autobox bhp?
LOL You can bang you head against a wall and then back pedal as much as you like but I quite clearly said the Autobox is the 300zx weak point, you argued its not, and then later claimed it must be uprated first  The Manual box does not need to be uprated to handle more power than stock, the Autobox does, they die regularly enough on stock power. As to how much power an updated fastroad box can handle, no idea, there had only ever been a couple in the UK and none of them have been particularity high power. Rebuilding an Autobox to make it handle more power is not the same as replacing a clutch. Replacing the Torque convertor would be a comparative. Plus rebuilding the Autobox into a Fastroad box to handle more power still isn't going to allow it handle serious power like all the manual boxes out there, the only high powered Auto's out there are ones running dedicated 3-speed drag boxes that you wouldn't actually use on the road. I have removed and scrapped enough Z autoboxes over the years to be able to comfortably say they are most definatly the weakest point of a 300zx.

Broken Speedometer?
if the PAS is unchanged then its mostly likely dry joints on the speedometer circuit. If the PAS has gone heavy then its often the speed sensor itself or if you have a KPH>MPH convertor these are a common failure. Unless your journey home did not require you to move your steering wheel at all then you would notice lack of PAS, its a heavy car without it.

Car key
Titanium = Main Black = Spare Red = Valet You can get the Black and Red Key from ebay or even Nissan themselves. The Titanium key is no longer available form nissan (and was several hundred pounds anyway), but there is a company in American supplying Replica's of it for around 100dollars.

autobox bhp?
erm....your reply was to my comments about the weak stock autobox. You cant argue with my comments about the Nissan autobox and then claim your not even talking about the Nissan autobox anyway LOL ..and a Manual Clutch is entirely different thing to an entire gearbox

z front
Stock front bumper is Polyurethane. No idea why its happened to yours and Dans though. Im guessing yours is Fibreglass though Dan ?

what about this clutch kit ?
We've had a couple of members buy and fit this kit and it started slipping soon after :( I Have also heard of the friction pads coming loose of the disc with this clutch.

autobox bhp?
People have had autoboxes rebuilt to handle more power in the past. They fit stronger bands for improved reliability and increase the line pressure for quicker changes (there may be other changes too). Nobody surely thinks that about a stock autobox, cant say I've ever seen anything that ridiculous said by another member before !?

Ebay Wheels
yeh, they are cheap and heavy chinese wheels, but the design is quite attractive and would suit the Z. Im sure I've seen them fitted to several Z's

Hi.. new potential convert...
Welcome. Unless your looking to put the car to use in some serious track action then I would just get whatever version you can find the best example of for your budget. The Slicktop is a bit of a hardcore enthusiasts option and very rare, nearly all Z's are Targa models anyway. Most common variant is the 2+2, but if you have no need for the rear seats then I would personally opt for the Shortie. They are all Good though  LWB handling feels heavy and lazy in comparison to the slicktop, but that does make it easier to control on the limit...such as for drifting.

a little help please
A typical figure with that setup would be 375-400 flywheel HP, possibly pushing a little over 400 at that boost. Hope it has Bigger injectors otherwise they will be at max duty and most likely lean up the top. The specification of Stage 1 tubs varies depending on who built them, but typically stage 1 would be rebuilt with 360 bearings and slightly enlarged compressor turbine with machined housing, but could just be 360 bearings with stock internals or vice versa.
-
What kinda Power with this setup?
Your looking at about 450hp max at the flywheel with those tubs, which would be around 370-400 rwhp.

weight
If this if for transport costs, then you'll need to get it on a Pallet service. You can use a 1/2 pallet service which usually covers weights of up to about 250kg.

Hicas good or bad ?
Early 90's Marketing ploy IMO, all the Jap manufactures were at it at the time. Feels more planted and controllable with it gone.

Why is the 300zx severely underrated?
300zx vs 997 turbo - Stock for stock, absolutely no doubt about it, the porsche wins. Modified though anything can beat anything. Look at the SPLparts 300zx and the UAS 300zx, they beat more powerfull fully modified race spec 993 and 997 Turbos out on the track.

are the clocks/clusters the same?
Should be a straight swap. There are 3 connectors on your NA loom, they may just have fallen down down behind the dash (although the looms are short with not a lot of movement)
-
are the clocks/clusters the same?
They all have 3 connectors. But the size of one of the connectors differs between series.

Stunning Z32 on Japanese ebay.
Becuase they look and drive nicer, but for a road car only I'd be happy with targa's.

1000 posts :D
Post Whore ! ;) btw, been meaning to say I was looking over your car at Z009 and I was impressed, that a very tidy example you have there !

Indecisive... Caliper colour...
Go for the Silver. Black is nice, as long as you dont want anyone to notice the nice big brakes you've just spent a fortune on LOL

Stunning Z32 on Japanese ebay.
Potentially a bargain for a series 3 But lets not forget that pictures are never a way to tell condition and cars always look better inside under artificial lighting.
