  1. Sorry to see that! :-( Are there any garages nearby that you're able to rent? I think most local councils usually have a few, although you might not be near any...
  2. Genius business model however...
  3. Did you resolve this? I'm having a very similar issue at the moment... Haven't had a chance to do a leak test or a compression test yet, I'm just praying it's not the headgasket...
  4. Driving it in the wet is fine as long as you don't use the throttle like an on/off switch. Some of my most memorable drives in this car have been in the wet, the back end will come out if you come on boost, but that's part of the fun!
  5. I'm off to Le Mans tomorrow, just wondered if anyone else here is going? I won't be in the Zed (rest of the people I'm going with aren't keen on splitting that big a fuel bill unfortunately!). I'll be staying in Bleu Nord I think, if I see any 300's I'll be sure to say hi!
  6. My Zed is finally back on the road and ready for the summer! See this ,this and this for background... Long story short Zedworld have fitted a new engine and my Zed is running better than it has in a very long time and will hopefully be good for a long time yet! Top work from Jeff and Jamie; They kept me in the loop about what options were available and I always got the feeling they were trying to help me get my car back on the road rather than sell me a new engine! Overall I'm very pleased with the outcome. Obviously I'd rather not have any of this happen in the first place but I knew the reality before I bought the car and went in eyes wide open... Anyway, bring on the summer! Also I want to say thanks to Ian for coming to Milton Keynes and spending a day trying to diagnose and sort out the issue when it first happened, top guy! :thumbup1:
  7. Reminds me of this: Pretty awful...
  8. The 350z is nice but the interior lets it down IMO. Can't comment on the Honda. Good value for money though with either car...
  9. Man I would've given my left ball for that NSX. Or at least financed myself to the hilt!
  10. Yeah it is only 10 miles, they wanted £4 per extra mile! I'm using the guy that Jeff has recommended to get me up to Zedworld...
  11. Luckily it's free with my bank account! The guys' first guess was a coil pack (which I'm pretty sure it isn't) so I guess he was just guessing! Thanks anyway, it's booked into Zedworld on Tuesday so hopefully I won't be without my Z for too much longer!
  12. Another update on this: I've been out of the country for the past six weeks so haven't had a chance to get this resolved. I just had Green Flag out to look at it as I figured it was worth a shot given that I have free breakdown cover with my bank. The guy reckoned that the misfire was caused by tappets? His opinion was that it was a loose/misplaced tappet. I have no idea about tappets so don't know if that's a possibility? Either way, I think it's time to call Jeff...
  13. Cheers guys! :-)
  14. Just saw this on Pistonheads, is it anyone from here? http://www.pistonheads.com/gassing/topic.asp?h=0&f=23&t=1118517&mid=0&nmt=G472UMB+-+Nissan+300ZX+-+Anyone+know+this+car%3F
  15. Oh any excuse for pictures: 18's on mine:
  16. Ah, looks like it's at Santa Pod going from that website.
  17. Ditto. I'm curious!
  18. Quick update: All the injector connections were really green. Cleaned them up and it's a bit smoother, still misfiring... It'll hold a steady idle now, but the passenger side cylinders still seem to not be firing properly - the engine heats up much more on the drivers side than the passengers (pass. side stays fairly cold actually). I've checked coil packs and injectors, they're all fine (getting correct resistance etc...). I've not checked to see if I'm actually getting a spark yet. Will have a second pair of hands with me tomorrow so can do that then... I can't find any vacuum leaks, all the hoses seem fine, clips done up tight. May have to bite the bullet and get her booked into zedworld...
  19. I've now swapped the PTU plug and it's idling a bit smoother, still misfiring badly but not as bad as it was. My wiring skills are pretty awful so I wouldn't be surprised if it would improve further with better wiring. It makes me think it's something to do with the PTU harness and the PTU... I just tried it with the MAF disconnected and it was running smoother. Not great by any means, but not juddering or misfiring as badly.
  20. Just an update on this. I've cleaned the MAF and the TPS, the car will idle now. It's still misfiring badly though. It seems as if it's only firing on the drivers side... I've swapped the coils, spark plugs should be ok, can hear the injectors ticking and the plug into the coils is getting the right voltage but the three cylinders on the passenger side don't seem to be firing (no change in running when you remove a coil pack plug, plus the engine is only heating up on the drivers side...). Could this still be PTU related? Ian popped over yesterday and we tried his PTU, although it didn't seem to make much difference. I'm going to swap the plug today as it was pretty green and see if that makes a difference.
  21. I've got a series one PTU I believe. Would that fail so suddenly? I'll get a chance to look at it tonight so will check out the various connectors and get back to you... Ian, cheers for the offer, although I'm not keen on driving it in this state... I'll have a look at it tonight and see what's what. Is there an easy way to test the PTU? Thanks all :-)
  22. Hi all, I was driving home earlier, cruising along at about 55mph in 5th. Suddenly the car started misfiring pretty violently (was previously misfiring very mildly on idle). I pulled over and stopped, the car then wouldn't idle. If I turn the car on it will idle at about 500rpm for a few seconds before going lower and then dying. I've managed to get the car home now, any idea what it could be? The misfire I thought may be an injector, but that wouldn't explain the idling issue? Vacuum lines possibly? I fitted new spark plugs last week if that makes any difference (NKG PFR 6b 11 etc...). The car has been driving great with them, but is it possible that one of them has failed? Any ideas? Or is it totally borked?:crying: Leo
  23. Aah I'm jealous! 1) You get that for 3 months. 2) You have my dream NSX!
  24. Interesting, what about crusing at motorway speeds? Does it rev a lot higher?
