong, i.e. faulty parts etc., they just do not want to know. They don't answer emails so you have to call them, and then they fob you off or ask you to send it back which costs money which you dont get back. Now, if its a genuine Nissan part they supplied, they refer you to Nissan UK, who then refer you to your local Nissan Dealer, who then don't want to know and refer you back to Nissan UK, so two months down the line you still have a knackered part, and you give up and buy another locally. So, cut out the crap and buy local, its much easier to sort when things go wrong.
  15. What are you running currently ? or is it not on the road. With the setup you describe a socketed ECU is a must so that you can change the mapping to suit the environment you plan to use the car in, i.e. as a everyday road car or a track day car. You can send you ECU off to someone like John Dixon (on here) and he will modify it to fit a socket and do you a chip, so you will have to decide what you are looking for performance wise and of course costs.
  16. What local ones ?
  17. Very rare for overfueling to cause a backfire through the exhaust, it normally chucks out black smoke which is very evident on tickover. It sounds more like perhaps an exhaust valve leaking or a timing issue. If you are very sure that the timing is OK, I would be inclined to do a Conzult power check or a compression check. This would highlight a cylinder with a problem.
  18. FunkySi got banned.
  19. Cold, dry and possibly icey, nice and easy in the Zed Lisa, don't let Dave drive.;)
  20. You ought to buy yourself a Zed mate, you would lose 100's of pounds regularly.
  21. The price will not rocket ever because they are so expensive to run, also when the prices do begin to go up, they will start importing them again and thus bringing the prices back down again. Enjoy the ride and the ever lowering bank account.
  22. And me.
  23. Lambo doors.................yee hah.
  24. I've known this guy all his life (he's my son) and it's not like you all think it is. He spent his early life designing and building forts, yes forts / castles, and only moved into Zeds in recent years. Mind you the forts were great. But something else you should know is that he's is a very determined person, in the 2nd picture his two lovely children are enjoying themselves in the dingey, but note who is lurking in the background, yes its that dingey hijacker you all know as Jimmer, I had to buy the kids icecream after this to cheer them up.;)
  25. My daily driver is a diesel disco automatic and is certainly no ball of fire and has the cornering ability of a wardrobe, so I am probably one of those people you are refering to, but when I get in the zed I do drive it with a bit of spirit because you can overtake cars very safely and quickly. I do stick to speed limits tho' excepting the on motorways.:)
