Perspex strip....
Silicone sealant. Don't use Tiger seal or the other similar type of sealant as you would find it difficult to remove if it gets damaged.

Ready for 2010.
Looking really great Dan and I'm glad you have gone for the 99 spec front bumper, that definitely makes the front look sooo much better (its a shame about the stupid number plate mounting boss that it comes with). have you had the 3 slam panel plates sprayed to match the car ?

Re=-Filling Air Con
It will cost more than a normal regas if the aircon system is original. They have to change the valve on the system so that is can be hooked up to the European aircon machines. I think the new valve from what I can remember is about £25 ish so look to be paying about £80-£90 all in.

Huge Cheddar Gorge meet with Pistonheads
Right, sounds great except that it will attract certain baseball cap wearing Saxo drivers.

Huge Cheddar Gorge meet with Pistonheads
Cheddar Old Bill will not like that, they are a spikey lot under normal circumstances, so 140 + noisey cars may just cause a few, err, ehh, conflicts ?

fitting cruise control to a zed
Spot on Dave. Non cruise control Zeds do not have the necessary wiring so a plug and play jobber would not be on the cards. I know, I took everything off a breaker to fit on my Zed............no plugs , no wiring, no chance.

Leather retrim
Speak to Jimmer and Funky Si, they both bought kits and done their own. The key word is 'patience' and take your time. I is not a nice job, i.e., the front seats are quite heavy to man handle which is very tiring, but the results can be fantastic. Also I know Jimmer had looked at other peoples retrims and noticed that the seat squab leather was lose due to the padding becoming compressed over years of use. He inserted some extra padding which takes out the normal slack and makes his seats look fantastic.I bet Funky has posted pics up in his rides.

Important Club Discussion!! Caliper mounting brackets, ARE THEY SAFE?????
The bolts are not the weak point in this argument, its the quality of the material and the weld.You could make the bracket from chocolate and even by fitting 10.9 bolts, it will still break. 8.8 bolts which by the way are used on towbars to hold the ball on have a proof loading of 85,000 lbs and a yield strength of 92,000 lbs, 10.9's have a proof loading of 120,000 lbs and a yield strength of 130,000 lbs, both of which are far greater than what is exerted on these brackets. As stated the nub of the problem is the material chosen and the quality of the welds, which look good in this instance. Personally I would go for a set machined from solid and the material could be either steel or aluminium provided it is the right strength. Mild steel and aluminium bar can both be obtained with a similar tensile strength of 250 nmm'sq, whereas high tensile steel is 1000 nmm'sq. Most parts on vehicles are made from mild steel because of the cost factor and also the ease of machining or fabricating. Of course in some cases it is heat treated to improve its hardness but this can also make it brittle.

Some calipers are cast aluminium and they don't break.

you and who's army - cheeky russians!
They do it for the irritation factor apparently. World talk has always been about how broke Russia is but since the oil revenue has increased substantially, they can now afford to fly these missions. Its to remind us that they still have power, the old Russian bear flexing its muscles, but of course the Russian people are still unbelievably skint and finding it difficult to survive. Thats Russia for you.
