  1. Yesterday, my Zed hit the one thousand mile mark since I bought the car in November. What's it been like? Well, the first four hundred plus miles involved driving from the Norwich area up to Dunfermline, me and a full set of original wheels and tyres taking up all the seats and boot space. Needless to say, being new to Zeds - I kept the speed under eighty for the entire journey. Having an incident whilst sharing the cab with all these wheels and tyres was not an option. Sixty miles here, forty miles there .......it all adds up. I've been a member of this club and a constant watcher of the forum since before I bought the car and have learned many helpful things about the Zed and have in turn been helped by it's members. To be honest reading the forum everyday, I expected the Zed to break down every other day. ..............but is hasn't.:D So what has gone wrong or needs fixed? The driver's window was inoperative, fixed using the forum database. Flat battery - my fault I left the interior light on for a couple days. It has a leak from the autobox oil pan - a new gasket will fix that. The NSF tension rod bush is shot - time for new adjustable rods I think. The wheels need refurbished - sometime in the future. The car has a typical UK Zed rust problem - arches and rear sills - this is the most urgent as it will only get worse.:( Other than that, there are a few small (I hope) intermittent problems which I'll start to sound people out about. But all in all - a good experience.:D:D Yesterday, while tanking up at the local Shell garage, I had my first compliment on the Zed from a guy filling up at the same time....... "Is that a 350" says he. "Nope, it's a 1993 300zx" says I" . "Well it's absolutely lovely, great wheels" he replied. Makes it all seem worthwhile doesn't it? :D:D:D:D
  2. Both DTA and the Zcentre sell adjustable tension rods, about £135 plus VAT and delivery. Yeah - I was looking for them as well ....... :)
  3. I've done 108,000 miles in my daily drive (Primera 2.0TDS Estate 90HP) in the last 45 months and it's sooo boring. I bought the Zed for the weekend and the odd day of sunshine that we get up here. Be prepared to be bored ..................:(
  4. I'll be there :)
  5. Hi there, welcome on board. Come along to the meet on Sunday and you'll see a few Zeds in the flesh :D Andy
  6. "Fat Chav" .........I love it :rofl::rofl:
  7. Sunday the 22nd is good for me ........and the rustbucket :D
  8. So, given the amount of people on here breaking Zeds - surely it would make sense to buy a second-hand tension rod from someone.............recycling and all that. :)
  9. Ok, I was looking at Z Centre also and saw these ....... http://www.zcentre.co.uk/shop/product_info.php?cPath=21_28_58&products_id=315 Apart from your bushes being the split bush type, I wonder if there's much difference between these items?
  10. Out of interest, what kind of bushes did you put in? Genuine Nissan bushes or poly bushes?
  11. Yeah, I've seen these - I think that I'd need a full set of six panels and more :(
  12. Distance isn't the problem - it's the £150 worth of fuel to get there and back that causes the problem  I'm in the motor trade anyway, I'll just have to do a bit phoning around for someone that can do a good job. Did Zedworld give you an idea of costs to repair the corrosion?
  13. I was looking at a pair of Whiteline tension rod bushes from Z Centre, can anybody recommend them over the standard Nissan bushes?
  14. Hi there, As the title says .........today I had the Zed up on a ramp for the first time since I bought it back in November. 1/ NSF tension rod bush is leaking oil - can I replace the bush or does a replacement rod have to be sourced? 2/ Auto box sump pan is leaking - will have to replace gasket and may as well do the filter and fluid change at the same time. 3/ Rust .............both rear outer wheelarches need replaced, OS outer and inner sills and NS inner sill are holed enough to fail the next MOT  Other than that - it doesn't look too bad :) although I'm sure that the cost incurred in replacing what will probably be inner and outer sills (both sides) and wheel arches will be frightening. :( Any ideas of the cost of inner and outer sills and am I best buying Nissan or pattern parts. Thanks in advance - Andy

  17. I have to agree, Jimmy's engine bay looks great  I like his throttle cable cover sooooo much, that I'm going to attempt to duplicate it in my own cack-handed way :D

I'm good for a Glasgow meet but I'll pass on a run to the lakes, the weather looks a bit dodgy down there this weekend ;)
  19. It's unlikely (but not impossible) for the fault to lie with the ECU, I work in a Mercedes/Jeep/Subaru Parts Department and can't remember us being asked for a Vito ECU in the past three and a half years.
  20. Thanks for the advice guys. I'm all for the easier way as long as it turns out a good result :D
  21. Seeing as I'm really not very good on the whole body/paintwork sort of thing, can someone advise me on the preparing and then painting of my standard throttle cable cover, please. How to prepare it, what paint to use (gloss black) and how to paint the Nissan letters a different colour from the rest of the cover ...an idiot's guide really :D Thanks in advance - Andy
  22. Losing it!..............I think that he's lost it altogether :rofl:
  23. Hello and welcome. :) My Zed is my second car and my Primera P11E TDS Estate is my daily drive (135,000 Miles and still going strong). :D
