A Few site updates and overall changes [AGM]
Hi, Yes plans are in place and underway. We are looking at the overall picture rather than just sticking a front page in as there is many security issues we need to address if we were to add a static like page. For the moment a beta test site has been setup on an undisclosed top secret server (bets it shows up in google, lol) I've taken a copy of the current database and upgraded the full platform to vBulletin 5 in order to test. Now a few issues arise from this and there is many Pros but also Many Cons and some features we will loose and have to start from scratch again. vBulletin 5 has come along way since its release and the move if we proceed will not be easy so i'm taking my time. Listed below is a few issues that i can see straight up : Garage & Gallery module not compatable - will need to use vBullitins built in or find a new module that works. Thanks, Like, WTF module is beta for version 5 and we would need to buy the module again. Top banner module does not work in version 5 - need to use the new built in version. PM system is totally different and will take time to learn. Current Theme is also incompatable so as part of the rebrand we will also look different, hopefully not too much. Towards the testing phase we will open up the test site for logins to the subscribed member base and you can all test it out make some comments about how its setup. Last time we migrated to the new design we were forced to do a launch early so our ideas were not copied by opposition sites. This time i dont see any issues opening up the design prior to going live. Lee

Plans for the new zed cave have started
The outer area of the garage is now 90% coated in golden oak ronseal which look great. And there is just one small wall and the top panel to do to finish it off. Inside I've also done the same colour but I'm planning on some good lighting to brighten the whole place up. Lastly today I've started to install my workbench which is partly made out of the spare timber and some shelving units that I acquired about a week ago. Few design changes as I went along but came to a good design below and gave it a coat of the same paint.

Small update to my garage build as I've not updated the build for just under a month. After my leak I went round the full foundation and applied a very thick coat of sikaflex - leak solved. Also the add to the drainage solution I've installed a full guttering system at the rear of the garage and that takes all the waster water away. Never done guttering or drainage before but it was fairly fun doing it.

Can't reply to for sale posts
Its under review at the moment after a discussion at the AGM. It was discussed that the buying and selling forums should be exclusively locked to the subscription base. As they are the ones who help fund this club and we depend on the subscriptions to keep this site and club going. The subscription itself was also raised after the subject matter was discussed and the member base was in agreement. -- Over the years the club has moved to many features that used to be exclusive to the member base over to the public sections, because of this there is little or no incentive to pay the subscription any longer; if this continued the club and this site would be gone within a matter of years as the funds run out and the club can no longer pay its way. If registered users who are using the club site on a daily bases don't subscribe or renew then personally I think that shows there is no longer a willing to support the club so why should the club give away these facilities. We need to get away from the attitude that this is just a forum / website in the big pond of the internet. We are foremost a '300ZX Owners Club' with a fan base that is also active in the real world. There is lots of expenses that need taking care of aswell as running a website. Its also been discussed and a full breakdown of these yearly expenses will shortly be shown when registered users decide to subscribe so then everyone can see first hand where your hard earned cash is being spent. £20 renewal a year is not a lot and if a member shows up at any of the events then this value is given back 2 fold by what it provided on the day. Simplest thing any of the registered base can do is support your club and get subscribed. We plan a lot of changes over the coming months and the registered section will become only a taster for the subbed sections. All the best Lee

No way or easy way to do that i'm afraid.

Not a lot, The unregistered traffic that isn't an actual registered user is mainly bots. Tricky to pick out the real traffic from bots as they don't always identify themselves as search bots.

Club Events Calendar
Hi all, Many times it has been asked for a central place for all the events. Generally a new post gets created for each event which is fine for discussions but we have always had a calendar that's barely been used for anything but Birthdays. So I've moved it to the upper toolbar and renamed it Club 'Events'. Everyone is free to post an event that they know about in the new section but any posts from registered users will need to be moderated first. This is to prevent random accounts been created and the section being spammed. Once your event is approved it will show up as normal. This is now operational and I can see that Craig has managed to test it before this announcement. Regards Lee

This was previously a limitation on the database function rather than the forum software. Luckily I have found a workaround and managed to get it working. :)

Subscription Fees - Enable Recurring option for PayPal.
No it won't, Although we could add two renewal option instead so that it will be optional IE 300zx Owners Club MemberShip Renewal (normal) 300zx Owners Club MemberShip Renewal (recurring)

Subscription Fees - Enable Recurring option for PayPal.
The current version of vBulletin can now allow recurring memberships. What this basically means is that if enabled on your next renewal your membership fee will change to Annual Recurring on PayPal. This in turn will mean your subscription will automatically renew each year until you say otherwise. I have added a poll to this thread as I would like to see what people think if this option is turned on. This will only effect current subscribers as the membership has to change to renewal first.

A Few site updates and overall changes [AGM]
Hi all, After a very successful AGM at Coventry on Sunday a few items on the site have now been moved about. The reason for these changes was generally discussed at the AGM and it is solely geared towards bolstering this site as a Club and not a Forum. The '300ZX Owners Club' as you can see by the change of logo at the top is the now official title of the club. -- To increase the benefits of your support to the club the following sections have now been moved into the 'Subscribed Sections' : 300ZX Club Merchandise - This is an old section but has been archived to the Subscribed area. The Games Room - Similar to media gamers usernames if listed are now protected from spammers and search engine leachers. Club Competitions - This section will be split and competitions with larger prizes may be reserved to Subscribed members. Z or Club Pics / Video / Media - You generally has to be subscribed to upload anything in this section, protecting it in the Subbed area prevents your pictures or media being plagiarised by search engines. Classified Listings - This is now solely reserved for Subscribed members for buying and selling. FAQ Storage Area - General help on the club is free but we think that this sections access should be reserved to subscribed members. --- We are working towards building a better club for everyone so we need to up our game. If anyone has any suggestions please let us know or PM any of the committee. As usual if anyone has any issues you are free to voice your opinions in a civilised manner. :) Regards Lee

Mixing Oil
Are they the same brand ? If not then no as they could have additives in the oil otherwise personally I think it should be ok.

What did you do to your zed today?
I've only named one of my zeds and look where that got me. I do plan to name the new one but just not found a suitable fit yet, also my boss told me that all cars in her lockup must have a name.

JaiKai - MK2 - Ziggy Build
Done two jobs today on the Zed, First took 20 minutes and that was to switch the front discs around as they were on the wrong way. Second job took closer to two and a half hours; why is it the smallest of jobs are the worst ones to do? All I had to do was swap out the front droplinks for new ones, but no one had to get stuck and I ended up getting the grinder out and cutting the damn thing off. Not a job I would like to do again.
