  1. You asked this question before a few years ago. Let us try to explain again: US cars, like continental European cars, drive on the RIGHT. UK cars, like Japanese cars, drive on the LEFT. US cars are LHD and UK cars are RHD. So - why on earth would you want to import a US car to the UK? Or - as you said the last time - why on earth would you want to import a J-spec car into the UK to be shipped to Spain?
  2. Hi davido140, any professional digital speccy will do (and there are also a lot of ropey ones still out there with the installers). And mostly our installers cheat as they align the dish on Sky at 28 and then hey presto thanks to the magic of 3D geometry, our service is automatically aligned on the other feed.
  3. Hallo gents - it's me :p I wanted to offer a deal to subscribed forum members which is why MAC put this thread to see if it was interesting. The deal is any forum member who subscribes to us will get a free month. And if we get loads of business, MAC will either get a cheque from me for the forum or break my legs. We will shortly be doing two way via satellite but this is not going to be cheap. What we are doing at the moment is phone line one way and satellite inbound. WillieO is right. You can have it stand alone - just a dish pointed at "our" satellite (eBird at 33E). Any normal dish / LNB will work for this. And a data receiver (we do two types: USB and Ethernet - and you can also use an internal one). You can upgrade a Sky dish with a Duo LNB so you get Sky from 28 as usual plus us from 33E at the same time with no interference. P2P will work fine but bear in mind you will not get any outbound benefit as you are sending via the phone line. (or ISDN) Data receiver USB or Ethernet is £149.99 inc VAT and the service starts at £19.99 per month. You need normal internet access as well - so you can keep your existing ISP, email address, web host etc. We can give you free PAYG on a local call rate no if you want. More services soon. The contract is one month minimum commit so you're not locked in for a year. If anyone has any more qs I'll do my best to answer either here or via pm/email as you prefer. Cheers Guys - and thanks for the opportunity, Mac
  4. Hallo gents - it's me ok ok finger trouble oops sorry - left it in 'cos I liked pete's response :D
  5. The red Zed was a SWB N/A. I have no idea of the finishing order as I was hanging on for grim death with heart pounding and the cones marking the end of the strip (and the beginning of the active runway with planes taking off coming towards us  ) getting closer at what seemed like the speed of light (but was only about 92mph according to Mr Nissan). IIRC, the 350Z came second both runs and Tony's 260Z third.
  6. It's complete *****cks. A waste of time and money. They keep getting ticked off by the ASA for talking *****cks. As it says here If it sounds too good to be true, it probably is. File in the round file next to why blow off valves are good for Zeds.
  7. A silver manual, of course :D And here, courtesy of the Z Club are some piccies: http://www.zclub.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1300 http://www.zclub.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1301 http://www.zclub.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1306 http://www.zclub.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1302 (how the hell do I get these to appear instead of being links?) http://www.zclub.net/gallery/showphoto.php?photo=1305
  8. I tried three places - including the usually all-conquering Micheldever Tyres and they all said "can't get hold of Eagle F1s - don't know when the next stock is arriving." Ah well, the hiss of air escaping past the nail (b*gger) meant I had to get something so at least they had S-03s in stock.
  9. Sadly not Top Gear - although they have already shown a white Z32 beating a 350Z (over, IIRC, 1/5th mile). This was for a Clarkson DVD which will be out in November.
  10. I think it only goes to show JC can't drive and talk at the same time
  11. As I understand it, you pressurise the system while the engine is off. Otherwise how could you hear the small hiss of escaping air which tells you where the leak is?
  12. What fun that was. Under totally unscientific conditions on an airfield just north of Oxford, a slightly sick stock silver 300ZX TT (try saying that six times quickly) beat one J Clarkson (with his brand new Selfridge jeans and £400 Farhi jacket) in a stock 350Z. Twice. mwuahahaha :D  Thanks for the pic, neil. For more - visit http://www.zclub.net/gallery/showgallery.php?cat=500&ppuser=1081 DVD out in November, apparently.....
  13. hmmmm verrrry interesting. Thanks guys - if any one might be interested in doing an "official" report, pm me. Just getting the facts for now.....
  14. Thanks Andy - the battery was disconnected for a week. I'll get the strap checked.
  15. Thanks Jeff, it's another on the list for the bloke to fix - but if there's a problem, expect a phone call! Cheers - Gio
  16. As a non-guru, would I be right to guess running rich is better than running lean (one damages the wallet and the other makes plink-y plink-y plink-y BANG noises in the cylinder)? I checked (thanks for the pic) and think the sensor is plugged back in - but will fiddle with it when it's not quite so hot! Anyhow, it's something that can go on the "it's not yet fixed or it's a new fault when you broke something" list for the mechanic. Thanks for the info - Gio
  17. Thanks Guys, ain't it strange - when I joined, everyone (well, almost everyone) swore by Bridgestone S-02s. Then it was Toyo Proxes and now Eagle F1s. So that's a set for me on the back (I assume no probs to having F1s on the back and S-03's on the front?). Anyhow, they have a very coool tread pattern :D
  18. Thanks, Paul, I don't mind paying a fair whack for a fair job and even cutting a little slack but people taking the p*** gets right up my nose :) See you later
  19. Thanks Jeff, will I break it if I keep driving it? Or is this a "can wait a few days" problem?
  20. Hi all - and thanks for the replies on the other qs. It's been a long day.... The last one for tonight is a new bloody noise. After getting my Z back from replacing the knock sensor (involves removing / replacing the plenum, turbo downpipes and a lot of other stuff) and the O2 sensors, I am now getting a strange zoooshing ( © N Molesworth) noise on hard acceleration. I'd swear blind it wasn't there before. If I'm tootling around, no noises. If I am firm with the loud pedal, as the boost gauge swings past 0, there's a high pitched zoosh. Then the zoosh fades as the gauge goes back down. I am reasonably certain this is not mechanical - there's no horrible vibration or screeching noises or (thank buddha) smoke. The boost gauge (OEM) seems to go as high as it ever did - perhaps a tad higher. I haven't been able to do too many acceleration *ahem* tests as the other half is, shall we say, unimpressed with such behaviour. But I am going to an airfield tomorrow..... Any ideas? Is this what leaky vacuum pipes sound like? Or has the fiddling under the bonnet fixed something which had been not working up to now and they all sound like that sir. Other than the Code 42, everything seems fine with the ECU and all the PCV gubbins was replaced less than 18 months ago. And I've got a skid-pan booked for Saturday! TIA - Gio
  21. It's a long story... and it ain't over yet. Hence the request for info - just trying to find some facts to see if I need a legal eagle. All will be revealed if this saga ever finishes! (As the bank manager once wrote: Dear Gio, at this branch we have three accounts which are causing us some concern: yours, Mexico's and Poland's. And in that order :(
  22. Attn Gurus, I just had a shedload of work done (if I knew then what I know now......) This was kicked off by the knock sensor needing replacing so, as those gurus who have done it will remember, the whole top of the engine had to come off. Everything from the lower inlet manifold upwards. I realise (now) just how big a job this was but am still slightly  stunned by the size of the bill. The question is, how long do you think this lot would take? Is 24 hours reasonable? That's 24 working hours for one bloke (3 days) or two blokes working for 12 hours etc etc. Does anyone have access to Nissan book times? I had other stuff - like replacing coil pack connectors (which needed splicing) - done at the same time. To give you an idea, the parts list was: Sensor - Oxygen RH Z32 90-93 TT/NA Sensor - Oxygen LH Z32 90-93 TT/NA Sensor - Knock Z32/A32B Sub Harness - Knock Sensor Z32 Gasket - AAC/IAC Valve Z32 Inlet Manifold Gasket 300ZXTT Cam Belt, Z32 Down Pipe Exhaust Ring, Z32 Thermostat, Z32 Gasket - Plenum Z32 O-ring - Balance Tube (2 required Z32) O-ring - Balance Tube Z32 Gasket - Throttle Body Z32 Gasket - AAC/IAC Valve Z32 Gasket - EGR Plenum Z32 O-ring Injector Lower 90-92NA/90-94TT Z32 O-ring Injector Upper 90-96 Z32 Insulator - Injector Bottom 90-94 Z32TT Connector - Coilpack Z32 Sensor - Head Temperature Z32 Harness - Head Temp Z32/Z31 Harness Kit -A32B/Z32 Inj. 23. How do rubber lovers, my rear Bridgestone S-03 are just about to give up the ghost. 245/45 ZR16. We don't seem to have had a tyre thread recently, so what would you recommend to replace? Car is stock, I do about 12-15,000 miles per year and I don't have a heavy right foot. Only an idiot buys tyres because they look cool but I am very tempted by the Eagle F1 because of the tread pattern :nelson: I must say I am disappointed with the performance of the S-03. I used to run S-03 on J-Spec (225/50) wheels at the back and got 18,000 - 20,000 miles out of a pair (18 or so months). Last year I "upgraded" to UK spec rear wheels (245/45) and only got 12,000 miles and 11 months use out of them. If it happens again, I might go back to J-spec ;) TIA - Gio (with a faint hissing sound as the tyreweld gives out......)
  24. My knock sensor just got replaced which involves taking the plenum / inlet menifold etc off. I am now getting code 42 fuel temperature sensor warning. My guess is that this is due to the harness being disturbed / brittle. The car appears to start / drive OK so the question is can I carry on driving with a code 42? Will there be any problem with a defunct fuel temp sensor? I read from the manual that this is to pressurise the fuel when the fuel temperature is "higher than specified". What am I risking if this doesn't happen? A cut to safety boost (no problems) or a very large, loud and expensive bang? As you'd expect from Captain Stock, I will get it fixed but is it a type A or type B job? (Type A = don't touch that ignition, call the tow truck and get it fixed right now. Type B = nah, it's OK, it can wait til the next paypacket) TIA - Gio
