  1. The aircon ECU should have 3 blue connectors plugged into it. (1 long, 2 smaller, from memory)
  2. not nessarily the connectors though, broken looms are very common when disturbed in my experience - usually when they are properly disturbed though (like engine removal) rather than just moved a bit for plug change.
  3. Your looking at around £250-£300 for replacement heater matrix including fitting at a Specialist.
  4. Sad to hear, like quite a lot of his films.
  5. its Glenn's , see his rides
  6. Style is very much down to personal choice, but its quality that makes the real difference. There are far too many Cheap modifications done - Poor quality Fibreglass bodykit pieces, cheap overweight blingy alloys and inferior engine and suspension parts. Im not into anything garish...and in particular if garish looks is its sole purpose (like Veilside bodykits and bits of trim that dont suit the original design). There are so many different zed's that I could list in my top 10. Some just for looks others for there capablities. Funkysi's zed is a great example of a Car with subtle changes and improvements that really make a difference. Machine's Pentroof zed is a great example of a Highly modified example, that uses quality parts and is very much Function over form - but the end result is also very pleasing on the eye. The right modifications on the right car applies to...for example The spoiler on the SPL time attack is perfect for it, as its there to serve a strong purpose (see pic below), but on any other zed thats not built for the track it would be very wrong ! These are a couple of my other favourite examples (both of these widearch examples are custom sheet metal fabricated rather than fibreglass moulds): My Previous Zed's had subtle styling and performance improvements. My slicktop however is being built with High-end Competition use in mind - Time trials, Hillclimb, Track days (and maybe Time-attack entry). So the parts changed are there to serve a destinct purpose - Lightweight, Strength, performance...etc , but without turning it into a fully stripped out no-comprimise hardcore racer, as to me thats not what the zed is all about.
  7. ok, cool. I missed that
  8. optimax was 98, V-power 99 Im pretty sure BP Ultimate is only 97 ron (ie. super unleaded) ?
  9. I had Koni adjustables (with eibach springs) on my Black TT, yeh good setup. I'd rate them slightly over the KYB's except for ease of adjustment (rears were a pain). Slicktop is being built for a lot of track and competition work (Hill climb, Time trial, track days....etc), so coilovers a must.
  10. I asked some relatives about Suitable locations (they live between Truro and redruth) and was suggested : - lanner arms - They heard it was nice, but not been there - inn for all seasons - has a carvery supposed to be quite good lots of parking - treleigh arms - Fox and hounds - scorrier - Ottricky dickies - but may be pricey Not sure if thats helping or not...but just some suggestions to bounce off. :)
  11. Pretty sure they were purple, and was told fronts were around 12kg (possibly 14) or so Have heard good things about the Nitrons, seen the KW's but dont know anything about them. Im looking at the SPL coilovers myself, made by KTS in Japan. I dont rate Teins, and there is a lot of bad press out there for them. The popular flex's for example really are just overpriced budget coilovers, in terms of spec and quality.
  12. Depends on width. The calculator Dunk posted it very handy. Compare with stock size.
  13. The big ends are plenty robust enough, but its oil starvation thats the problem, from G-forces. The oil surges away from the oil pickup. You would want at a minimum a Bigger Sump with Baffles.....and ideally a Dry sump setup.
  14. Those with 8" wide alloys all around are becuase people are buying cheap and the wheels are designed for Corsa's, Cavaliers and scoobies..etc 8" is fine for the front though. as Wow300 says 8.5" front and 9.5" rear is a popular 18" size.
  15. do we need a "ford" forum section now
  16. The dash dimmer turned fully up should give plenty of light.....but the standard bulbs do have blue covers over them which you can remove for more light. or LED;s, as above...which can be brighter when you buy them in the large cluster versions.
  17. Actually, since I hijacked your thread I should offer a reply too LOL........for diagnosing your looking at around an 1hrs labour....if its a quick fix then jobs done..but ofcourse if diagnostics proves to point to further work required then Paul would quote for that after diagnosing. Most common issues - PTU, wiring, Coilpacks, Injector connectors, CAS....which are all relatively simple to fix.......or the dreaded compression problem.
  18. No its, ok....I was correcting Hedgehog who was copying and pasting from another thread that was out of context. Somebody called it soutwestz the other week and Paul corrected them on the name...but hedgehog seems to have misread it and thought it meant the company has not been around for a year, hence his reply..but it was just a namechange. Confusing myself now lol
  19. pmsl Has indeed been posted a few times, but still gets me everytime.
  20. what paul meant was that the name "southwestz" has'nt been around for a year, since the business was renamed to SWZ performance in 2006.
  21. Nissan OEM (Varys slightly between US/JAP/EUROPE , TT and NA) Front 2.8kg/mm (157 lb) Rear 2.4kg/mm (134 lb) The popular eibach springs are in the low 3kg range, but are progressive. To go stiffer than an 8kg/6kg setup you want high quality, as the Dampner valving really affects how well the shock will handle the harshness of stiffer springs. Also, with a stiffer chassis you can go for a stiffer setup without comprising as much ride quality.
  22. I agree. 8gk front , 6kg rear is what Im having. The Tein HR's are 8kg front, 6kg rear. Stock is around 2kg , Cant remember exact figures, have them writted down somewhere. I've been in a zed with D2's and they were unsafe on the road IMO (unsure which sprin rates)...even with adjustments it was like they were constantly on the bumpstops, bouncing down the road and my arse was actually being jumped of the seat.
  23. The spring rates advertised on that auction are harder than the Tein HR spring rates for the z32.
  24. Cheap coilovers are a false ecomony IMO. The D2's have too stiff spring rates for the road and lots of reports of poor valving.
  25. Tomtom One and G-tech meter.
