  1. I was about to write a huuuge screed ('cos now I'm a no longer a committee member or moderator I don't have to keep my trap shut in fear of the reaction) but BigRoy's right. This whole sort of thing is a big yawn. Every club has cliques - that's life, get used to it. Cliques change - (see above). The rules of this club AND the moderation policy AND who gets appointed as mods has been a sticky thread for over a year now. RTFM or STFU It's an open club - put yourself forward in the next elections and then you can stand in the barrel in the shower of sh1t (how many people put themselves forward for Treasurer? 1 - that's all - just 1.) Ooops getting close to a screed so don't push me, there's a soapbox handy. Two thoughts to close Every committee member and moderator puts a lot into this club and just about always gets shouted at. Grow up the lot of you. Keep shouting and no-one will want to bother any more. It's only a club: a forum - supposedly for fans of the 300zx to have a banter and help each other out. Keep throwing toys out of the pram and the grownups will go elsewhere.
  2. I just ordered a set of plugs after getting advice from Chris at GetGreddy and sparkplugs.co.uk and also the tech line at NGK. NGK do NOT recommend anything other than the original PFR6B-11C. In fact, their data sheets say there is no alternative. Some have had good results with other plugs but given you can get a set of the real things from the guys mentioned above (both do good prices for forum members) why use anything else?

Congrats Andy - I guess you'll have to order another set of 04032-30P00 Skin, Outer, Double thickness. This upgrade seems to be needed for committee members these days :D

 and of course the great thing about Catch 32 is that everyone gets a share! :D :D
  5. Yes but they did do several pages on the yellow/black project Z they had on their stand. If you want a mag which always has good coverage of the 300ZX and others, then try the ZClub magazine!

  7. hahahaha took me three years to find out on mine! mrogers mate, look at the markings on the wheels - you'll see L on some and R on the other 2 - hopefully. Although at a recent Zclub meet, I did find some poor schmuck with 3 x L and 1 x R. Wonder what happened to him...
  8. yes - I lost mine but got a duplicate from the test centre. A tenner, from memory.
  9. I'd like one of those cute hood ornaments nibbling away at the plenum too - probably too dear, though :D
  10. the next meet in the south is http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?t=36766 and you'll be able to get a lot of good advice there
  11. Thanks, mtl - Godalming, eh? I think the Ram Cider House has closed but is Manor House still there? Cheers - Gio
  12. Thanks Richard - don't know if I've got enough brownie points - certainly don't have enough wheels  mtl - great, kind offer. The problem is it is still in the mechanic's garage so I either need to get it recovered to a workshop with the right tools / mechanic or get someone to go and work on it in the garage where it currently is. Unfortunately I am a mechanical muppet and consequently have no tools other than a blunt Stanley knife and a credit card  The real p*sser is that until 11.29 this am, I would have recommended this guy to every local Z owner (and I know he looks after several - including one just round the corner). Then he f*cks off to France with my engine in bits without telling me
  13. WOuld you believe it? My previously reliable mechanic has just effed off to France for week. With no notice. When I went to see him yesterday at 3pm, he said "It'll be ready Tuesday or Wed." Except sometime between then and this morning, he's p*ssed off. Leaving my engine in the middle of replacing the knock sensor. All the top bits of the engine have been removed. Is there anyone out there who can (or knows a man who can) reassemble it - and here's the key bit - by the end of next week Fri 27th Aug? For money, of course... Bit of a tall order I know - but you can't blame me for trying!
  14. Why does he want to chuck out more pollutants? Oh, I see... he's from the Wirral so anything Zeds can do to improve the sludge he breathes has to be a good thing.
  15. Can we have nominations, please, for this important Club position. Clearly offence is being caused because the politburo can't keep track of who is speaking to who and which set of in-jokes belong to which in-crowd. I am sure they are very sorry about this. Me, I can't hear myself think over the noise of clashing egos :slap: and so I would be grateful for a club "Mary Poppins" to come and help the little darlings. Anyway, I wouldn't join any clique that would have me as a member
  16. The ConZult should have given you the limit programmed into the ECU - at least that's what Lymon showed me when he did a ConZult on mine at Billing.
  17. Thanks guys: mk3mr2, MikeGroves, mtl - yes I'm going to bite the bullet on those gaskets. Not worth the risk. Just wish I had been able to find out about them in time to order from the US along with all the other stuff I ordered which arrived fine 10 days ago ! damn damn damn... mk3mr2, thanks for the pics and mtl thanks for the tips - will pass them on The best laid plans of mice, men and Zed owners gang aft agley!

  19. Rowntrees Of York Give Best In Value (at least they did before those Swiss gits bought them :D )
  20. My techy bloke is up to his armpits in bits of my engine which he has taken off to change the knock sensor when he says "where are the lower inlet manifold gaskets?". I ring round and pick myself off the floor when I find these are £62.10 + VAT each. For a gasket? So I ring another guru and all-round parts supplier and he says "I'm just doing the same thing on mine and my techy bloke has just given up. You can't take the inlet manifold off with the engine in the car as there are little bits of pipework at the back which make it impossible." So back to Guru 1 who says "yes you can - but it is fiddly and there is a knack to it." So, if there is anyone out there who has actually replaced a knock sensor in the proper place (i.e. not the relocated place on one of the bolts at the back) can you do it with the engine in the car and if so, any pointers? Aaand (again if anyone has actually done it) are the effing expensive gaskets reusable? Guru 1 is a perfectionist and prefers not to reuse and Guru 2 doesn't like throwing money away unnecessarily (shouldn't have bought a Z then hehe aaargh). TIA - Gio
  21. Well, mine's in Datchet getting a spot of TLC. And I'm not really in Slough anyway - despite all the tacky signs they put up recently which keep getting vandalised. BTW from one of your earlier photos are you just up from a Total garage on the road down to J5 of the M4?

I've never heard anyone say imports are inferior. Nobody I know would make such a stupid mistake :nelson: Anyhow, they're ALL imports :D :D
  23. Either this... or perhaps this....
  24. damn - beaten to it :)
  25. errrr..... Consult is the Nissan handheld "official" dealer tool and ConZult is the laptop software / cable available from DTA (agents for the Dutch mafia - aaargh not the kneecaps, sorry Eric :D ). comparison between Consult and ConZult here
