  1. Many thanks guys  Yes, a lot of hard work and swearing went into it but all that was history once I took her out for a run at the weekend :dance:
  2. Yep, that's the one, I bought it with a wee bit of rust
  3. Thanks for the compliment  Close up you can see the various chips, scrapes dents etc. The back quarters are done in Halfords black gloss, the rest of the car has lovely purple/black metallic finish - but it'll do for now
  4. Chuffed tae the gutties :clap: S'pose you'll want the MIG back now :tt2:
  5. After twenty two months off the road  my Zed is once more on the road :clap: I took it off the road in July 2009, as it was going to fail the MOT on excess corrosion - holes in the floor and rotten sills  I've had to open up the sills on both sides (front to rear), cut out the rust (outer and inner sills) plus some of the floor and fabricate/buy new panels. The rear arches, both inner and outer, needed replaced. The area around the fuel filler was completely shot, so that all needed cut out and replaced. The rear lower quarters were also rotten and required replacing and then a couple of small holes in the front inner wing and the rear panel - phew! After that was done......I found out that the front calipers had seized :crying: New seals from Bigg Red, braided hoses from DTA and a new metal brake pipe later - MOT time. Failed.....the brake master cylinder packed in :cursing: A replacement master cylinder from Zerocooldel's breaker  then a retest :sweatdrop: .................Passed :dance: She looks a wee bit rough just now but that's the next project. I wouldn't have been able to do all of this without help from Ossian, he gave me a loan of his MIG welding outfit and his help, advice and encouragement kept me going when I was at my wit's end - Thank You Robert. Thanks also to Berrica, for regassing me and ensuring that work went on! Not all Zeds have to be scrapped when the tinworm strikes, I'm lucky, in that I had a garage, the equipment, the time, the friends and the determination to keep the car on the road. Photos to follow - hopefully. Apologies for the long post - Andy
  6. Nooooooo! I'd be just as well blocking it up with blu tac  Time for a new cylinder methinks :surrender:
  7. Hi all, The Zed's brake master cylinder is leaking, not from the servo end, but from a small aperture which is set between the brake pipe outlets (facing the engine). There appears to be a small hole at the inner end of the opening and that is where the brake fluid is leaking from. Any ideas on what this opening is or what it's purpose is? :confused1: Is it repairable?:confused: Regards - Andy
  8. My Zed's been off the road since July 2009, corrosion & brakes causing a lot of work, I took it to get Mot'd last week and it failed on a very soft brake pedal (now bled properly), a couple of areas of my body repair needing sorted (underseal and more underseal) and lastly 2nd emission test at idle (a bottle of injector cleaner into the tank and a good welly up the road). All being well - she'll pass next week....................
  9. Speak English boy!
  10. Hey Ho, I've got the front calipers in bits at the moment and am not working on them, as I've stuffed with the cold (yeah, I'm a wimp) Hopefully by the end of the week I'll get back on with the work but work itself will be busy for the next three weeks so I''l keep an eye on this thread and see how it all pans out :hammer::hammer::hammer:
  11. According to the EPC that I have, door seals for a '93 LWB TT are part numbers 80830-32P00 RH and 80831-32P00 LH. I take it that the seals that you mean are the ones that attach to the doors not to the door aperture? My EPC won't give me any other alternatives because the SWB isn't covered by it. Hope that this helps. Andy
  12. Lucky :censored: I spent the weekend and today............. Removing the petrol tank and a very rusty filler neck only to find more holes in my rustbucket. Cutting out the LH rear wheelarch. Cutting open the LH sill to half way along the door and then cutting back the rusty inner sills. The joys........ Hope you both enjoyed yourselves - maybe next year? Andy
  13. The fuel tank is now out of the Zed, came out with no problems other than a tight breather hose. Thanks for the advice guys  I'm now in need of a fuel filler neck (posted my requirement in the wanted section) and some serious plating around the same area - see attached photo.
  14. Great, I'll need to get a 10mm hex socket on these wee bolts - they were starting to round on me
  15. And I should have checked the last post :)
  16. Many thanks for the quick reply Baz, can you drop the tank with the filler neck attached?
  17. Hi All, It's been many months since I posted on the forum ..........sorry :blushing: With the help, guidance, encouragement and MIG welder of Ossian I/We have de-rusted and replaced the inner and outer right hand sill sections, inner and outer RH wheelarch and inner and outer RH lower quarter panel. Now to the left hand side of the Zed and I need to remove the fuel tank and filler neck, in order to cut out and replace the rusty sections of the quarter panel. It's too close to the tank and neck to weld with the tank in place, so, what's the procedure for removing the fuel tank and neck? Thanks - Andy
  18. Last time I saw a tyre in that state, it was a remould. I'll let you off for not appearing today - I think that's a valid excuse.
  19. It would be a bloody miracle if we all turned up in our Zeds :D:D:D
  20. I should be ok for this, I'll be in the daily driver tho' :o
  21. Thanks for the advice guys  I'll give it another bash, hopefully my welding skills will improve as I go along :)
  22. Done that several times :smash::smash::smash: It's solid :D:D:D
