  1. Strangely this thread has done better than I thought it would ;)
  2. The facebook page is a page rather than group. There is another group with the exact same name as us but we do not run it. Initially the Facebook page was started by Kim and was only used for site updates, the other committee and myself have been doing rotated updates on it but it could do with more updates. This is something we can delegate to the sub commitee

  4. You have my backing and vote :)
  5. so i just need to find two bulb holders and part of a loom then i can solder it onto the old loom.
  6. We have two very specific zed questions but spammers get past them easy. They also need to verify the email they used too. In the last three days we have had 15 - 20 signups with obscure email addresses and locations. They are very easy to spot. I thing what we should do is put the new signups into moderation and then they will have to be manually checked.
  7. Looking for a replacement power control unit as mine has blown up. Opened the unit up and it has blown parts inside and one of the tracks has even blown off of the PCB.
  8. Yeh, You could stick the forum into a shared cluster for pennies to reduce costs but we want a site that's fast and responsive when used. The site is hosted and stored on dedicated google cloud platform, we have daily backups of everything that's stored on there so that in the event something does happen we can get it all back and go again. The site used to be hosted with Vidahost but they were taken over and the support was horrendous; then they decided to give us notice of a 10% price increase. At the start of April we moved everything to a custom google cloud service which saved us 20% in costs. I don't disagree that you can pick up hosting packages for less then £15 a month but the control we need wasn't there for that priceand the need over our system requires that we use a dedicated platform and that its not a shared resource. We look into the costs on an annual basis and we have been reducing the requirements needed as the club becomes unfortunately less used. We have about 40GB of storage space on our server which is about 60% used by the OS of the platform, the database, various attachment files for the forum then the daily backups. I can assure you the hosting is in good hands and would not use a shared infrastructure at this point in time. If and when the club reduces we will look into the costings again. But we all don't want that to happen as it could be the signs of the end of the club as we know it.
  9. Has anyone noticed the new button ? I've been busy today building the template for the new homepage. Its built with word press and functions separately from the main forums, but I've managed to integrate its looks to match. I just need to fill it with content some of which will be from the main threads. So if anyone has an idea of the layout or format let me know.
  10. Guys just so your all clear there will be no direct Jobs just doing moderation of threads. The moderation terms come hand in hand with the other roles. If and when the forums get busy enough to warrant full time moderators we will bring them back.
  11. Hi, For anyone who is having issues with broken links you all just need to do a forced refresh on your device. The page links from the updated vbulletin 5 are getting cached on your devices. For mobile devices you will need to clear private data and log back into the site.
  12. Ok, I'll look at it shortly
  13. Hi all, We are looking to put together a sub committee that will look after the various sections of the clubs site. Each member will basically cover a particular detail of the club but will have permissions to cover overall the other areas. If you are interested in being apart of this committee then please put your name forward. Below is the general conditions of the putting your name forward or being nominated for a role : 1.) The nominee has to be an active user with at least 1 year under their belt. 2.) The nominee must be a premium member (so upgrade your account and put your name forward) So in general here is the areas we need covered : Editorial (covers front page of the website, news letter) Designer (for making calendars, good at photoshop etc..) New User Moderation General Moderation Events (taking care of the club calendar) Get your name down now :)
  14. The benefits of the upgrade didn't do it justification to what we were losing. I am still working on a plan for a featured front end for the club and I think we should arrange the sub committee as previously suggested.
  15. So, That went well. :( It took over 3 hours to upgrade to something which I royally hated. Even though I've done testing I never had the actual people to log in to use it and the results were fairly bad. Lesson learned and we move on and find a different way to enhance our systems. :) The truth of it all after I stripped off all the incompatible plugins that we used there wasn't much left. It could have literally taken weeks to program new methods to get the functionality that we had so it wasn't worth it.
  16. It might just be co-incidence. I pulled the fuel pump relay prior to hooking everything up and when powered up everything works including the AC. The leading track on the window controller has clearly blown out and after a proper inspection it simply peeled away. I'll repair it tomorrow with a linked cable between the two points and hopefully it will power up the window.
  17. Side light in in my front fogs, that harness splits in two and I just don't connect the other parts
  18. If I use the 99 spec bulb holder I have the bulb but the plug doesn't match what's on the loom. If I plug the loom harness in its the bulb with the two contacts I don't have.
  19. The housing isn't the issue;it's the plugs on the loom or the bulbs.
  20. got there in the end, thanks for subscribing. :)
  21. lol, He reply via email after getting the notification.
  22. That's cool, apart from it would be 12 zeds broken down at the side of the road and someone like jeff or jimmer sorting them all. :)
  23. equally spaced contacts. What I don't get is why does an indicator bulb have a dual element ?
  24. The question is if I wanted to ground the battery to the car where is the best place to avoid power issues ?
  25. ok, Wasn't a bad solder but rather it was a blown track. I think I have somehow caused a surge in the power systems by the way I've hooked up the ground cable to the zed. Mind I don't have an engine so the ground cable from the battery at the moment is connected to the chassis. That explains why I also have two blown headlights at the same time as they went too.
