  1. From my understanding the z32 has a variable effect on powersteering. This is determined depending on speed, low speeds more assistance high speed more resistance, so the car is easier to manorve at low speed but planted when at high speed. I understand there is a seperate ECU for the PS, so how does it work? The PS pump has no electrical hook ups, the speed of it increases with RPM so how on earth does it work? Is there a solenoid that closes down as you get faster effectively reducing assistance? Why am I asking? Well I have a little idea in my head that involves the stock PS pump going bye bye, and being replaced by an electronic one from an Astra, I just don't want to loose that feature and have a overly light and twitchy feeling car through the bends.
  2. Any man who thinks the answer the universe and everything is a number is wrong. The actual answer is simply......... why the hell not??
  3. I will resist the temptation, I will resist.
  4. Buy it soon or it will be a non Uk import! Ahahahaha
  5. Yeah I do like this colour myself, has a real deep gloss effect.
  6. That whole glitter paints, flip paints etc etc isn't cool anymore. Even the the kids with thier Hondas think it's lame. It's your car mate but you will seriously devalue it.
  7. Best place to start would be a boost leak test and to run your ECU codes. Any other odd issues such as high RPM, uneven idle etc etc.

  9. If it's reading a resistance of 50+ ohms does that mean it's failed open? With lower than 10 being too lower resistance ie it's closed? Do I understand that correctly?
  10. Lol, that was the least likely path I was going to take. I do have a slightly unorthodox plan, I'm sure you will appricate it.
  11. http://www.300zx.co.uk/forums/showthread.php?141898-FAO-Jeff-tt-manual-conversion-wiring&highlight=Manual+conversion+wiring That might help.
  12. If you search 300zx ecu pin out on google images, you will a diagram showing what all the wires do, yo take the one for the neutral switch and connect it as a loop through the neutral switch to ground.
  13. If the resistance is 57ohms it's out if spec.
  14. Thanks for that Noel, shame that, it looked pretty useful but you have just explained why it isn't. Wideband AFR gauge is on the shopping list after my recent issues, it's encouraged me to invest in one for my new engine when I eventually sort it all out. Compared to a rebuild it's a cheap indication that could well save an engine.
  15. Interesting and drawn out. I'm quite looking forward to the results now.
  16. There's loads of things that will have to be paid for you just don't think of. The new Scotland will need a defence service, until then they can't join NATO, there's a real chance the EU will reject them and many other costings for a new individual country. The costs to us will be high too, something about moving the trident missiles and that costing five billion. It's going to be a long drawn out affair, not simply a quick oh now were just Scotland.
  17. Integrated AFR gauge and boost. http://www.impconcepts.com/nissan300zxafminjgauges.htm
  18. No it's a fair comment, it's mearly a non return valve. Clean and check for proper operation. From my understanding failed PCV will usually result in pools of oil in the plenum. Seems crazy the engine was rebuilt and that token part wasn't replaced. :s
  19. Ptu tend to fail when hot, not just overnight. My guess is MAF
  20. It's looking awesome mate, very jealous.
  21. Yup just seen it circle and then land.
  22. Spotted this today whilst in the garden, it circled for about 10 minutes before landing, promptly followed by a modern bomber and two fighter jets, they were gone before I could see much of them. Then it came vac and got some pics. And just to add to it, I have to admit I had to look up what on earth the noisy thing was. http://m.bbc.co.uk/news/uk-england-29163180
  23. It's the contacts inside you need to clean not the rubber.
  24. The Z31 isn't much of a speciality here, 99% of us are Z32 owners, whilst they share a few components they are extremly different. Of corse we still welcome you and your rather rare beastie and positively encourage your presence at meets etc. You may get more experienced help on http://www.zclub.net which caters for all z models from 240z to the current day 370z. Also whilst an American based site there is a wealth if z31 experience and even a dedicated section for them at http://www.300zxclub.com. Hope you solve the issue and I hope to see your car at meets in the future.
