  1. all depends on the spec of the GTS. the RB25 engine is quite good, has a lot of tuning potential. agree if i was going to have a skyline id prefer the GTR, but there are some well spect GTS out there. got any pics/specs for us?
  2. why do you need to replace the loom when replacing the engine?
  3. hows that then? how much out is the reading?
  4. dont think large spoilers suit a Z. nice an subtle for the win. as for the 180SX, de-spolerd defo. or if its fully kitted a BGW
  5. sorry, it goes to the stock oil pressure location. (that not good for temp?)
  6. turbo timers are pritty easy to install. as long as you know which wires are what on your timer! most jap ones are the same (HKS, Greddy) same colour wires etc iv never seen the one you have? need to find out what colour wires are what on your timer. connecting them to the car then is fine. just as a guide, there are usually: 3 wires to the ignition barrell, 1 to the handbrake, 1 to the ground, 1 to the ECU)
  7. i dont know, maybe off topic, but whats that thing in the boot? on the right, looks like abs thing? asuming its the HICAS??
  8. didnt you just say in your previous post yout scated at the engine bay, and looks like its expensive to do work on? replacing the turbos itself is costly!! let alone the costs of the turbos! not too sure the differences on internal/external wastegates, sure theres some turbo gurus on here to advise
  9. hate the big towing fog lights  i too have a red bulb in my reverse light, with a manual switch onit. my other reverse light doesnt work tho (common problem) luckily you dont need reverse light for MOT :)
  10. yea it isnt showing low?? il top up to see if makes it go.
  11. yea their not "real" screamer pipes, as they come from external wastegates as someone said. those screamer downpipes are similar, hear the air 'screaming' out the pipe on boost. sounds like a boost leak. love it tho! really hear the air being thrown out!
  12. yea i forgot the UK versions have 4 cats all together, 2 in the downpipes (precats) then 2 normal. the jap versions dont. so i was told! :)
  13. im on Tein Super Strweet coilovers. nothing to worry about then? dodgy conection? like i said there is plenty of fluid in the resivour?
  14. not sure, never really read all the fees etc, but i beleive its in the £1000 reigon, for shiping, tax etc. this car is still in Japan by the way and stil for sale
  15. its not difficult to replace the downpipes (the downpipes are the ones that come from the turbo elbow to the midle section of the exhuat. these contain the cats. you can get stainless steel downpipes, with no cats for about £100 from ebay (brand new) or i pickt up some normal steel ones for £50. i paid mechanic to fit them, as lookt a bit difficult underneath lol cost me £50 to fit. you can weigh the cats in at a scrappys then for £30 each! so this mod pays for itself more or less. pay atention to Merts post tho regarding the turbo seals. if cars healthy shud be fine, but if turbos shagd itl smoke on boost
  16. i thaught this also. you dont need 2 gauges (somehow) however there are 2 turbos, technically you could have a dawes device (boost controller) set on 18 PSI, and the other left stock. the boost gauge would give a reading, but surely this is not correct? if you have the 2 turbos on equal boost then i can see its fine.
  17. noticed this today and yesterday, when go round a round about, the handbrake light comes on for a second? ive checked there is brake fluid in there, seems fine?
  18. i have one, its a triple adapter :) has 3 take offs, 1 at the top (where gold bolt is) 1 at the bottom (where braided hose is) and 1 on the side (nothing pluggd in) can run the standard oil pressure sensor, aftermarket oil temp and after market oil pressure. i had this from gaugeplace.co.uk if anyone wants to know. about a tenner? cheaper than a sandwich plate
  19. its not very difficult to do. just buy a gauge of your fancy, you connect the electrical wires to your cd player for example (power, earth, ignition) so it lights up and has power to move the gauge needle. then you plug the sensor from the gauge, thro the firewall, into the engine bay, and into the standard location (oposite side of engine to the oil filter) hardest part is geting underneath the car and plugin the sensor in. gauge part inside is quite fun :)
  20. i think we should remember that the majority of our fellow JDM cars are usually tuned! even if their just basic 'stage1' mods (exhuast, filter, boost up) it does boos them a lot! not for 1 second am i putting our Z'd's down, i mean we are 300BHP, 0-6 5 second, 150mph machines, but evo,RX7, GTR i think they would generally have us :x: standard form we are NEARLY eaqaul, but like i said its hard to find equal cars on the roads, a moderatly tuned S14 would beat a standard Z for example. a moderatly tuned evo, these are beasts. im just saying beware what you challange!
  21. think the insides are fab  know what you mean tho, outside is a bit plain? think its the rims. little bit of light bodykit somewhere and nice rims and they are loverly cars.
  22. good work on destroying that spoiler! :)
  23. can you put too much oil in? obviously i dont mean so its spilling out the oil cap, i mean if you put say 6 litres of oil in? bad?
  24. a little smoke is nothing to worry about. these are old dinosaurs remember :p
  25. is there any harm in not having one at all? i was going to change my oil the other week, but so all the plastic in the way i was put off lol. not all cars have them do they? or isit just the same as a mud flap :p
