Funkysi Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 In my eyes, this will probably be the nicest modded Zed EVER....if this pic is anything to go by (as long as it has 99spec rear lights!!) So, c'mon Friday, when's bodywork plus gonna have this thing complete....and you better still have those 19" Traffic Star alloys still!!! friday Posted July 16, 2006 Posted July 16, 2006 It's done when it's done when it's done ;) I'm holding Steve up at the moment as things are being finalised for the V8 conversion. We're staying fairly true to the original mock-up although the eventual paint scheme may end up being different. No 99 spec lights I'm afraid as I can't stand 'em! As the unenlightened say, it's "caravan lights" I'm afraid  (good enough for the Zonda, good enough for me ;)) Love it or hate it, we're hoping the end result will be something totally different. Cheers for the kind words matey :) Oh...and yes, the Trafficstars are staying...;) Quote
Apollo 32 Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 This is one Z I am looking forward to seeing! Hope its all working out ok. Andy Quote

Guest lets drift Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Looking forward to seeing it once it's all sorted. Hope you don't run into too many problems. Quote
Guest mowgs Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 What are these "caravan lights" got any pics? the caravan lights are different to the 99 spec, they'r the round 4 pot lights like tizer has (first one that came into my head that has them!) Quote
Guest mowgs Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 there you go - on royals car, i think they actually come from a fiat coupe? Quote
friday Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 No, the ones on the photo above are the "old style" round lights (yep, from a Fiat). They're a bit small for my liking so I bought a set of different lights a couple of years ago from the original maker. A few companies now sell this light conversion in both "2 pot" and "3 pot" forms. Here's an old photo of mine with them on: Quote

That grung finish thingy didn't really do it for me Quote

Funkysi Posted July 17, 2006 Author Posted July 17, 2006 I personally think that if you're going down that route, then get some afterburner lights like SgT C or MarkZX. Usually not my cuppa tea, but with the backing plates and centre section sprayed gloss black, they look really cool. I think with your kit and if you have that almost pearl effect paint, it would look really good. MarkZXs rear looks really good with those lights. Quote

mgh297 Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Sorry Leigh, I think I agree with Si! IMHO I don't like those fiat type lights, some of the 3 pot lights look a lot better. I'm just really suprised you aren't going for a bespoke design after all the effort going into the car. Did this cross your mind? Quote

friday Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Lol! The trouble with me is I tend to get a mad idea and unlike saner people, I run with it! :D Was originally fabricating some R34 Skyline lights into the back-end but saw the round lights that I have and thought they went perfectly with the look that we're going for. And again, I personally prefer the 2 pot design to the 3. Mark's afterburner lights are nice but a bit OTT for me ;) (I like grunge! ;)) The main design buzz words for the original brief and drawings were: aggressive, smooth, factory-fit, stylish (with a nod to the DTM and Japanese GT series). No lairy coloured flips, metal flakes or graphics (at the most a TVR-esque flip). Once the exterior and engine is finished the interior and install will be completed over the autumn/winter...custom dash, door cards, rear sub & amp install (sponsored by Matt at Nearfield Audio)...fingers crossed it should be nice when it's done We're hoping this car will rattle a few cages both in the UK and outside if all goes well. One thing a few may find interesting is that a version of it will be produced as a kit...;) Quote
Guest lets drift Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Just go with what you like mate, I'm sure once it all comes together it will look totally amazing and very eye catching. Vive la difference and all that. Quote
boldy Posted July 17, 2006 Posted July 17, 2006 Your car,s gonna be a stunner when it,s done   and there,s nowt wrong with caravan lights ( especially if you change em a little :D ) Quote
