  1. If that was true I'd have enough money to finish the car
  2. Haha, actually the top ones full of lifters and the bottom one is full of crack cradle and head bolts...
  3. Some bits turned up today. The new rear springs and some arch clips. Just got to find time to install now.
  4. Sick and depravered, the word for someone that hurts children is pervert and I think that's apt. All power to the people of Manchester who stepped up and pulled together, showing best of British. Shame on our media for wallowing in detail and playing into the hands of these disturbed people. Distributing images and graphic accounts is simply promotion for these people, spreading thier propaganda. There's a special corner of hell for these barbarians and thier name should never be published.
  5. Thanks for your experience Pete. They generally won't advise though, will they? Only set to what you ask. I need to get mine sorted again in the near future, especially the rear Castor. I was going to go with 1' all round, maybe slight less at the rear for off the line grip (road car ;))
  6. I take it your talking about a standard tyre/alignment place? It sounds like what your after is Chassis Tuning.
  7. Nope, not yet. It's low priority ATM. I suspect the fault lies in the fuse/relay box.
  8. :lol: in that case you will love this;
  9. Oops. Can happen to us all, rarely are people as talented as they believe. However with a car loaded with traction and safety devices doing this requires some stupidity. It's not like it was some widow maker Viper it was an R8, not exactly reknowned fir being a handful.
  10. Fitted in the indicators this morning, however the side lights are damaged by the fitting and I need some need bulb holders. 501s I think it is I need. I also cut out my arch liner mounts as they were running on big bumps anyway, this means I've got more importance on those little arch liner plugs, eBay I assume? Got the rear bumper tabs to er, massage  That pesky bolt on the ARB is now hopefully rectified. Stickers on, sorry Joel: Rear shocks are now out ready for the 4kg springs. I fired the engine up today for first time in months, it caught straight away and burst into life on all six, which I was happy about. I did notice some horrible sound but knew where to look. The Power Steering pump was empty of fluid, seems there's a leak on the banjo fitting which needs some attention. We're getting there, slowly. Can't wait to drive it again for a bit.
  11. That as Ali pointed out is part of the AIV system. You will likely have the EGR as well. Make sure you remove the AIV guff from the bay etc, I can see that some one will have left it uncapped after changing to an aftermarket exhaust. How to here; http://www.twinturbo.info/63104/137858.html
  12. Following Andrews advice I went for a dig in the shed and found an old rear light harness. Just one sadly, cut the indicatior off as a pig tail and test fitted. Ok it wasn't a perfect fit on the plug but it worked and more importantly the indicator now fits. You only gain a few MM but it's enough, as you can see it's a shallower fitting. To get round the lack of indicator lamp holders I disassembled a brake/tail light one and switched the original single pole internals. So all that was left to do was solder the bulb holder to the plugs. I opted to solder as apposed to crimp to allow some flexibility to be retained. Some heat shrink to insulate and black tape for belt and braces later were done.
  13. Imagine if your car was in there....some upset people.
  14. No problem. If you should ever wish to come over as a spectator I'm sure we could arrange to collect you from Southampton Airport.
  15. Indeed there are 100 reasons why people do these kind of jobs. I've met some incredibly intelligent people who simply don't want the rat race anymore, need flexible hours for care or simply cannot find work in thier field at present. I used to know a banker that had a break down at 30 and had to "retire" he does a part time bar job for something to do. Also we all have to do shit jobs at some point, I'd rather work than claim benefits and if you get made redundant these days a new job isn't instant, especially a good job. I worked nights stacking shelves and the lunch shift in a restaurant doing about 80 hours a week with no days off a few years back now. I'd been made redundant and needed cash to clear debt acquired from that. People in low paid jobs may actually be smarter and wealthier than the people who look down on them but most importantly they are working which is a damn site better than many in society these days.
  16. This I believe is not a unique experience. There's some hubbub on them at present, apparently they have a liking for zero hour contacts and anyone who dares to stand up for themselves isn't offered any more hours.
  17. It should be in the 10 o'clock position on the driver side wheel well. Behind the liner.
  18. Pretty sure they used to be called Yodel and they were even worse. MyHermes aren't a very good employer from what I understand, one of those 0 hours, "self employed" guff companies that need to be regulated out the market.
  19. still waiting for that bill. Here's hoping. - - - Updated - - - See page one for an up to date list...
  20. Saw this earlier today, really sad. Quite young too. No cause of death yet I see.
  21. I believe that was only early ones and only if you did t run it up to temperature before switching off. However having had the displeasure of dealing with one myself yeah they're a pain. The fuel and oil consumption for the power is disgraceful. Is that the 230hp version or the little one?
  22. It has a special place on the bottom left of my rear window. Got to have some fun.
  23. Probably the most important part turned up today after weeks of waiting, 4" square but worth about 1000 retro points.
  24. ACL bearings are popular. There are some aftermarket cheaper brands, however factor in the effect that a cheap set of rings could have (tear down and rebuild again) it's not even worth it. The cost of replacing the HGs alone would negate your savings.
  25. I'm not sure but that sounds about right, hopefully you will get a confirmation. However... the numbers on the block are in reference to the block in new condition, if the crank is worn then you may need to increase the bearing size to correct the gapping. Simply throwing in a set of bearing in the sizes stamped without measuring is a stab in the dark and a recipe for a spun bearing.
