dont know whats wrong
You really need to clean all your electrical connections in the engine bay, MAF, PTU, CAS, TPS etc., but popping back through the exhaust can be the sign of more serious problems. If it still persists after the clean up, then I would recommend a compression test.

Huge joint Tri-area RR day...anyone interested?

Full respray - what to look out for?
The most important thing is to pick the right paintshop. pop along during the day and see their work in progress and also finished items, of which you need to give a close inspection. If your happy with what you see and the price is within your budget, press on.

Autobox Oil working Temp ... What is it?
If you run an automatic there are a couple of things you should be aware of. As stated above, the oil in the box under hard driving can reach 130 to 140 deg C, which is Ok providing everything is working as it should. By this I mean the auto box oil cooler and the engine oil cooler. The auto box cooler on early models I believe is built into the radiator so it also transfers it heat into the cooling system thus raising the temp. On the ones fitted with seperate coolers this does not happen but you need to ensure that the stand alone cooler is clear and not blocked by road debri. (I saw one recently full of bird feathers and a dead bird wedged into one corner) If you can afford to update your autobox cooler I would recommend it. If the autobox is running at high temps for long periods, it transfers that heat via the torque converter to the crankshaft which heats up the engine oil and thins it. This is when there is a chance of a bearing picking up causing permanent damage. So, keep both coolers clear of crap and make sure that both the box and the engine oil levels are kept topped up, = happy motoring.

Electrical problem - Car Dead
There is something draining the battery which is why is sparked when you went to connect the jumper leads. The headlamps flashing sounds as though it is part of your alarm setup. Recharge the battery and before reconnecting, make sure that everything in the car is switched off. Connect the earth lead loosely (on the terminal but not tightened up) and then touch the positive terminal on the battery with the positive lead. If it sparks, you still have something on and taking power which needs to be disconnected. Take the lid off the relay box positioned on the passenger wing, and when touching the lead on the terminal, feel each of the relays to see if one or more is being activated, they click and vibrate a little. If one is then look to see what function is carries out and if necessary remove it temporarily. If this stops your sparking, you found the cuplrit. If no joy here, then its down to the fuse box in the drivers footwell, and after annotation, take all the fuses out.Touch the lead to the battery again, if no sparks, replace fuses one at a time until you find the fuse that is causing the sparking. This is the item that is drainijng your battery. It could then be down to a failed relay in the 'activate' position. have you fitted anything electrical lately, i.e a turbo timer, or something else that involes perhaps taking the centre part of the dash out around the radio installation.Good luck.

Ex member ripping people off
Well, I do think that all has been said and that all now know who is being discussed here. It should be laid to rest, unless of course the Police make further evidence available. I feel sorry for those who have been affected by what has happened but I also think that all blame is not entirely with the subject person. I have no previous experience with this guy apart from what he has decided to publish on this site, of which has been very good info albeit from the Nissan manual. His previous employment from what I can gather was not mechanical, by that I mean from a garage background, so his knowledge was new found and not from previous experience and formerly trained in motor vehicle technology. His very abundant technical replies to many questions put on this forum prabably gave the impression an indepth proffessional background. But surely this would have raise alarm bells when vehicles were in his care for longer say than 6 months. What other garages do anyone know have cars for repair for that sort of time ? Come on now, its a no no. It has all been said here, so lets just move on and accept that some people just aint being responsible, and that goes for both the supposed culprit and the customer. Its ended up being a problem for both.

classic
I think that they have gone up a bit, but not much. This i think was purely down to it not being wothwhile importing them anymore, however that appears to have changed and there seem to be several companies on Ebay advertising 'fresh inports' of 300's, mostly non turbo ones, obviously because they are a lot cheaper to buy in Japan. Also I think that they are more widely known about now which has probably raised the 'desire' rating. The cost of ownership is always going to keep prices depressed tho' so don't get excited just yet.

Ex member ripping people off
This sort of thing is not about how you run a business, but how you deal with failure. If done right you can retain your respect, if done wrong, (and this sounds wrong) then you deserve all you get. That said, surely anyone who leaves their car with someone for years, and it has been public knowledge that others have been in the same situation, and that the business has been struggling in recent times, i.e., rumours of closing down, then you need to take some responsibility for the position you now find yourself. I hope it's resolved amicably but reading through I cannot see that happening. The Police will only be involved with regard to the 'break in', the rest will be a civil action, i.e. you taking the said person to court to recover your losses.

modding a zed?
Be careful with the Mines ECU, they are very aggressive and can cause detonation and if this is not spotted and rectified will totally fulbar your engine. Be warned.

Joint meet with Devon
I have just come down the M5 and passed 3 gritters, that is not good news, all that salt being chucked out means a lot of crap on the underside of your car. That does it for me, I will not be taking my Zed out this weekend.

which clutch
From experience Dave, I totally disagree with that statement, I bought one of their performance clutches and it lasted just over 4 months before it started slipping. When it was taken out it had fecked me lightweight flywheel as well.:mad2: Jimmers car had a cheap paddle clutch fitted in it for a couple of years, and it performed fantastically even with 450 bhp being steamed through it. It was so good he now has it mounted and framed on his garage wall.:tt1:
