So I recently purchased my first Z. She's a 1990 Auto TT.

 

The other day I noticed some smoke coming from the back of the engine bay, next to the gearbox fluid dipstick. I'm assuming that there is oil leaking from somewhere and is dripping onto the exhaust however I'm not 100%.

 

Just wondering if anyone has experienced this before or knows what the issue might be?

 

Any help would be greatly appreciated as I'm very new to the Z's.

Sure it's oil? There are a number of small metal and rubber hoses at the back there that can fail. A pin hole could show as evaporation esp on shut down when things are hot and pressurised. I had the same issue when I brought mine. The other option is the exhaust cam covers don't use a seal per say and the sealant fails over time. Oil then drops out the joint evaporating/smoking off the exhaust manifold.

When was the last time this car was serviced?

I'm not 100% certain that it's oil, however it seemed to smell like oil to me.

I know that a lot of the hoses have been replaced, including radiator hoses, intercooler hoses, heater matrix hoses and a coolant system silicon upgrade.

 

it didn't long ago have a service, maybe a month or two ago. Service included all the belts, tensioners, idlers and pulleys.

As Stephen said usually cam covers leak a oil on my two z's I have had the both done .

Okay cheers guys, I'll check the cam cover and see if the oil is coming from there. Much appreciated.

UPDATE:

 

Discovered that the leak was actually coolant, also found exactly where it was coming from, still need help with the issue however. Here is the new thread:
