  5. lol yep, the one on the Silver zed broke just recently. Got to replace it before JAE
  6. Nice pics, good to meet you today Mat.
  7. I believe they were saying they were as powerfull (nearly) .....but not as fast.
  8. Could be bad connection at the det sensor, or at the connector at the top of the enigne , or in the harness somewhere. Unplug the connectors, and check for corrosion and clean. You can find it here (also tells you how to bypass it) : http://zhome.com/ZCMnL/PICS/detonationSensor/detonationSensor.html
  9. dett sensor = knock sensor Its basically a little microphone, setup to recognise the sound of detonation. It only works below 3500rpm (or 3000rpm..cant remember) as engine is too noisy above this point. When it senses(hears) detonation it sends signal to the ECU to retard ignition and boost pressure preventing further damage. I believe new sensor and harness is about £100. Although its a fair bit of labour to replace. When they fail most will bypass it until they can get it done at the same time as other major work.
  10. Welcome tbh...its borderline at £3k.......a lot of sellers are looking at the prices for rough ones and incorrectly pricing themselves in that bracket..so yes, you may get lucky and buy a decent example for that sort of cash. But be carefull...there will be a lot of rough examples out there. There is a good buyers guide here : http://www.300zx.co.uk/tech/BuyingZ.htm Come along to some local meets (or JAE - the biggest jap event of the year next weekend, where we will have 60+ zed's going), get to know the members and take one alone when you go to view cars.
  11. This is far too early for a sunday :( C'ya all soon! :D
  12. Its created automatically from the database each time you press the new posts button. are you sure nobody else in the house has viewed forum while you were away ?
  13. Easy, just use a very small screwdriver to pop the pins out of the old one, and place them inside the new connector. No need to do any cutting or rewiring. Mike @ MJP should be able to get them if nobody else has any.
  14. Unfortuantly its all hardwired in. You can get replacement connectors though and its just a case of pulling the pins out and putting them in new connector.
  15. It wont do anything without being connected to the car. What Retro has said about drivers could be correct....some have had problems, although try changing the ports first.
  16. It looks great si, now all you need to do is never drive it again so it stays like that :) p.s I'd avoid jacking the zed up on the sills, it does'nt like it very much
  17. The simplest/less techinical way would be trial and error.... In Datascan - Settings > Communication (or press F5) , and select a different port number, and try and connect....until you find correct port. or use Device manager to work out which usb port it is plugged into (unplug and replug in again to see which appears and dissapears)
  18. Those in the know will tell you to avoid Iridium plugs in the zed ! Stick to NGK PFR6B-11C/PFR6B-11B , which are designed especially for the zed as other plugs are not the correct thread/electrode length . http://www.smithys-place.co.uk/engperf.php (and they are cheaper than those ebay iridiums!)
  19. these drivers should work http://www.blazt.biz/downloads/CP2101_Drivers.exe Once installed and running, you will need to configure the correct port to use in Datascan (it wont automatically use the correct one)
