Daily Driver or Weekend toy ?
It was a weekend toy, but my situation changed so I had to cut back to one car. Tough choice, Zed or old Skoda? So now it's my daily driver. Although working from home means I don't do much mileage.

Interesting, looks like the house they're next to is abandoned. Maybe worth a stop by to check it out next time I'm in notts.

engine oil
I use this stuff: http://www.opieoils.co.uk/p-68898-fuchs-titan-race-pro-s-10w-50-ester-synthetic-engine-oil.aspx Fuchs 10-50. The car seems to like it, although I've not tried other oils.

Help! Alternator belt change, at wits end

Help! Alternator belt change, at wits end
Thanks, that's extremely kind! I can't today but later in the week is fine, or this weekend?

Help! Alternator belt change, at wits end
Can you elaborate on that a bit more Jimmer? If only it was this easy:

Help! Alternator belt change, at wits end
No joy. Gave up in the end and put it back how it was at it's my daily driver/only car so needed it for tomorrow. Will have another crack at the weekend. Downside is the alternator belt is now squeaking constantly. Before it was only on startup. Ho hum...

Help! Alternator belt change, at wits end
I've tried searching, but had no luck. I've been trying for the past three hours to change my alternator belt, but as usual nothing seems straightfoward. I got the alternator belt loosened enough to remove. But I need to remove the power steering pump belt to do so. This is where I'm stuck. I've loosened what I need to loosen to get the belt loose, and it's slightly looser than it was before. The problem is that I can't get the belt any looser! The tension adjuster is only about halfway along the bit where it slides (where the 12mm bolt is in the pic below), and something is preventing it from going further. These are the bolts that i've loosened: Is there something that I'm missing, or is it just going to take brute force to move it?

Warm air = low boost
I think it's a series 1

Warm air = low boost
It's got a chip and boost has been upped to 14psi (all from previous owner). Only ever gets V-power. I went out this afternoon and it was boosting as usual (I.e. the problem I initially posted about didn't show up). I think it may be something electrical rather than mechanical as it's so temperamental.

Warm air = low boost
Yeah standard Tubs and intercoolers... just over 100k miles. Will try cleaning the air filter and let you know if that works...

Warm air = low boost
Thanks, although I don't remember there being such a big difference last summer. Maybe I'm just being paranoid!

Warm air = low boost
With the warmer weather we've been having, my car has only been boosting to about 10psi during the daytime, then when it the air cools down in the evening it boosts to 14psi as it should. Now I know that the turbos won't work so well in warmer air, but it's not a problem that I ever had during last summer. There used to be a minor difference when it was warm, but not so exaggerated as it is now. I'm wondering what could be causing it to lose so much pressure, boost leak? I figure if it was a boost leak then it wouldn't be reaching full boost when the air is cooler. Could it be a faulty sensor of some sort? Or are my turbos shagged?

Stability at speed
Surely aerodynamics are going to be the biggest factor at that speed. What was the spoiler that you had on before? Also I dunno how confident I'd feel on Nankangs at that speed...

Soundproofing
I've done just the doors in mine and that made a noticeable difference, I imagine doing the whole interior would be great!

Any mountain bikers on here? just bought a downhill bike, what do ya think?
:D Mine weighs 50lbs+, I've never found the weight to be an issue to be honest (apart from when pushing back up...). If anything it helps keep it stable + I reckon you have more momentum over jumps which helps. Luckily being in Buckinghamshire, the highest hill I ever have to push back up is about as high as my knee  Went to Cwmcarn once, stupidly managed to pick the one day the uplift wasn't running...

Pretty old skool! Nice though. I've got a Demo 9 sitting in the garage that doesn't get used enough :-(
